DUNGUN: A woman who suffered a severed left leg in an accident at KM341.5 of the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) near the Paka Rest and Service Area (R&R) here yesterday died while receiving treatment at Dungun Hospital last night.

Dungun Acting Police Chief DSP Jumaidy Bah Chong Weh said police received a report that Maziah Che Hassan, 57, died at 7.15pm.

She was travelling in a sport utility vehicle (SUV) with four other individuals when the accident occurred at 5.15pm while they were heading towards Kuantan, Pahang, after attending a wedding ceremony in Kuala Berang, Hulu Terengganu.

"The driver is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to lose control while negotiating a bend before crashing into a road barrier.

"As a result of the impact, the vehicle spun several times and became lodged on the road barrier," he said in a statement on Saturday (June 6).

He said the driver and three other passengers, who were also injured, were taken to Dungun Hospital for treatment and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - Bernama

Pemandu tunjuk isyarat lucah, ugut pengguna jalan raya ditahan

Bayan Lepas: Polis menahan seorang lelaki berusia 37 tahun kerana disyaki melakukan ugutan jenayah dan menunjukkan isyarat lucah terhadap seorang pengguna jalan raya di Jalan Tun Dr Awang menghala ke Relau, Khamis lalu.

Ketua Polis Daerah Barat Daya, Anuwal Ab Wahab berkata, suspek yang memandu Perodua Myvi dipercayai memotong kenderaan pengadu secara mengejut sebelum menunjukkan isyarat lucah, memberhentikan kenderaannya dan menghayunkan objek ke arah kereta mangsa.

Kejadian yang dirakam dashcam pengadu itu tular di media sosial sebelum membawa kepada penahanan suspek. Polis turut merampas sebuah Perodua Myvi, paip PVC, kunci kenderaan dan pakaian dipercayai digunakan semasa kejadian.

Semakan mendapati suspek mempunyai rekod jenayah dan narkotik, manakala ujian air kencing menunjukkan dia positif methamphetamine. Suspek direman tiga hari sehingga esok bagi membantu siasatan mengikut Seksyen 506 Kanun Keseksaan.

Woman jumps from moving e-hailing car in Klang over safety fears

KLANG: A woman jumped out of a moving e-hailing car along a road near Taman Eng Ann here yesterday morning, allegedly out of fear for her safety.

North Klang police chief Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao said the incident occurred about 9am and was reported by a 47-year-old local e-hailing driver.

"The driver was transporting two passengers when one of them, a woman seated at the rear right, suddenly opened the door and jumped out while the vehicle was still in motion," he said in a statement.

He said the driver immediately stopped the car and found that the woman had sustained minor injuries.

"The passenger claimed she acted out of anxiety and concern for her safety, alleging that the driver had been observing her through the rear-view mirror without clear reason.

"Following the incident, the driver cancelled the trip and, with the help of a motorcyclist at the scene, the woman was taken to a nearby clinic for treatment," he said.

Vijaya Rao said the driver later lodged a police report as a precautionary measure.

"The case is being investigated under Section 336 of the Penal Code for an act endangering the life or personal safety of others.

"Efforts are ongoing to trace the passenger to assist in the investigation," he said.

Woman claims secret filming in JB hotpot restaurant toilet, police hunt suspect

JOHOR BARU: A woman has lodged a police report after alleging she was secretly filmed while using a restroom at a hotpot restaurant along Jalan Trus here yesterday.

The woman shared a screenshot of the police report on Facebook, claiming the incident occurred after midnight.

She alleged that a mobile phone was pushed under a cubicle partition from an adjacent stall while she was inside the toilet.

Startled, she said she shouted and kicked the partition but was unable to pursue the suspect as her skirt was not fully fastened.

By the time she exited the cubicle, the suspect – believed to be a man – had already fled.

She claimed she alerted restaurant staff but alleged that the initial response lacked urgency.

The restaurant manager allegedly declined to allow her to view closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, citing company policy, but confirmed that a man had been seen heading towards the women's restroom during the time frame.

Meanwhile, Johor Baru (South) police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat confirmed that a report had been lodged and that investigations are ongoing to identify the suspect.

He said that no arrests had been made.
