WTS: SUPER RARE Taylor 714CE made in 1999

I'm a Canadian student returning home soon and I managed to acquire this beautiful guitar through acoustic guitar forums from the US. It's a beautiful guitar, made in 1999 (will upload pictures and videos later) and super rare. Not only are aged Taylor's still highly valued because of their quality, but the woods have been toned and mellowed for years, giving it a distinct sound which is perfect for jazz and blues. Very resonant.

Here's a sample video I made of the guitar:

It's in 7/10 condition with the usual signs of age and dings. The electronics are also pretty old but they seem to work fine. (If you really want to you can replace it with a newer pick up no problem anyway). I got this for about 2200 US so the price will be RM6000, firm. I won't let it go for anything less than that because I'm actually quite reluctant to sell it in the first place but I need to upgrade my computer for my computer classes.

Selling quick! This is a steal! A full priced 2014 714ce goes for RM13000 (based on what I've seen from other ads here) and the tone is still overly bright since it's new. This has better sound (if you like the mellow, deep tone more) and goes for less than half price! If you buy two of these you could save enough money to get a brand new one lol

Type/Shape : 6-String Grand Auditorium
Back & Sides : Indian Rosewood
Top : Western Red Cedar (or Spruce, I'm not sure since this is the 1999 model)
Soundhole Rosette : Abalone
Neck : Tropical American Mahogany
Fretboard : Ebony
Fretboard Inlay : Small Pearl Dots
Headstock Overlay : Indian Rosewood
Binding : Indian Rosewood
Bridge : Ebony
Nut & Saddle : Tusq
Tuning Machines : Gold-plated Taylor Tuners
Scale Length : 25 1/2 Inches
Truss Rod : Adjustable
Neck Width at Nut : 1 3/4 Inches
Number of Frets : 20
Fretboard Radius : 15 Inches
Cutaway : Venetian
Body Width : 16 Inches
Body Depth : 4 5/8 Inches
Body Length : 20 Inches
Overall Length : 41 Inches

Recording Music like Boyce Avenue

Okay, so I'm planning on creating a cover band to at least try and live up to the standard of Boyce Avenue. I don't really have a studio backing me like the one Boyce Avenue has (Phat Planet Studios or something) so I've been trying to set up my own studio to try and get a good enough sound to at least compete with BA offerings.

As for music videos I'm pretty confident in that so it shouldn't be a problem. Just get a good Canon DSLR, get a lens with wide aperture and then apply good color corrections in a dark room with some lights set up in the background and foreground. Cut to many camera angles of the instruments being played and the singer and voila! Boyce Avenue quality music video.

As for my home setup, I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (since I'll be doing mostly acoustic recording through mics, so I need a good preamp)

a Rode NT1-A as my condenser, and a set of Shure Sm57 and Sm58 as my dynamics. I might buy an AT2020 later. Since I can only use my room for recording I plan on just deadening the sound I record as much as possible and then synthetically adding reverb later to compensate.

Any ideas on what else I need to do to achieve BA level recordings??

I have my own little home studio at home which I recently set up. The problem is I use a Rode NT-1A and it picks up the humming sound coming from my laptop!

Any solution? I've tried wrapping it in towels but that causes a problem with overheating.

Musicians wanted for experimental cover group

SKIP TO BOTTOM TO SKIP BIO

Hey guys. I'm a recording musician from New Zealand (born there but still chinese) who's currently applying for universities here in my home town. I actively associate and play in a live music setting with a wide range of musicians. But despite all my dabbling with bands, I have never taken the chance to produce a solo project of my own. (It's a bit hard when you're as good looking as I am and you scare all the jealous guys away)

So right now as I wait for the results of my university application, I have decided to use my incredible looks (cough cough) and music abilities to create a cover band!

SKIP HERE FOR NO FRILLS DESCRIPTION

I am creating a cover band that will be called "The Asian Collective", and I am currently seeking members. Pay mind that this band WILL be a full fledged one, so I will be screening for quality (sorry to all 18-below slightly below average starting out musicians in advance).

To give you an idea of what the band will look and sound like, here's the cover video which has inspired the feel I am looking for.

Tyler Ward and Gang - Pumped Up Kicks

So basically, the idea for the Asian Collective is that it will be:

1. an asian equivalent to the modern boy band (but not as gay)
2. Emit a generally 'fun' vibe as opposed to trying to look cool (like most boy bands)
3. Have a mixture of boys and girls (so it isn't gay)
4. Will have sound on par with that of Tyler Ward and etc (As such we will be recording all covers exclusively in a recording studio)
5. Have a colourful mix of great people!

Any volunteers must possess these qualities

1. Must be asian. (Sorry whities, but it's called "Asian Collective" for a reason. Though I can't see why we can't make an exception for guest artists.)
2. Must be willing to dabble with new people (That's pretty much 80% of the fun right there!)
3. Must be relatively perfectionist (Since we've gotta keep quality up to a certain level, and I mean TYLER WARD or BOYCE AVENUE quality)

Preferably, volunteers will fall into these categories (categories of which when completed will be a full list of talents)

1. A guitarist
2. 4 vocalists
3. A percussionist
4. An arrangement specialist
5. A bassist
6. And a cameraman for good measure
7. Another member for anything I've left out (suggestions welcome!)

These talents can be interchangeable. (Example: a guitarist can also be the arrangement specialist etc etc.)

It looks like an amazing project and I'm excited about the possibilities!

If you think you have any of the above talents and you'd like to be a part of something with the potential to be AWESOME (and experimental), just let me know!

Looking forward to replies!

-Aaron
