Bought the new Dell Insipron 5567 from Asashi Tech

As per title, bought a new dell 5567 directly from Asashi and damn regret.

I added a 250 GB SSD drive and requested them to clone/move the OS to the SSD instead of HDD, need to pay for the installation fee plus a bracket that hold that SSD to my laptop.

However, the edge of my laptop looks like this, in fact, when I was there to collect it, the edge or cover thingy is not even installed! They just put it up after I requested them to do so.

When they handed the unit to me, I complain that the cover shouldn't be like this, the lady who attended to me check with others, then confirm that it is supposed to be like this! So I trusted them to take that laptop, but later posted a thread here on LYN to ask for other's opinion, as suspected, everyone told me it shouldn't be the case.

So I sent it back on the same day and they promised to fix it. Few hours later, they claimed that it was fixed so I happily collect it back. It does looks good for a while.

The next day, the cover was loosen and looks like as it is in the picture again.

I went to Asashi the next day but that lady wasn't there, there is another tech guy (i guess) asked me to send it back and he will try to fix it for me.

So I carry 2 laptops like an idiot to my office (since not sure how long that they need to fix it and I need my laptop for work), but when I reach Asashi and saw that lady, before I even open my mouth, she told me:" ini memang macam ini, memang tak boleh buat apa apa"

I don't even feel like talking to her anymore, just zip up my laptop bag and left.

To be fair, the laptop runs ok without any issue, but the this cover issue makes my feel like collect a brand new car that was scratched, worse still, is the tak-apa attitude that just say 'memang macam ini".

OK this is the first time I swap a CD ROM for SSD, but does this looks like 'memang macam ini" to you? I seriously doubt so.

I guess Asashi support team found out about this and contacted me, replace the bracket and everything is fine now

They did go the extra mile to reach out to me, arrange time to meet up (even offer to visit me in my office to replace the bracket for me!), bravo for the effort

Wanted to remove this post but seem like I can only close it. So I think it is only fair that I post the update of how my story ends.

This is a typical story of how a frontline staff can ruin a hard earn reputation of a company, just wish that they will continue to keep up with their good work and customer support.

I would still recommend Asashi to others (like I did is the past few years), but don't be afraid to voice out if you believe you had been treated unfairly

I replace the CD ROM with SSD, however, the cover of the SSD doesn't really match wit the CD rom one.

Asked the staff and they try to make it right, after a while, this is the best that they can do and tell me this is normal coz the size is slight normal?

Anyone replace CD ROM with SSD for Dell Inspiron before? Is this normal?

[WTA] Pointing a .my domain to a specific IP

Dear all,

I'm working on a website for my farm. I registered a .my domain with exabyte, but I'll host it with others. Upon checking, exabyte told me that I can't simply point the domain that I registered for free, but need to subscribe to their 'DNS Management' service for RM50/year then only I can point the domain to other IP.

Feel like being cheated, or is this the norm in the web hosting world?

Anyway, other than paying exabyte again (which will be my last resort), is there anyway (even if its not free) that I can host my domain with others?

Hi all,

I know there's a thread about iphone bluetooth handsfree, but its really outdated and inactive That's why i'm starting this thread.

OK, the thing is, I'm planning to buy a bluetooth handsfree for iphone, for both 4 and 4s. mainly use for talking on the phone, listening to music may be once every one or two weeks. My budget is around RM100, but can go up to RM150 if its worth it.

Noise cancelation is most important as I'll be using it to call a lot. Also, battery life is more important than sound quality for me.

Just want to know,
1. Which bluetooth handsfree r u using?
2. How do you like it?
3. How much you bought?

Just bought my xbox kinect set yesterday, tried and had fun with kinect, but just realised that I dont find many good RPG in xbox, might be i'm still not familiar with xbox....

That's why creating this thread asking all sifus comment/recommendations.

What are the nice RPG for XBOX? I enjoy playing Japanese type of RPG during PS2 age, the only game that near to that kind of RPG that I know is FFXIII.

Other than FFXIII, any other good RPG?

iPhone 3GS - White Screen of Death.. help!

Hi all,

I dropped my iPhone 3GS this morning, since then, every time after I lock my screen, the phone will show white screen only. I can still call, receive calls, SMS, etc. Just that the screen won't show it.

I tried restart it (using only the sleep/wake button and home + sleep/wake buttons) then it will be ok.. until the I unlock the screen again. Basically whenever the screen went black (such as when you unlock your screen, answer call without handsfree, etc) it will not show the home screen unless I restart it again.

I googled and found that this is quite common, and could be hardware or software problem. If its software, then just restore the phone to the previous back up version will solve the problem (will try this later tonight). If its hardware, then I'll need to replace the LCD screen.

Question:

1. Anyone here know anyone in KL/Low yat knows how to replace the screen?
2. How much does it cost?

Just trying my luck to see if anyone here know how to fix or replace the LCD screen, if no, then I"ll have to go to Apple store this weekend.

Recommendation for router/modem

Hi all sifus,

Unfortuantely today my all-in-one router modem choose to say good bye to me, after servicing for only about 1 year

I'm looking to buy one tomorrow, but I'm a noob in this.

Appreciate if you could help to share with me your view and recommendation of brand or model that you think suit my needs.

I stay in a double storey house. The router model need to connect to 2 desktop, 3 laptops (maximum), 3 iphones (max)and 1 ipad.

Desktop mainly use for gaming (dota and wow ), laptop mainly for work. Would want to BT sometimes too (somehow I just can't get the old modem to download BT, the speed never go more than 10k...

Budget is around RM250, but if can get below RM250 that serve my needs, dont mind to save some money too

Questions
1. Your recommendation of brand and model?
2. Should I get a all-in-one or seperate modem and router?

I helped my aunt to booked a laptop with Dell on 8th March.

Very soon Dell contacted us and informed that our laptop will be delivered on 12th, but due to work commitment, my aunt reschedule it to 13th March. On the 13th, what my aunt received is a laptop BAG ONLY, and apparently bag and laptop were delivered and managed by different team. My aunt call a few numbers, but fail to get an answer on when can we get the laptop.

I waited a few days, and log a complaint at Dell website on the 16th, finally someone contacted us and informed us that this time, our laptop will be delivered around 25th March.

Yesterday (25th March), no sight of our laptop, waited till 530pm, cannot tahan d, my mom call up Dell on behalf of my aunt to check on the status. When someone pick up the phone,
my mom said "I ordered a laptop on 8th March, but...." without listen to her, the lady who pick up the phone actually said 'Order laptop pun datang sini!' then transfer my mom to other line.

Waited for a while, the phone got transfer back to the same lady, my mom requested her to listen first, before transfer her to other line, before she can finish, the lady said "Ma'am, sekarang dah pukul lima setengah, nak complain kak mana ni?' then HANG UP on her!

After that, my mom try to call again for about 30 minutes, but no one would answer the call anymore.

I wrote to The Star and The Sun yesterday, not sure if they are going to publish it.

Today (26th March), my aunt tried calling them from 1130 till 1220, finally manage to speak to a person, and according to them, the order has been 'canceled'!!!!

The most ironic part is, I got my credit card bill today and my banker ask me to pay for the laptop that was already 'canceled', according to Dell!

To be fair, this is the 3rd time I bought from Dell, and previous experience were all pleasant and smooth, but I really can't stand their service and attitude this time!

Is Dell too big that they think they can
1. No longer need to call back customer to inform that Dell fails to deliver the laptop on the agreed time?
2. Be rude and hang up on a customer?
3. Screw up their order system (or whatever it is that update the ordering status system) and doesn't give a damn to the customer?
4. Ignore customer's request to know about the order status (of a product we had PAID!!)?

I'm really pissed off with them, starting from today, I'll spend 1 hour a day to post this story to all the forum that I can find, until I finally get my laptop!!!

Dear all sifus

Am a total noob in digicam, looking to buy a digicam with budget of RM 1500, it should include a bag and memory card, may be 2GB or 4GB.

My requirement for digicam is actually very simple and basic, mainly used for taking pictures of my baby and when travelling.

At first I'm thinking to get Olympus's shockproof camera, i think is MJU 770SW, think its waterprrof and shockproof features will come in handy as I'm lazy to take good care of the camera

However, after browsing this forum, no many are talking about this, I'll assume this model is not popular coz its no good for you all sifu? How about it for a noob like me?

Or, what would you suggest?
