Stereotyping

My parents has an unhealthy attitude to stereotype.

They come to know where the person I'm dating is from, they advise me people from that area are materialistic and should avoid.

They come to know the dialect of the family of the the person I'm dating, they advise me to stay away cuz this branch of people are fierce and controlling.

They also advise to look for others due to the physical of the person I'm dating is what they presume to have hard time giving natural birth.

Maybe its just that the way they advise me turns out to be really disrespectful and hurtful but maybe they just don't want me to be taken advantage and controlled. Either way I am feeling affected by the directness of their advise filled with prejudices and stereotype.

Like, what they want me to do? Tell the person I'm dating, "Sorry let's break up, cuz you and your family are from xxx area of town, cuz you and your family are from xxx dialect descendants, cuz you are physically not up to par.

External Auditing, Commercial Accounting, etc...

I see majority of accounting grads be it professional or degree seems to be in favour of joining external audit(esp big4) over commercial accounting in MNCs.

I'm just curious of the reason why.

Most of the time the answer I get is you learn and progress faster in external audit, while commercial accounting in MNCs might begin with higher pay, you get stuck doing routine stuff and slow career progression up the corporate ladder. Some even say the max you go is up to asst manager/manager while in Auditing u can get a much higher position in commercial after you stayed in auditing in a number of years.

How much is this true? As I do know that commercial accounting is different from external auditing, its 2 different line of work.

And from what I know, you have to atleast be at the level of a principal or director in external audit before becoming eligible to take on a high role in commercial, anything lower u might just get to become a manager when u switch to commercial.

As so many decided not to side with the latter, it created a myth that an average joe will eventually get stuck in commercial accounting at some point while another average joe who fight on long enough in external audit would eventually get somewhere further if persistent.

As these are all only feedback from people like fresh grads and people who only in the early part of their career, I wonder how much of these are indeed true or are these part of the result of the effective marketing of the external audit career esp by big4's name and glamour.

I myself has been in external auditing for almost 2 years now and contemplating on a move to an MNC.
