Shopee/Lazada Battery Restrictions - East Malaysia

Probably started 2-3 months ago, but you can't purchase batteries(more specifically smartphone battery replacement) and ship to Sabah/Sarawak due to shopee's new restriction on it being "hazerdous material" and such. Same goes to Lazada, Aliexpress. Taobao i know for sure cannot already.

I did ask one of the seller, and he mentioned need use J&T or Gdex to deliver these goods, which means need to manual bank in for ordering. Not to say it's bad, but the inconvenience is now very annoying for "overseas" users trying to purchase battery replacement on their own.

If anyone got tips do let us know.

Edit:even funnier now, i try checkout powerbank also cannot. (at first thought powerbank can then why battery replacement cannot, now both also cannot...

MyPB app on Custom ROMs

tldr, installed custom Rom on my Poco F6, specifically Crdroid 11.6. In the past even with this phone, mypb app would launch fine.

however this time around, it would just force close despite being from a clean install. No root, no nothing.

Had to flash the latest kernelsu Next with SusFS available, then install the usual modules like Pifork, Tricky store and its add on, Zygist Next and Susfs Module. Run those modules to get latest fingerprint + current "valid" keybox, after a reboot, mypb app works as intended.

Thus, if it happens to you, most probably the app now requires some sort of attestation from google side in order to run it. although not confirmed, hopefully it can be useful to someone else.

just for context, i have another device with custom ROM as well, it did not have this issue, but that was a month ago. Maybe something new from mypb side recently, requiring attestation.

Cheapest voice only plan

Before yoodo was bought over, they had a rm5 voice only plan which I still maintain to this day.

However I would need to find a similar voice only plan for my grandpa, as he spam calls me for biscuit. Currently he is on hotlink pantas, but his calling habits just depletes his credit. Need a voice only plan similar to yoodo's offering.

Previously I saw a voice only plan on umobile app, but now no more. So asking for recommendations/ advises from anyone. Thanks and have a blue Monday ahead.

Buying things on Ebay from Japan - Camera Lens

I tried purchasing a used lens on Ebay, which is from seller MapCamera in Japan. Map Camera, is a very well-established camera store in Japan, so it gave me the confidence to go through this deal. The lens is a Sigma 50-100mm F1.8 DC ART EFS Mount lens.

Lens costs USD 693. Converted MYR to USD using Wise, and paid around RM3.1k. Paid it on Ebay normally and it had free shipping. MapCamera first pmed me to inform me on potential import costs that I will have to bear, which i consented to them to proceed to delivery.

The courier company was DHL and it was extremely fast getting from Japan to KL, then it took some time (around 1-2days) for customs clearance. DHL contacted me via call to inform that there was indeed Import Tax on the item, which is RM 210.50. Breakdown of said tax is as followed.

QUOTE

1) Value of item: USD693 * 4.5456(DHL rate?) = RM 3,150.1
2) Sales Service Tax (SST? Not confirmed) = RM3,150.1 * 5% = RM 157.51
3) Duty Tax Receiver, Handling fee by DHL fixed = RM53
4) Total = RM 157.51 + Rm53 = RM 210.5

Paid it via DHL's website, you can pay import tax via your tracking number. Went to the DHL outlet to pick it up and all good. Lens is good and I'm happy. Lens was double bubble-wrapped, but box and the lens bag was not provided. Lens hood and lens cap was provided at least for my unit.

I did research prior to my purchase, and found out that there's a 5% sales tax on import of lens(camera).

(http://mysstext.customs.gov.my/tariff/) Customs Tariff website, Choose PDK or perintah duti kastam, choose "description" under search criteria, and type in "camera". It should show a table and scroll down till you see "- - For cinematographic cameras, photographic cameras and other projectors" and if you scroll right, you should see "5%" SST. While this is accurate for my case, it could be different for your items, so DYOR and take it with a grain of salt.

As per title, I recently tried purchasing a 144hz 24" monitor from taobao recently, and the warehouse there would not accept the package due to it being glass.

Previous years, i bought a similar gaming mon called 游戏悍将, and that was successfully delivered to me here in Sabah.

So im asking around whether anyone had made a successful purchase or they had just changed their policies on shipping certain fragile goods over.

Previous years i used air shipping, this time around i used sea shipping, which in the end china warehouse rejected.

Appreciate any response on this.

Have a nice one.

Need some advice on these 3 cars. Currently my mum wants me to buy a Toyota but I kinda dislike the vios. In the other hand, I kinda like the Almera with the Impul Bodykit. Prius C is also a option but it's lacking in performance. Also is the Almera resale value considered low? Compared to the Vios. Thanks bros

Possible to take JPJ Test more earlier?

Just went for bengkel a few days back(Saturday) and my L license still haven't come out. Ask tutor, he said maybe tomorrow. The thing is, I want to take my P license faster, meaning I don't want to wait until Febuary to take the JPJ test. Is it possible to take the JPJ test around mid January? Thanks.

Streamyx 4mbps vs P1

I've been trying to upgrade to a more faster package but can't decide which one to settle on. P1 has already made way to my place here(Kota Kinabalu) but its quite pricey. Im looking for a 4 or 5 mbps connection with no quota(if possible) since I really download a lot and my mum watches pps every night.

So it came down to Tutnet's 4mbps or P1. The problem is, P1 has a unlimited quota package with 5mbps but it costs Rm200 per month. The Oneplan has a quota of 25gb. Also, Tutnet has been providing idiot service in my area. I'm using 1mbps and it's like shit sometimes. Can't even load youtube 360p smoothly. The other thing is, I have 2 friends who both also subscribed to 4mbps. They both had speed issues awhile then but now, one of them has 500kb dload speed while the other has about 200kb download speed. He called Tutnet but all they said was " I don't know!". Ask them know eat rice say know.

So which one should I go? The 4mbps has no more slots in my area but I willingly to wait until next year to get it.
