Want to resign

I'm considering to resign due to current low pay salary as software engineer.

At this moment, I received a lot of offer from staffing companies, that outsource its employees to client's site to work on the project. So yes, basically a contractor job. Although the staffing company claims I'm hired as their permanent employee.

A contractor that I'm saying is the agreement between staffing company and its client company.

Their offered me 30% increment of my current salary. That is tempting for my circumstance, and I doubt whether it is good to work in such environment?

Previously I was working in software house company. Hence, I have no idea how staffing company will be.

Looking for RF Microneedling / INFINI Therapy

As title says, I am looking for radio frequency microneedling treatment.

I have looked around google maps and reach out to most of the clinic, the price is unbelievable high, about 2k average for each session.

Does anyone know if there is aesthetic clinic charge reasonable price for an RF microneedling for each session?

Since I am aware it is not a one term service, it requires a series of sessions to see a decent result.

Hi,

I have been employed in chinaman company for a fresh start as software engineer.

The reason I’m choosing chinaman over other as I expect to be able working wider job scopes and expand my skill sets for the coming future.

The thing is, I was informed that company does provide salary increment for 2 times a year. How much increment should I be expected in each round, such that it uses to benchmark whether current company is worth to stay? I might not wasting my time and devotion to current company if it turns to be otherwise as I intent to achieve my personal goal as in spoiler.

[Recommendation] Skin Specialist

Currently I am surveying around the KL/PJ Area for skin specialist. My main concern is to get my acne scars reduce/remove.

I am aware this is not a one term miracle treatment, thus required a series of sessions basis.

My acne scars can be accumulated for 7 years, since I was not financially ready to seek for treatment. Hence, old scars are much more difficult to treat as compared to new scars.

I also noticed that most of the skin specialist always offer laser when it comes to this matter, the thing is my scars are quite deep and the depth of such scars response well to chemical peeling (TCA types) or microneedling to reach the depth of the scar.

Are there any affordable skin specialists to recommend? Since I am gonna attend more than 1 session, thus I am looking for a good rate in the long run.

About job application procedure

So lately got me thinking, I had been few interview sessions with various companies.

Before the interview begin, I was told to fill the job application form, and sign the agreement letter or some kind of consent form that allow the company or its vendor to gather data about me.

I’m speaking in the sense of candidate perspective, since they still haven’t decide to hire me yet. But they have asked in advance to get consent of individual data gathering, does that legal? I mean, if this frequently happened during their recruitment process, the gathered data for each candidate might be worth the value of selling.

However, I noticed that few companies interviewers who don’t play mind game, probably an ethical company, they don’t ask for consent agreement in advance, only after a confirmed hire then ask me to sign the consent agreement.

Can anyone advise about this?

[Advice] SAP Consultant vs Software Developer

So, I am still thinking whether should I start my career between software developer and SAP consultant.

Based on my survey, SAP consulting market is quite niche to its specific business domain, it comes with higher pay than software developer? (Usually the data suggested so). It comes with the difficulty of job changing since it is not sought as much as software developer.

If I start my career as Java developer, the opportunity of job hopping is quite high, and yes I am aiming for higher salary per 1/2 year as jumping frequent. Of course that, I have to master other frameworks as well, namely Spring, jQuery, React.js, Angular, any kind of RDBMS and etc...

Some thoughts or opinions? Thanks.

Straight and direct, what does define high quality guy mean in ladies' opinions? I have been told by my colleagues that other department girls are looking for a high quality guy.

I don't even know that mean, does that equivalent to ktards definition of 20k income per month?

I be honest, I am looking for a date and a fresh graduate. Haven't decide whether I going to invest my future to live in KL, depend on where my career takes me. Hence, not really into long distance relationship phenomenon.

Looking for laptop keyboard replacement

Dear /k,

Recently I had spilled water over my laptop keyboard, most keys are no longer work.

I am looking for keyboard replacement, it is kinda hard since it is not like desktop can just purchase usb keyboard then settle the problem.
It is illegear z5 model, this also increase the difficulty to find the spare part, since not some kind of main stream model in the market.

I was quoted for 650 for single keyboard replacement at least, too expensive for me.

Is there any options to replace my laptop keyboard around KL area?

If the cost exceeds the price of mechanical keyboard, I might as well just get it. I am keeping this option as last solution as I am really want to travel with additional keyboard.

Water spilled over laptop keyboard

As title above, it is laptop keyboard, so I kinda having difficulty to find the spare part to replace existing embedded keyboard.

It is illegear z5 model, I am looking for its spare part. Hence, it is not a common laptop model which can be easily find its spare part around the market.
(Illegear's service price just too high)

Anyway, I am looking for any laptop keyboard shop/service around the lowyat plaza this weekend.

[OCR] Find the height of letter

Okay, usually I would post in SO to ask question.

But this time I am kinda need an advice, not a specific programming question, but more toward understanding the challenge.
As described in GitHub, tesseract works best to recognize 300 dpi text.

Right now, I am running an iteration to scan a directory's images and recognize the text from each image.
As following image's info, I have an image with 72 dpi, assuming the letter much lower than that. But I am still able to get a good result.

Due to this, I am moving to "text height" factor in terms of pixel to measure its accuracy.
My goal is to determine minimum text height, where the recognition is failed. (To build a confidence level where text height pixel less than certain value will be eliminated)

The returned values from tesseract api can be described as below.
(left, top, right, bottom)
E.g. M (179, 171, 199, 199)

Does following code make sense to you?

int height = bottom - top

IMO, in maths we tend to use higher value minus a lower value to find the difference, if I am taking top - bottom, the height value will be negative, it doesn't make sense at all.

The thing is, I do not have clear objective or knowing any type of on-demand app.

Can you suggest me, based on your user experience of using smartphone. What do you lack, or problems that thorn you up while using smartphone?

Programming Question

Based on illustration below, there are actually only 4 columns between B to E.

I cut and paste the the data in lower rows and pasted it at columns F to I for better representation.

As you can see, the frame 0 to 16 refers to the iteration of each frame, and there are 2 persons appear.

In each frame, I am able to assign an identifier each person that I have tracked as well as record the point_x and point_y they appear.

Here is the question, in each step of the iteration, how can I group "a set of point_x and point_y" that belong each person, so that I can identify if any of them standing around the region of interest over each iteration?

I am having difficulty to construct an "if" statement to determine "a set of points x and y" belong to each specific person.

Of course that it is easier to perform if I have a completed set of data that represent in this manner.

But I need to do a real-time processing as each iteration goes, rather than having a completed data only start to compute.

[Fresh Graduate] Looking for opinions

I will be graduated as computer science degree holder in this year.

I have been ignorance to do the research about career environment, what-to-expect or minimum amount of worthy to join a as fresh graduate. I plan to finish my internship then settle down to work with the same company rather than looking somewhere else.

Most of the internships that I have received are KL-based. My seniors who graduated recently, mostly are paid as 3k as junior in database administration.

The thing is, I'm looking to work either one of the following. Which are software developer, network engineer, computer or network security and fintech. Therefore, does 3k is a good offer or underpaid?

From your perspective, if you were me, what would you expect in terms of benefits, OT, basic salary?

Company environment? Yeah try not to be so chinaman or game of thrones, otherwise regardless how high the incentive will soon be use in psychotherapy.

[Advice] Fresh graduate career path

I have recently received a lot of job offers. Mainly because after my internship is concluded, they expect me to settle down and continue the employment from that point onwards.

The point is, most of the offers I received is software house that work to develop banking or finance solutions.

Well, I have no idea what the further direction can be if I decide to work in this field.

Other than that, I'm might as well looking to work in network or data related fields.

Deferred Isotretinoin / Accutane for 1 month

Hi there,

Since I have skipped to take isotretinoin 20mg pill for a month.

Would like to concern,

1. Whether that it is still feasible for I to continue to take isotretinoin from this moment onward?

2. Do I have to start this treatment from beginning? (Worst case assumption is that isotretinoin completely left my body system.)

I have taken this treatment for almost a year and last time doctor told me that I have 6 months to go.
As today, I noticed that my nose is quite oily which I am sure the effect of isotretinoin has gone, somehow.

Well, I dun get the chance to travel to Penang just to visit dermatologist since I have still examination on-going.

I am curious how long am I suppose to leave the gel on my face?
Since the gel has dried after half an hour, does that mean my face has absorbed the nutrients from the gel? So that I can wash out with water?

Dead screen after woke up from sleep

Hi there,

Recently I have reinstalled windows 10 (Previously wake up without problem)

The screen is dead as screen-shot provided, but I can hear the notification sound (usb connected) and my mouse cursor is movable.
The mouse cursor is the dead pixel that whiten than the rest.

I tried waking up using mouse click, keyboard and power button, it still end up dead screen.

Anyone know how to fix or experience this problem before? Please help !
