Maxis shaping traffic on Spotify usage

I'm not sure if you guys have noticed, but Maxis seems to do traffic shaping when streaming with Spotify on 4G. I use Spotify pretty often when I'm driving and I often get stuttering.

So I turned on my data traffic monitor and I noticed that the data speeds average 60KB/s at most... and this is obviously not sufficient when streaming on very high quality. I'm on MOP 98 with unlimited data so data usage isn't an issue for me - but if Maxis is doing traffic shaping then this obviously this is a concern.

Will open a complaint tonight, but I'd like to see if anyone else is facing this issue.

2012 Perodua Myvi 1.5 SE (M)

For sale: Perodua Myvi 1.5 SE GHS (M).

IMAGES HERE: Pictures

Purchased Feb 2012
58,417 KMs mileage, rarely driven
First owner
Excellent interior/exterior condition

Key points:

1. Excellent low mileage. Bought the car in Feb 2012, and current mileage is at 58,417 km. That's about 700 kilometers per month, or 8400 kilometers a year. Car is mostly used for general commuting including to work and places.
2. Car is dutifully serviced at Perodua Glenmarie SC as per booklet schedule. Charcoal canister, steering column recalls and other miscellaneous fixes over time have been performed by Perodua. All maintenance receipts will be provided.
3. Great interior/exterior condition. Car is a garage queen with a roof over its head 95% of the time. Owner does detailing as a hobby which the car maintains its paint protection, luster and cleanliness. Smoke free, never used as a pasar car.
4. First and only owner so you get a car that's been treated with care and with no secrets to hide.

Runs on Alza standard rims, with 195/50/R15 Bridgestone RE003 tyres with 70% remaining tread. I chose those rims due to the OEM quality and access to a better tyre range with that size.

Despite the low mileage, the car sees a good mix of short trips and long distance drives, and has happily done so with no issues whatsoever. A driven car is a happy car.

Will be letting this go at RM26,999. Cash buyers will get a discount. Message me at 0123252776 for more information.

How are parking lots allocated to high rise units?

Was wondering, how does the JMB formally allocate parking lots to units? Assuming the parking lot is a multi storey car park, there's two schools of thought here:

1. I pay more for a higher unit, hence I should get a lower parking lot (easier access)
2. The parking lot is an accessory to the unit and is not 'bought' per se, hence to maintain fairness, higher units are allocated higher (worse) parking bays whereas lower units get lower parking lots (better)

My unit is 3 floors away from the highest floor, but I was allocated parking lots on the 2nd highest floor.

Recommendation for CPU, board and RAM

Hi guys, I'd like a little help on deciding on these 3 things within 1.2K. But first, a little backstory...

My PC died - AM2+ rig, was adamantly trying to get my Phenom II 550 BE with an unlocked core stable at high speeds when I popped one of the VRMs on the board and it cascaded down to my processor. The PSU and GC survived, and I'm happy with them so we'll leave those out.

I've been really out of the loop since the K10 days so I'm still trying to adjust with all the new-fangled designs and architectures (graphics capabilities on the CPU, wow!) and this mandatory upgrade will be quite urgent as I will need my PC back in service. Will want to do some OCing, but I heard Haswell won't even touch it except for the Ks which IMO, not worth the price.

Anyhow, I'm open to any recommendations. Thanks

How simple/difficult is it to get laws changed?

I was reading on a topic where a fellow forumer had a car damaged in a hit-and-run situation where it was significantly damaged (curious people, here). The situation looks simple enough, claim the other party's insurance and get it fixed - but apparently it's not that easy as public transports, to my knowledge have a different vehicle insurance structure, and the person affected will have to claim their own insurance hence losing their NCB despite finding themselves not at fault.

Obviously at the surface this sounds downright bullcrap and unfair, as bus drivers won't care as they are not accountable for their actions. I know there might be other issues which we do not see but how do we get things changed? Why can't public transports be accountable for mishaps like this under law? And how come we do not see these issues brought up in Parliament? As I know, this has been the status quo for years and no one has bothered to bring it up.

Serious answers please. I'm not too well versed with the law and how it works, so it would be very kind of you guys to explain.

USPS Parcel Missing!

Hi guys, I need your help. I bought an item from eBay on 18/7/2013, with the courier using USPS Priority Mail International. The tracking stopped after the item was shipped out of the US, and the seller isn't replying any mails or helping either. It's almost a month and I still see no head or tail of the parcel!

I haven't received any calls nor letters from Customs or Pos Malaysia. I've tried using the tracking number LJXXXXXXXXXUS at the PosDaftar site and it's not in the system. Other than sitting and waiting, what are my options at this point? How do I check with Customs or Pos Malaysia to see whether they are holding my parcel, and what info will they need?

Please help guys. It's my first purchase from eBay and I want to do all I can before filing a dispute which would take even longer...

Daisy chaining routers for wireless coverage

I was wondering if I could do this at my home to improve the wireless coverage, but I'm not sure whether it would be possible.

I have three routers; a Technicolor TG784N V3 (the Maxis one), a Linksys WRT54GL and a NetGear router. The current setup is below:

1. Technicolor as router, connected to modem.
2. Linksys is connected to Technicolor via ethernet (rear LAN port).
3. Linksys' DHCP has been disabled.
4. Linksys' LAN ports are connected to PCs around the house.
5. Linksys' wireless is disabled. (Both routers are downstairs so I do not see a point.)

Now, one of the LAN ports on the Linksys is unused, and the network coverage upstairs is poor. Can I connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the Netgear router, open an SSID point on Netgear, which the devices then connect from there? If it's possible, am I able to group them all under a single SSID, which the Technicolor currently broadcasts?

Thanks in advance.

PC tripping when room air-cond compressor kicks in

Hi guys,

My desktop PC's power supply (NOT THE PSU) comes from my magnetic starter of my air-conditioner. The issue is when the air-conditioner's compressor starts up, my PC trips and screen goes blank. Fans, and hard disks are still running though. I have a voltage regulator plugged in between the PC and aircon power outlet, but it still trips.

I understand that this is likely a safety function built into the PSU when the POWER GOOD signal fails as the compressor draws a sudden power load when it switches on. Would a UPS work in this case? I can't switch to another power outlet as that is the only outlet nearby.

Thanks!

Anyone knows where I can source for T-bolt hose clamps, the ones used to attach silicon pipes to tubes and is used for high pressure applications - eg. turbocharged cars? All I find are worm gear clamps, and the shops that carry them try to chop my head off with it.

I know they may be cheap items compared to problems such as boost leaks but saving a few ringgit goes a long way

edit: in any case no one knows what it is here's a picture - http://hose-clamp.chinese-suppliers.com/p_...se_clamp/15.jpg

Weathershield rattle when deep bass is played

Hi guys, I'm having a bit of a problem with some rattling sounds, and it's annoying.

The new Myvi uses 6.5inch speakers mounted at the rear doors, and when there is deep bass played loud, a rattling sound can be heard from both of them. I removed the door panels to check which component was shaking but it turns out that it was the weathershield (that clear transparent plastic which is attached to the door metal panel and protects the components from rain) was actually rattling. After doing a bit of testing, it was because the door was so tightly sealed and had very little airholes for the speakers, which causes the weathershield to shake and vibrate as the speaker tries to pull in and push out air. This only happens for bassy tracks which does a lot of air pushing so it's pretty confirmed.

Without tearing or poking holes, is there any way I could reduce the rattling? I was thinking of sticking foam sheets on the weathershield so it does not vibrate too much when it's heavier but not sure how effective that may be.

Universal Copy Paste (UCP)

Hi guys,

So I had a bit of free time last week and I made an app to solve a problem that irritates me to no end - my friend would send me a link on Whatsapp or BBM, and I would prefer to access that link on my PC which has a faster connection, a bigger screen and with better compatibility. I can't remember how many times I had to read it off the small screen word-for-word to type it into my browser to get one character wrong and screw the entire thing up. Even worse is that most links aren't natural words which we aren't really too accustomed to type especially with all those rarely used characters.

This app, called Universal Copy Paste (or UCP for short) takes your URL or text that you want to copy and gives you a word as a passphrase to retrieve your copied text. For example, you want to watch

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Graq4vuZCQ0

...on your PC. You insert it into the app, and the app gives you the word 'hungry' as your key. On your PC, you access this site:

http://www.compelica.com/ucp/

...key in your passphrase, and retrieve back the link/text. The passphrase is valid for 30 minutes, and anyone can retrieve this URL/text as long as they know the passphrase.

You can download the app for Android here, but you will need to allow unsigned applications on your phone though. Alternately if you don't have an Android you can still use the online version at the link above. If you guys have questions, feedback or opinions, please post here constructively - I'm all ears.

Hope this little app helps you about in your daily life

10CMs at my front door panels

Got a pair of 10cm Pioneer speakers and I thought of putting them to good use. My pre bug-eyed Kancil already has slots for that size at the front side panels, so I thought of placing it in the car. Could use a good weekend project if it's easy enough lol.

So now, just a few questions:

1. Can the speakers fit the door without obstructing the power windows? If yes, where can I get the plywood door panels drilled to fit them? I've not much power tools at home.
2. Can I use it together with my stock rear speakers and still use my stock HU? Kancils are just too easy to break in, so I'm not planning to change it anytime soon.

And other questions if I don't have the proper tools:

1. How much will it roughly cost to get this done at a shop?

edit: btw, that speaker model I'm talking about is a Pioneer TS-G1012R.

Thanks guys

Car Antenna

My kancil's radio reception has been getting really poor lately. I'd drive around and all I hear are music and static mixing up. And one fine day when I switched it on - totally nothing.

So I pulled out the HU and tested it with my FM modulator, no problems. Whipped out the multimeter and measured resistance from the antenna plug to the antenna end, and it reported 172 ohms, and even zero. It's probably time for a new one.

So where can I get the antenna fixed, or replaced? Any accessories shops to recommend?
