S'gor project freeze adversely affect contractors

The state government’s decision to freeze federal projects in Selangor such as the light rail transit (LRT) extension project and other highway-related projects is a bad move, said analysts.

“We are disappointed by the state’s action to consider freezing the light rail transit (LRT) project,” said Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB) Research in a report.

“The extension project has already been delayed and further delays will result in cost overruns and prolong the traffic congestion and inconvenience faced by residents staying nearby.”

In addition, site workers and machinery would be left idle, revenue recognition would be delayed and the project freeze may lead to higher costs if material prices rise later on.

“We are negatively surprised by this news,” added Alliance Research.

“A freeze on Federal funded jobs in Selangor would have an adverse impact on the contractors involved.”

Meanwhile, HLIB Research’s latest checks on the concerned projects revealed that the LRT Extension project is still on-going.

The research house thinks that the government’s “freeze” would likely affect projects that have not yet started.

On the other hand, HLIB Research told StarBiz that highway-related projects are more likely to be impacted as some of them have not yet been launched.

“The proposed highways that we believe will be affected are the Sungai Besi-Ulu Klang Expressway, Damansara-Shah Alam Expressway, Serdang-Kinrara Putrajaya Expressway, Kinrara-Damansara Expressway, East Klang Valley Expressway and West Coast Expressway, with total development cost of approximately RM19 billion,” said HLIB Research.

Perodua initiates Preventive Measure Campaign for New Myvi

Rawang, 16 Jan: Perodua is initiating a Preventive Measure Campaign call for its 74,000 New Myvi variants produced between March 2011 and March 2012 to replace the Electronic Power Steering (EPS) column of the model.

The exercise is to ensure that owners of the New Myvi enjoy optimum performance of their vehicle.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused to our customers but this campaign is necessary as the car’s performance may not be at its best and could partially compromise the driver’s response time at low speeds,” Perodua Managing Director, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said.

He said that based on studies conducted by Perodua, the problem could be detected when the EPS indicator is alight, after which, the driver could feel a slight heaviness at speeds of between 30km/h and 40km/h.

This can be temporarily fixed by switching off the engine and restarting the car.

“However, for a permanent fix and to eliminate any possibility of risk to our customers, we kindly request that an appointment to be made at any of our 170 service centres nationwide for the replacement of the EPS column,” He added.

The car company has already issued notification letters to the affected customers.

Aminar said that after making an appointment at the most convenient service centre, a customer will be given a briefing on the replacement of the EPS column. The exercise will take approximately 80 minutes.

“Perodua will absorb all costs for the replacement of the EPS column; in addition, priority will be given to those affected because here at Perodua, You Matter Most,” he said.

“The campaign time frame is open ended; that being said we encourage our customers to make their appointments as soon as it is convenient for them to ensure that the replacement can be done orderly and smoothly,” Aminar said.

Selling 2 apartment buy 1 double terrace house

Hi! All member here. I need some advise weather what i think correct or not. I thinking selling 2 apartment. 1 can sell around rm200k another one can sell rm150k. Hopefully can sell this price. Then i thinking buy terrace house around rm350k joint name with my wife but installment below rm1500 per month. Now my apartment installment rm700 + maintenance rm80 per month then my wife installment rm500 + maintenance rm80 per month.
Is it if combine both house commitment we should buy terrace house?

I have using speedtest.net to check my speed. Then i try few server like Kuala Lumpur, Seri Kembangan & Cyberjaya. I found KL & Cyberjaya can get download 9MB++ but when i test Seri Kembangan server result come out download 3mb++ only. Is it have problem???? [attachmentid=2884453][attachmentid=2884453]

Currently surveying some brands TV then see specification they didn't include camera (Skype) or wifi dongle. Need to ask is it we need use back their own accessories? Can we use others brands like Belkin wifi dongle & camera built in voice?
