JPN Putrajaya ROM experience

Just gone through the process of ROM in JPN Putrajaya and would like to share some info.

I guess in most cases, Chinese would like to have the ROM done in Tien Hau temple. But found out that it's only permitted if either one is Buddhist. Since we are both Christians, JPN is the best option. In order to avoid hassle, we went straight to the one in Putrajaya.

Then comes the funny part. I'm from Selangor and my wife is from KL. She can submit her form in Putrajaya. But for me, I need to submit in Petaling Jaya. Kind of odd considering that JPN Putrajaya is supposed to be the HQ. Here's the loophole. In the building itself, you can update your Selangor MyKad address to KL address. Just cost RM7. Far cheaper than driving all the way back to Petaling Jaya and paying for toll and parking. After updating my address to KL address, we headed back downstairs to the ROM department. Since both candidates are KL 'residents' now, we can proceed as usual. Submitted stuff like IC and passport sized photo. Blue or white background does not matter.

They'll provide a date for you if there's no preferred ones. The list is quite full for the month of September. So, do expect them to give you a date which is more than a month eventhough the 'notice board' thingy is 21 days. They'll inform you that the time is at 8am. But when we check the letter, it shows between 8m-11am. Information from the internet says that you need to submit the witness's photocopy IC (and nominate 2 names). But they didn't ask us for it. Still, be safe and bring it. When this is done, go home and wait for the big day.

On the actual day, we arrived before at 7:30am. There's already a couple before us and another 3 more after us. So, be there early. First come first serve basis. After presenting your letter and IC, they'll print out a form for you to double check. Verify the information. They'll ask you to wait. In less than 10 minutes (depending on crown as well), they'll announce your name and room number. Head inside and wait for the officials to arrive. During this time, feel free to take pictures.

When the official arrived, the bride, groom and witness will sit down. Others are still allowed to take pictures but be abit respectful. Both bride and groom and stand up and do acknowledge some oath thing. Just some simple "yes" and "kami faham" words. The official will read the stuff for you. Now, time to sign the cert. You are now officially a couple. The official leaves the room. You'll have a few minutes to take more pictures (there's even an arch for decoration) and exchange rings.

That's all. Feel free to send a PM if you need more info. I've heard that Tien Hau temple requires some sort of "akuan sumpah" but JPN Putrajaya seems simpler. All done in less than an hour under the same roof.

Wedding Car Rental

Has anyone ever rented bridal cars with driver (chauffeur)? I've googled around and there's quite a lot of these services. But these are mainly premium cars such as Jaguar, Ferrari, Audi, BMW, Benz, etc. My fiancée and myself prefer cars like Mazda 3, Honda City and Accord. Coz both of us do not enjoy premium cars (yes, it's a strange behavior). Nevertheless, we still do need chauffeur services without bothering our friends (not anti-social). Therefore, we've decided to rent one of these services.

What's your experience with these companies? Are they on time? How's the car condition?

I guess the rates are dependent on the type of car.

Looking for USJ serviced apartment

Hi guys,
Wanna get some input from those who are well versed with USJ area.

My fiancée and I are looking for a serviced apartment / condo around USJ area. Now you might wonder why is there a 'with balcony' tag in the title. We're both staying in landed property right now and she loves gardening. But I'm the type who love to stay in apartment/condos. So, we settled with an agreement that we'll find a unit with balcony so she can continue with the gardening via potted plants.

Our target move-in date is December. We have not decided whether to buy or rent yet but will most likely rent for a year to know the place better before taking ownership of it. I've done Googling around using keywords like 'usj apartment condo balcony'. Some of them like Rhythem Avenue, Arcadia and Goodyear courts did say that they have a balcony. But some of these 'balconies' are merely a small inaccessible extension to put our aircond compressor.

So guys, if you know any place around USJ with a proper 'balcony', do send me a PM. Better still if you are an agent who can bring us to view the unit.

Lesson : Don't Resign Early

This is just to share an experience which I had very recently. It’s not about unfairness, injustice or a disgruntled worker. Just a lesson I got from a near-unfortunate event.

Few weeks ago, I was contacted by a very large MNC for a position which I’m specialized in. Had 3 interview with them and everything went well. The HR then contacted me and offered a package which was 20% above what I have right now. Sounds pretty reasonable based on my skillset and qualifications.

The next step was to submit proof of current salary and certifications. Rather straight-forward as I have those prepared. My certs are even traceable from the education institute’s online portal. This is to ensure that all qualifications are valid.

After waiting for 3 weeks for the official offer letter, I was getting restless. It’s the same feeling when you wanna pee but manage to hold on. But when you are somewhere physically near the washroom, the urge will skyrocket like crazy. Yeah, it’s something like that. Whenever I asked them, it’s always under processing.

On another hand, I don’t want to be the guy who starts work immediately after serving the final day. So there’s a temptation to resign early, then have an extra week for relaxation before starting a new job. I will say that I’m very close to blindly submitting my resignation.

Then, I received an email from them that they have revised the package. It’s now 20% LOWER than my CURRENT salary. It’s around 1/3 reduction from what they initially offered. Good thing I did not resign early.

This is not anyone’s fault. The company has every right to amend the package prior to the offer letter. Yes, it’s frustrating for me but they weren’t doing anything illegal or unprofessional. It’s just business. The main point is, don’t resign before receiving the offer letter.

Accessories For Gown

Will need some info from former brides or those working in the fashion industry. My fiancée is looking for a gown which has additional fabric or lace from the shoulder to the cleavage. Don't really know the terminology of it. I've asked the bridal stores and they said that they don't normally modify their gown's design. Size-wise, they can mod, but not the outlook of the gown. But they advised us to personally shop around for the extra fabric. In short, we wanted to add some fabric to her gown.

So, I was googling around to see where can I get these additional fabrics. Problem is, I can't find the correct keyword. Thought I can find them under 'accessories' but those are different stuff. Does anyone know the correct keyword? Better still, maybe the shop itself which sells these stuff.

Ok, before someone starts flaming me, I did google around for info but might be using wrong keywords. Plus, I'm not a phone-holic.

Anyway, I'm thinking of selling my old iPhone 4. Normally, I would just post it on the 'garage' section and wait for a buyer. But since I'm going to Lowyat Plaza this weekend, I was wondering if the shops will buy them. I've traded phones there before. But I've not sol phones there. Anyone know which shop to approach? I know I can go shop-to-shop to ask. But if there's any recommedations, that would be great.
