Direct Stock Purchase Plan

Hi, just want to ask if anyone knows any company that handles direct stock purchase plan in Malaysia? So I won't need to pay brokerage fees everytime I purchase stocks. The reason is I will be doing monthly purchase of stocks so would be rather expensive down the road from all the fees. Thanks!!

Low cost gym around PJ & Kuchai lama area

Hi Lowyat members,

I just need some suggestion, I just came to KL this year and probably will be living around PJ or Kuchai, Bukit Jalil area so I am wondering if anyone know there is any low cost gym or gym on top of the shop lot that are cheap? I find standard gym here are blood sucker, RM150 per month? I though AUD88 is expensive back in Australia.

I will be just doing, squat, deadlift, bench press, power clean & clean press, so I only need a few things to complete my workout. Suggestion will be greatly appreciated

Creating an Entrepreneur community project

Hi Everyone,

I have an idea to create an entrepreneurship community project at Kuala Lumpur. Part of the reason is to make more like-minded friends that are interested in internet startups or any form of starting a business as well as a place that everyone can gather around and share information and learn things from each other. I welcome any feedback from the lowyat community first of all and thanks a lot!!

What is this about?
I call this a community because it is non-profit, however it is the same as any other group of people who share the same interest - in this case, people interested in building business. If you put a group of gangsters together, you get an underworld organization. The power multiplies. You get the idea. Similarly, when you put a group of people interested in starting or building a business together, you create a community that can share ideas and information about starting/building business.

Power of learning
Whether you are planning to start a business or already running one, the success and failure of your business comes down to how fast you are learning about your business, the ability to continuously learn, change and test. This is the reason of creating this community. By gathering a group of people together and through sharing ideas and information, everyone in the group will be able to learn faster compare to trying things alone.

Noobs in the community
By now you might be thinking either or both things 1. How can anyone in the group help me with ideas and opinions when they know nothing about my business? 2. How can I contribute to the community at all if I don't even had any experience in starting a business? There is an old Chinese proverb, 'Amongst the three men, there will always be one that can be my teacher'. Fresh ideas, insight and opinions come from people with total different background and that is where the community can learn the most from. If there is someone from the same industry as what your business is or going to be in, I really doubt he will be willing share any ideas with you. This probably answered both questions. You don't need to have a superb background experience in order to share your ideas or opinions.

The catch
Although anyone can join this community but I think setting a few guideline give you a better idea if this is suitable for you. This community is formed on the basis of sharing information, that means you will need to contribute by giving suggestions, information, ideas or guidance to help others. And in order for others in the community to help you with your own business, you need to keep an open mind as a lot of time this will involve requiring you to disclose your business ideas, future strategies and other things in order for others to help you. But however if you find that people might 'steal' your brilliant idea, then this is not suitable for you. As I already explained this community thrive and works only if everyone is willing to help each other, therefore there is no room for you if you want to keep so much secret about your business because it will just stifle the information sharing process and the whole community will collapse.

As mention this is a community to share information and speed up our learning process. This is not a place for you if you want to raise money for your business, or you are trying to sell/promote your business product/service to people in the community.

Meeting place
I am still deciding over where should be the gathering place, but this is flexible.

Contact me
If you got any question or interested, just email me jia.yeo@gmail.com

Starcraft 2vs2 Competition

Hi to SC2 Community,

I am planning to organize a Malaysia SC2 2v2 competition. I haven't work out the details yet, exp. if it is going to be group match & knock out or pure knock out etc and other details. Prizes, I am estimating maybe RM1500-2000 for first prize, of course there will be 2nd and 3rd winner prize too. I am posting this up just to see what is the response here before going any further. As you know there are quite alot SC2 competitions for 1v1 but not 2v2. Any suggestions are welcome!!
