Hi guys.
This is my experience on buying my new iPad 3rd gen 16 gb wifi from czone in lowyat.

Before I went there I called to check whether there's any stock left and a salesperson by the name of Ah Yung attended to me. He even reserved a unit for me in case it's sold out.

After lunch I went there to buy it from him, but before I paid I asked a very important question.

I said there are problems with the new iPad screens and asked if I find any fault with the screen can I get a 1 to 1 replacement right away? He said yes no problem and even assured me that he still got 3 units left.

When I heard that I gladly paid for my iPad and then proceed to check the screen. Lo and behold there's a bad backlight leakage at the top of the screen near the camera. So I immediately asked for a 1 to 1 replacement.

The salesperson immediately changed his tone and insisted that this problem is very common and exists in all units. But a promise is a promise right? After almost half an hour he still wouldn't budge and told me to go to the apple service center in times square 8th floor. The company name is QCD.

I went there and a staff named Jason told me all about the procedures and he said I will have to send in my unit for replacement and it will take like a week. He even warned me that I might be getting a refurbished unit. He told me to go back to the shop and insist for a replacement.

Before I walked back to lowyat i called the apple helpline. A technician by the name of David was very willing to help and I told him the whole story. Then he asked me to pass my phone to the store manager.

They talked for about 20 minutes and after they hung up, the manager told me that she will do a 1 to 1 replacement but I can only try one more time. I was hesitant but I have no other choice. I was already there for more than 2 hours and it's getting late. So I agreed.

They opened up a new unit and thank god the screen is perfect. No backlight leakage, yellow tint or any dead pixels.

This is the first time I'm buying an apple product and at first I was very disappointed. But the apple support was top notch and they changed my perception. I will buy apple again but definitely not from czone.

Arduino Uno R3

Finally my Arduino is here. Bought it from homebrew-tech.com which is an official distributor listed on the arduino.cc website.

Yeah it's expensive but it's a genuine Arduino board and not 3rd party ones. Moreover, this is the latest revision of the Uno, the R3.

Here is the package.

Connected the Arduino and installed the correct drivers. This is how it shows up in Device Manager.

Now, to test it by loading the blink sketch.

For those who knows C or C++, you will definitely feel at home when writing sketches on the Arduino IDE. If you noticed, the IDE does have a built-in delay function, just specify the time in ms in delay(). In this case I used delay(1000) which means 1 second of delay. Much easier than programming a PIC MCU.

The lecturer taught me how to display it in label on the SAME form.

DSL light stable but cant obtain DNS and gateway

ISP/package: Streamyx Unipack 4Meg
Location: Balakong, Cheras.
Have you called your ISP's helpline?: Called before, all they do for me is reset my port but it doesn't work.
Usually this problem will go off after a few hours.

Personal equipment
Modem: Dlink DSL 520B (brand new)
Router: Asus
Firewall used: None

Problem details
First occurence of problem: About 2 months ago
Problem frequency: Once a week
Problem description: DSL light stable, but in the router page, it says PPP link down. And also the modem can't automatically obtain the DNS servers and cant get default gateway.
Yeah i tried putting in the DNS servers manually, but it doesnt work.

Default Gateway: 219.93.218.177
Primary DNS Server: 202.188.0.133
Secondary DNS Server: 202.188.1.5

Can anyone help me?

Calling TM helpline doesnt help at all. All they do is create a report but after a few hours the connection is normal again.
If i dont call them after a few hours also normal again.

recently ive just got my streamyx 4meg cool uni pack line and i've hardly been able to use it.

since i got it, there has been some underground wiring theft going on outside my house,
everytime this happens, my whole area wont have phone line and internet,
i called TM and said there are 86 people affected whenever the phone line is stolen,
ive verified this with my neighbours too.

this has been going on for 5 weeks continuously,
it will take like 4-5 days to fix, and after 2-3 days, the cable will get stolen again,

because i surf until the wee hours in the morning, i know that the thieves steal it at around 3-4am. usually on weekdays.

this is seriously frustrating,

i really want to terminate streamyx and subscribe to some wireless broadband.

anyone know how much to pay to terminate the cool uni pack package?

and anyone from balakong here, im living in taman cheras jaya area.

Upgrade streamyx port

recently i just got my 4meg package.
and i heard from my friends that if tm open port to 4meg only, the speed is only around 3.6meg
so that time when the technician came to my house and check,
i told him to ask for open port 5meg cause some of my friends did get the 5meg port.
then later he agreed with me also saying he will upgrade to 5meg so that ill be able to use the max 4meg speed.
and my attainable line rate is more than 20megs.

then later he go and call tm to open to only 4meg port.
so now im stuck with around 3.5meg speed only.

i called him again to ask him about this and he said he will help me to open to 5meg later.

until now no reply from him.

i did call tm helpline and asked them about this,
they said if users get 70% of the package speed then users cant complain anymore.
WTF? 70% of 4meg is 2.8meg. so i asked her back, so if u applied for 4meg and get 2.8meg ur happy?
then she said yes. seriously WTF?

im not being nitpicky but the difference of 0.5meg translates to around 70kbps of speed.

So how do I get my port opened to 5meg?
Anyone can help?
