Suspected snake feeders and animal abusers 😡

Over the past few weeks, there has been several cases where some deranged individuals have been “adopting” rescued kittens, puppies and cats, and somehow, these pets go missing. The rescue animal groups believe these rescued animals are either being used for abuse or to feed their pet snakes.

Is there anything else these poor rescuers can do to get justice? Some have filed reports with the police but nothing has been done to catch these bastards.

Neighbors slamming doors

Bringing this up since crazy neighbors and condo issues are becoming a trend on /k again.

New PRC neighbors just moved in next to me and they love keeping their living room door open and slamming their doors all the time, be it the front door, the bathroom door and bedroom door (they’re pretty light doors). I’ve caught them in the act as well, just swinging the door against the frame with a push.

Now I thought it was ignorance but after confronting them and asking them to close the doors gently since the doors were light, they stopped for a few days and continued their weird behavior again.

I had to deal with slamming doors for the past year at my condo and it’s usually foreigners who love to do this.

Is it ignorance, a lack of civic mindedness or they just don’t give a damn?

Loud tenants…should I call the cops?

Need advice (forgive any typos as I am sorely lacking in sleep due to the below situation).

New tenant(s) moved in below me and they are quite noisy…one time they even woke me up after banging the walls in the early morning but thought this would be a one off occurrence…well I was dead wrong because last night, these jackasses threw a party that lasted from evening until early morning.

Called security twice and the loud noises stopped around 1 something but the banging noises continued throughout the early morning. And yes, these tenants in question are African (Nigerian, I believe). They didn’t seem to care about the complaints when the security came to tell them off until I personally confronted them face-to-face.

Now, my question is: next time this happens, can I call the cops and will they entertain my request to break up the party and tell them to shut the hell up? Should I file a police report against the tenant and their agent for allowing this noisy tenant in this condo? Feel so angry as I moved in to this high end condo to get away from loud idiots but now facing another noise issue!

Local notary public for overseas property

Hi sifus, need your help regarding overseas property.

For those who have purchased property overseas, would the respective country recognize documents that were notarized by our local notaries public? Or do we need to get them notarized at the respective country’s embassy or consulate?

This is in regards to property in the US. Not sure if I will need to go to the embassy or if they will accept documents notarized by our local notary public.

My cat passed away 🐈‍⬛

I adopted my cat at four weeks old last August. Her mom had died due to an accident, leaving five kittens. One died and there were four left. Her rescuer shared some of their photos in a FB adoption group and I was instantly enamored when I saw the tiny black kitten with blue eyes. I took her home while someone else adopted the other three siblings.

The kitten was healthy, though as months passed, she was still small for her size. In April, she ate pieces of cling film and bread, which hardened in her tummy but she managed to vomit them up. I took her to two vets and an animal hospital to rule out any damage in her stomach or intestines. She had an X-ray and blood tests done to rule out any other foreign objects in her tummy.

Three months later, and just two days ago, my cat (just turned 1 years old), suddenly stopped eating and drinking. She was sleeping a lot, listless and lethargic. She kept hiding underneath the chair and inside a box that she loved playing in. When I took her out of the box and observed her, I saw that she kept sticking out her tongue and was breathing erratically. I thought something might have been lodged in her throat or stomach, similar to the other time when she ate plastic.

I took her to Animal Medical Center and the vets decided to keep her overnight for observation. My family member kept calling for updates but we didn’t receive any calls until later that afternoon, when one vet called saying they had to resuscitate my cat. When we got there, it was too late…she had passed away. Later, the vet explained that they found fluid and blood in her lungs and her heart was enlarged. She also explained that she might have had FIP or a heart condition that might have caused this sudden passing. She also mentioned that my cat was still active at lunch time, and managed to eat a portion of her food. I was in shock because I’ve always brought my cat to the clinic at the sign of a problem and she has received all shots and was even spayed at 6 months old. Even her X-rays three months ago showed that she was in prime kitten health - heart was good, no sign of stress in her lungs or stomach.

I was in denial and even questioned the vet’s findings. Had to call the previous vet who took the X-ray in April to figure out what was the actual cause of her death. I couldn’t get over the fact that she died from an illness or an underlying heart condition when she was so playful and active from the get go!

Little did I know that she even with all the good food she ate (Petchef, Carnilove), and treats, toys, houses, - that she would pass so suddenly after 11 months of living together. I wish I had sent her to the hospital earlier when she didn’t eat her lunch but I thought she was just being picky. Looking at her toys now, I feel so helpless and keep crying thinking about her. Loved her so much.

To all pet owners out there, at the first sign of trouble, do send them to the vet or hospital and ask them to do any tests possible. We brought her in for stomach concerns and it turned out to be her lungs and heart instead. 😞

First City Parking @ Gleneagles KL - Beware!

Hi All,

Today I visited Gleneagles KL for an appointment with my ortho, whom I haven't seen in years. Since they have additional parking at Block B, I decided to park inside the building, instead of the outdoor parking near the specialists building.

When I went to pay at the parking machine, I was a bit puzzled to see that the rate was higher than expected - RM10 instead of RM7 for two hours of parking. According to their rate card, the first hour for parking is RM4, and subsequent hour is RM3. Once the receipt was printed and I looked at the timing, I realized that the machine was almost 10 minutes earlier than my watch and phone, meaning they charged me an additional RM3 for the next hour, due to the time in their system. I entered the parking building at 10:59, paid at 12:54pm, but the time on their machine stated 13:04.

One of the parking attendants was there and I asked her why was the time in their machine way more advanced than the time in our phone. The girl said all of their machines were like that and I couldn't get a refund because that was their policy. I told her that this was blatant cheating and that I would call up their HQ and make a complaint.

After a few minutes going back and forth with the guy on the phone, I demanded my refund and the girl gave it to me with a displeased look in her face. I asked her why was she handing out the money to me like a beggar, because what they were doing is not right, and they should not cheat their patients/customers. She had the cheek to argue that I am wrong and I can't say they're cheating people because they're not cheating anybody. Actually, if they knew that the timing was incorrect, why did they never fix it?

Anyways, anyone know which agency or government department I can file a complaint to? I've already filed a complaint with Gleneagles but knowing that this parking management (and others) are not abiding by the correct time just to profit from their customers is maddening.

If anyone notices that the parking machine time is way more advanced than the time on your watch/phone, don't be afraid to stand up for your rights, complain and demand for a refund or adjustment of your parking ticket. Stop these unscrupulous parking management businesses from profiteering off unsuspecting people. For some people, it might just be RM3, but why should we pay for something that is not correct?

Removing first name on IC

Hi All,

Can anyone share their experience on changing/removing their legal name from their IC?

Have done my research and found out that I need to go to the nearest JPN and file an application, and there may or may not be an interview questioning the reason for the name change.

For context, I have three first names (you know how Malay names can be frigging long) and I don’t even use my first name, except when I go to the hospital, gov agencies, etc. When filling up legal forms, it is a hassle having to write out my full legal name on every page, plus I use my professional name at work and everywhere else (I’ve never liked my first name and cringe when people call me by that name).

Can anyone share their success story on shortening their name? Is “changing name to professional name” a valid reason?

Soundproofing ceiling in condo...need advice

Hi guys,

Anyone here has successfully installed acoustic foam or tiling to absorb some sounds coming from the upstairs unit?

Some background on why I need this installed:

Been living in a condo for a year and all was well until my next door neighbors and upstairs neighbor moved in with their kids. Previously, the unit was so peaceful and quiet until these neighbors moved in and made my life hell what with all the running and pounding sounds (kids must be jumping as well).

Can’t really fully place the blame on them since the developer cheaped out on the materials, but I have spoken to the neighbors regarding the noise and it has decreased after a certain time. However, when the kids are running, the pounding is still giving me a headache.

I’ve installed a plaster ceiling but am looking into redoing it and getting a professional well versed in soundproofing to lay some acoustic panelling or foam and install a new plaster ceiling (mainly for the living room).

For those who have done this, would like to know: has it worked? How much did you spend and can you recommend your contractor?
