Monash Malaysia - The Real Deal?

Hello everyone,

I am an International student who graduated recently with a bachelor in Computer Engineering (Honours - First class) from IIUM. I would like to continue my studies either with a direct PhD or masters by research in the field of Electrical Engineering (Internet of Things, Computer Networks, Machine Type-Communications). I am planning to go overseas for my future (work/continue studies). Due to the financial restrictions, I am currently in Malaysia.

I currently have an offer from UM for masters, but I recently heard that universities such as Monash Malaysia provides its certificate from Monash Australia (basically the certificate is Australian but the study and campus are in Malaysia). So, I have been thinking and I was told, UM is a local university while Monash Malaysia can provide an Australian certificate that's recognized globally.

For those who have experience in this, could you please help me based on your experiences? Any tips regarding funds are much appreciated.

How is mechatronics course in UIA university? And how's the mechatronics itself? I'm trying to get an idea about this course, is it a mix of mechanical eng and electrical eng?!

Hello, all.

I'm not local. I like Malaysia, and I want to continue my studies (bachelor) in here! But I just need to know a few things about UTM. Its official site gives only general information.

-When is the dead line for the addmition for January intake? Unfortunately the site is outdated..

-I'm looking to enroll in Electrical Engineering -insha'Allah- but I don't know how many years I'll be studying, could you help me with that please?

-I have IELTS 6.5 -alhamdulillah- and was wondering, when I start studying insha'Allah, am I going to start studying my course directly or will be needed to finish the bridging course? And about the bridging course, is it strictly a year or could be shortened to a semester?

-Sorry about this silly question, but how's the area/weather in Johor baru?

Hello, all.

I'm not local. I've been in Malaysia, and I liked it, and I want to continue my studies (bachelor) in here! But I need help..

I already have addmition from UIA but I feel like there might be other 'better&cheaper' universities. If I studied in UIA, I'd only take the mechatronics engineering but people say that it's unreliable if you're looking for a job afteraward. Not to mention that it's a bit 'idk why' more expensive in comparison with other govt universities. But UIA has a foundation semester which is nice for me. I don't want to study foundation for a whole year..

I thought of UTM or UPM where I could I'll get EE but I'm still not sure.. Wacha think people? Should I just stay in UIA or I can get a better education in UTM or UPM? What about the foundation in them?

- *A naive question*: What's the end date of applying for the next semester?

Between these two, which has the best build quality ? And which worth its price ? Do any of them have specific problems eg: heat or anything? Are they budget lines ? If so, then are they a good buy?

Hi, people.

Nowadays, lots of new products from different companies are drowning the market. Acer, Asus, HP, Lenovo and more others. Toshiba in a way got me quite disappointed, when on earth are they going to release their SB laptops ?! Anyways, these remarkable companies have brought only one thing to the naive consumer: confusion! For me, being so noob, I find it quite difficult to choose my next laptop with all the requirments in my head. Reliability, durability, cpu, gpu, 14'incher, speakers ... etc . All together, various companies and diverst laptops made me washed up ._.

My question is so simple, expert sifus and people who have been through my experience, what do you recommend for me ? I look for a nice reliable, durable 14'incher that can fullfill my needs, which are gaming and studying combined with typical users use. Well, that's all to be precise. I'll be starting my course in ME in May. So, I'm kinda in a hurry! And my budget is ~2.5k. Do advice for laptops that are not in the range of my budget as it can be stretched a bit.

However, wandering around in this lovely forum with its awesome people for the past four months , I got an idea about some laptops from Dell, Acer and Asus. As mentioned before, being so noob makes me stiff and not able to decide what to buy! Guys, any recommendation PLEASE ?

I want to enquire about the Acer 4830 GT. I have a good number of questions ;]

I5, is it good enough ? I mean in general.
Doubtful point, how's the reliability & durability of Acer these days? Specifically, how're they in this model ?
Is the Nividia in this model good? Plus, what's really the difference between the 1Gig and the 2Gig versions ?
In comprasion with Lenovo G470, what wins? On terms of price and reliability.
How much is upgrading this machine to 8gig ram? And will it worth that?

*off the topic, how good is amd 6370 ? And which is better between it and G540 ?
