formatting corrupted ntfs partition in ubuntu

hi there, i have ubuntu dual booting with win vista, for some reason, the vista could not be booted after i have done some mounting job over external harddrive, i would like to format the vista partition to linux partition, how can i do it? i afraid it will corrupt my other linux partition.

laptop wifi disabled by vista?

my boss dell xps 1330M wifi got disconnected almost everyday in the office, while the other colleagues who use WinXP have no problem when it happen, is there anyone face the same problem here?

i got my vista dual boot with ubuntu 7.10, there was 1 day that it could not mount my usb external drive, i tried to mount it to a folder called sdb as the drive was detected as sdb when i check in dmesg, after a few round trying, now i can't boot into vista ever again, and the previous mounted ntfs vista drive also not accessible, is there anyway to fix it? thanks

drive corrupted

hi, my D drive in my vista corrupted out of no reason, when i check on the properties, it shows 0 bytes, but whenever i on the windows, it will start to check for the consistency, and it says no problem, but i just can not access it, do you guys know how to solve it? i have lots of data there and would like to copy it out.

recently helping colleagues to install ubuntu in DELL　XPS running on Vista, after i put in the CD, it gave me this error under busybox.

/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
(initramfs)

any idea?

i have 2 SDSL in the office both hosting website, but recently (about 2 weeks) people just hardly can connect to the website, however, we can browse the net without problem, called TMNET and they said all no problem, i check the bandwidth with streamyx speedtest all OK, but when i use speedtest.net speedtest, the upload speed is damn low, sometime is a few kbps only, have anyone else having the same problem?

not sure if it is the right place to ask, but i am looking to setting this inbound load balancing for my Peplink device, it has inbound load balancing but i tried to set it by pointing the A-record to the load balancer, but it doesnt load balance at all until now, the guide given was easy but i could make it work. has any one set this before?

linksys pre N router

i just bought this WRT300N pre N router from Linksys, but when i put it in, the signal is not so strong, the signal can only up to par with my another 3com b router only, i was using mixed mode, i tried N mode but the wifi b card on the laptop not able to connect to the router, has anyone faced this bedore?

i have been having problem to connect to wifi in linux and ubuntu for years, only recently i need to get it up seriously, but then after going through all the ndiswrapper thingy, the windows driver was installed but still cannot get the wlan0 up and running, have you guys got it done before?

i borrowed this from a fren to try to set it up as modem, but then i can only got it up as router for ppp0a connection with fix ip, my router cannot router the traffic from linksys to the network, how to disable the router capability in the linksys gateway?

recovering deleted partition

was trying to mount the ntfs formatted external HDD, but accidentally deleted the whole HDD by mkntfs command, now all the data lost and i need to get it back, tried test disk but it did not show me the old partition, is there any other way to recover the files??
