Koon Yew Yin's scholarship 2015

All scholarship recipients do not need to work for me nor they require to pay back the money I spent on them. But they have to promise me that when they are financially solvent, they would have to help other poor students. Currently about 200 scholarship recipients have already graduated and I expect some of them will soon be looking for poor students to help. As time goes by, more and more graduates will help other poor students.

All Malaysian students whose family income is not more than Rm 3,000 per month can apply for my scholarship. Interested applicants should write to my wife who is charge of my scholarship offer: kitpheng@gmail.com. All applications should include SPM ( 5As minimum) or STPM certificates, the parents’ pay voucher and admission letter from local universities. I am also willing to support students without STPM to do the one year pre U or foundation course.

originally posted at http://klse.i3investor.com/blogs/koonyewyinblog/77376.jsp

there is not much information given this year.

All students, irrespective of race and religion who have secured a place to study for the foundation course in any of the public Universities, including UTAR, are eligible to apply for scholarships from Koon Yew Yin.

The scholarship provided will be sufficient to cover tuition fees and cost of living expenses for the one-year foundation course.

On successful completion of the foundation course, the students will be required to apply for the government PTPTN loan to complete the degree courses chosen by them.

Conditions:

Scholarships will only be given to needy students whose parents are earning less than RM3,000 per month.
All applicants must have at least 5 As in their SPM certificates.
Scholarship recipients after completion of their degree courses are not required to compensate in any way for the financial support received. The only condition is that they will have to promise to help other poor students when they themselves are financially secure and in a position to help the unfortunate and needy.
All applications should be sent to the address below with appropriate parents’ salary or pay vouchers or other evidence of income as well as offer letters from the universities. For students with parents engaged in self employment, a letter of reference from a school teacher or official on the financial status of the parents will be sufficient.
The selection criteria is based on applicant’s financial need and not on academic achievement.

Read More http://kclau.com/blogging/kkyscholarship/

second link is based on 2014

unfortunately, i do not have more information. if interested, please put in some effort and find out yourself

Chiropractic

The International Medical University (IMU) is planning to offer a chiropractic programme in the near future. The university will be offering the first and only complete chiropractic educational programme in Malaysia, as well as in all of Southeast Asia. Students can graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in chiropractic in 4 years, followed by a 1 year housemanship. Graduates are eligible for registration under Malaysia’s Traditional and Complementary Medicine Act.

The proposed IMU Chiropractic programme is designed to prepare the student for success as a chiropractic physician at an international level, . in accord with Accordingly, the IMU will apply for accreditation through the Councils on Chiropractic Education Australasia soon after the programme begins. International. Graduates of the programme will become well versed in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of human conditions, with special emphasis on the musculoskeletal system, including the spine. Chiropractors have many career options and may choose to practice in a private or group setting or seek employment in a variety of private, educational, and (in some countries) governmental roles. Many chiropractors pursue specialties within the profession, such as orthopedics, neurology, nutrition, diagnostic imaging, and sports chiropractic.

“This is a great development for our university, reflecting our commitment to meeting the needs of healthcare professionals in our region. The programme consists of four years of academic and clinical training, followed by a one-year housemanship. It is a very innovative degree, and an exciting one for IMU. This degree will significantly enhance the programmes offered in IMU, both academically and in terms of student life,” said President of IMU, YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Abu Bakar Suleiman.

full text - http://www.imu.edu.my/about_news.asp?pagei...rowsenewsid=154

it is kind of weird to me that malaysia is going to start a chiropractic degree. after all, chiropractic is still considered complementary and alternative treatment to me and it is not that famous in malaysia.

IMU is starting lots of new courses recently, parents better start watching their wallet.

new PSD scholarships next year

UTRAJAYA: A new category of Public Service Department (PSD) scholarships will be introduced next year based purely on merit, regardless of race.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he was sure that such a category would be welcomed by all communities, including the Chinese.

“We are restudying the distribution of scholarships under the Public Service Department scheme to introduce a new category.

“We will announce it next year and with the plan to limit the Sijil Pelajaran Malay-sia to 10 subjects, we expect to see a more level playing field,” he said in his speech at a dinner organised by the MCA and the Associated Chinese Chamber of Com-merce and Industry Malaysia here yesterday.

Najib said this would allow Malay-sia’s best students to receive aid to pursue higher studies.

“So the best of the best and the creme de la creme will get aid for higher studies.

“I believe this will be accepted well and it will allow each individual a fair chance to realise his full potential,” he said, adding, however, that he was not “letting the cat out of the bag” just yet about the scheme.

full article : http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=...4327&sec=nation

if there is no transparency, i believe it would be the same old tune
