No WD My Book Live not found ?

i just bought WD My Book Live 2TB but not able to be found in my network both my mac and PC.. tried all the possible troubleshooting guides in the CD but still not workable.. i am able to connect using LAN cable but that defeats the purpose of having this.. i also not able to get the Activation Code to connect via ipad or iphone.. what are the possible problems? is it due to my router or firewall setting?
