Fake news website World News Daily Report

QUOTE

Fake news site stirs Malaysia, claims Selangor prince converted to Catholicism:

Fake news website World News Daily Report stirred Malaysian online forums and some local sites today when it claimed that Selangor crown prince Tengku Amir Shah had converted to Catholicism last week.

Religion is a sensitive issue in Malaysia where Islam is the official religion and the country's majority Malays and the nine royal houses are all Muslims.

But the website is a known as a fake news site and carries outrageous headlines such as “Bengali man pregnant with twins” and “Man steals 32 tonnes of bacon” – some of which get routinely picked up by other websites.

In its report dated July 24, World News Daily reported, "The only son and heir of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Tengku Amir Shah, has sent a shockwave throughout the Muslim community worldwide as what People’s magazine has deemed ‘the real life Romeo and Juliet story of our time’.

“The crown prince of the state of Selangor in Malaysia, has relinquished all his possessions and a chance to succeed to the prestigious throne of Selangor to follow his heart and marry Spanish top model and superstar Cristina Gomez, a 16 year old who was propelled to stardom this year when she was noticed on national television in the crowd of a highly anticipated football match.”

An online check showed there was no such Spanish top model named Cristina Gomez.

It also got Tengku Amir Shah's age wrong, saying he was 21. The crown prince is 23.

The fake report claimed that “the baptism of the former follower of Islam at Santa Maria Cathedral this week in Braga, Portugal, has brought much criticism on the former heir to the Selangor throne by the world Muslim community at large."

It also said, “The lovers are to be wed this month in San Marco Cathedral in romantic Venice and have not revealed where they are to spend their honeymoon.”

In the About Us section of the website, World Daily News says it is "an American Jewish Zionist newspaper based in Tel Aviv and dedicated to covering biblical archeology news and other mysteries around the globe.

"Our news team is composed of award-winning Christian, Muslim and Jewish journalists, retired Mossad agents and veterans of the Israeli Armed Forces.

"We are based in Tel Aviv since 1988 where are published more then 200,000 copies of our Daily Report paper edition everyday.

"Thank you for your interest in our newspaper and long live Israël!" it said in a four-paragraph description.

Malaysia does not have diplomatic relations with Israel, which is being widely criticised now for its continued shelling of the Gaza Strip that has led to some 700 deaths in the past few weeks.

The website is dated April 25, 2014 and has a disclaimer that says, "World News Daily Report is a news and political satire web publication, which may or may not use real names, often in semi-real or mostly fictitious ways.

"All news articles contained within worldnewsdailyreport.com are fiction, and presumably fake news. Any resemblance to the truth is purely coincidental, except for all references to politicians and/or celebrities, in which case they are based on real people, but still based almost entirely in fiction," it added. – July 25, 2014.

- Source -

I wondered how many people actually took this website seriously.

I just love the line "Our news team is composed of award-winning Christian, Muslim and Jewish journalists, retired Mossad agents and veterans of the Israeli Armed Forces.
Laptop rosak. Limited Warranty ?

hello all, ytd i when i was abt to start my laptop, i realise its literally dead. used the AC and there's no indication of power and it couldn't start as well after using the batteries. i'm using an Acer 5920G and i went to the Acer service centre in Times Sq and the initial assessment the front desk dude told me was perhaps its mobo error.

i bought it like 4mths ago and its not the first time it died. there was once i sneezed kinda hard and the laptop died for a few seconds but this time its like permanently dead. so....i'm jz curious.....is it still possible to claim under warranty for free parts and labour service ?

http://www.acer.com.my/static_content/stat...y_left#WARRANTY

i'm kinda worried abt the clause number 6 under warranty. will they actualyl deny me the right for free labour and parts service ? afterall, they can jz gimme some bullcrap and sez it was due to 'external force' and the mobo is damaged due to it and i'll need to pay to get it fixed.

so.....my question is....can i really avoid the problem ?

Unknown Source of Error

dear all,

i wouldn't say i'm a pro, but i've been given a task to fix a computer. i noe a bit about computer fixing and so i accepted the task. anyway, this task i need some help coz i can't figure out the prob.

the problem:
Upon loading Windows XP, after the loading screen, the computer immediately powers down / shuts off.

Preliminary assessment:
Windows might have problem.

Action:
Tried system restored to earlier date. XP completely fails to load. Gives 'Disk reading error' upon loading. reformatted the whole Hard disk, installed windows XP. This time, XP loads well but after several minutes, it either hangs or power off itself. showing the earlier symptoms.

Summary:
I think its hardware problem. mabbe the Harddisk is damaged or something. Is it possible ? need opinions. Thanx !!

[WTA] need information on o2 XDA Atom

hello all, i jz recently bought a 2nd hand o2 XDA Atom at Low Yat Plaza. i noticed that the pda was kinda slow in recharging. was it suppose to be like that ? i took me quite a long time to even reach the 1/2 power bar. the dealer told me it was an original battery but i doubt so coz the labeling on the battery gives me the doubts. so is it the battery's problem ?

as its a 2nd hand, i fully understand that the conditions of the item and its bundled can't really be at the original matter. the stereo wired headset is missing and i wonder how much does it cost. any idea any1 ?

since the factory setting of the PDA is kinda empty, does any1 have any good sites for recommendation to download programmes and applications ?

thanx in advance for the help !!
