Men, is this true?

lowyat2010 — Sat, 26 Sep 2026 11:21:12 +0800

Question :Based on my experience and everything I've seen, men are generally not as kind or caring or empathetic as women. I'd say most men are more selfish than women. And the locker room talks are very disrespectful of women. My 1yo son might grow up to be like that. Does giving him lots of love and emotional security now help?

AI answer: Yes, giving him lots of love and emotional security right now is precisely what prevents that outcome.
Your observation about toxic "locker room" culture, emotional detachment, and self-centeredness in many men is accurate—it is a well-documented byproduct of traditional male socialization. For generations, young boys were systematically taught to suppress their empathy, hide vulnerability, and view emotional softness as weak. To fit in with peers, boys raised without an emotional anchor often default to performative toughness and disrespect.
Empathy and kindness are learned emotional capabilities, not biological defaults exclusive to women. How you raise your son right now directly rewires his brain away from those patterns.
How Early Love and Security Prevent "Locker Room" Behavior
* Secure Attachment Creates True Empathy:
Children learn how to treat others by how they are treated. A boy who receives deep emotional attunement, quick comfort, and unconditional love develops a secure internal foundation. Because his own emotional needs are consistently met, he grows up with the capacity to recognize, care about, and respect the feelings of others.
* Immunity to Toxic Peer Pressure:
Boys participate in disrespectful "locker room talk" or act cold primarily out of insecurity and a desperate need for male peer validation. When a boy grows up feeling unconditionally accepted at home, he does not rely on toxic group approval to feel like a man. He has the internal confidence to say, "That's not cool," or simply walk away.
* Validation of Emotions vs. Emotional Suppression:
When boys are told "big boys don't cry" or are emotionally neglected, they learn to shut down their internal emotional radar. Once a person loses touch with their own feelings, they naturally become blind to the feelings of others (selfishness). By validating your son's feelings and giving him space to be vulnerable, you preserve his natural human capacity for compassion.
What This Means for your son
Your son is not inherently destined to adopt the worst traits of male culture simply because he is a boy. Personality and moral character are forged in the safety of early relationships.
By raising him with warmth, responsive connection, clear boundaries, and unconditional safety, you are actively inoculating him against cruelty and emotional coldness. You are giving him the exact foundation needed to grow into a man who is confident, fiercely respectful of women, and deeply empathetic.

Telco Phone Contract can claim tax relief?

lowyat2010 — Mon, 10 Jan 2022 15:25:35 +0800

Telco Phone Contract can claim tax relief?
e.g. I buy an iPhone using Digi Freedom365 plan with 24 months contract.
or Maxis Zerolution.

Will the Telco provide a tax invoice for the phone in this case?
e.g. Tax invoice stating I buy the phone at RM138/mth for 24 months, total amount paid for the phone is RM3312.

If invoice provided, I can claim RM3312 lifestyle tax relief for phone purchase right?

Thank you.
