hi.

am about to buy a 5.1 speaker system. am presently thinking of the logitech z-5500.
the problem is that it is somewhat an aging system, and the prices in malaysia seem a bit high compared to actual product price in the US, which has dropped quite a bit. maybe local retailers still hanging on to old stock? keke.

but its the only one ive seen which meets my requirements.

im planning to connect the speaker to my macbook, which would require an optical in port. other speaker systems do not have this port, and subsequently, are missing onboard sound processing. DTS, Dolby.... etc.

is there any suggestions on an alternative?

let me know if there is comparable sound to be had on a budget of rm 1500 - 2000. i'm open to a/v receiver / speaker combos as well.
ive found a yamaha setup for about 1700 at a big box store. with a receiver / speaker combo i have far better connectivity and upgrade options and am willing to spend a bit extra on such a system.

devices that would connect to the system includes, macbook, xbox360 and a ps3 soon.

any suggestions?

Hi

Im looking to buy an entry level DSLR and have quite settled on the Canon 450D.

My question is.. whats the lowest price i can get it for, the only accesory i require is the bag.. I can do without an included memory card or tripod at this moment.

It would be better if the shop is located in the areas of KL, puchong or cyberjaya.

The other thing is that during my research for a camera i have seen a number of people posting about autofocus issues with the Canon 450D.
How is the experience of forum members on this issue?

DS lite charging prob

i bought a DS lite last saturday.

i've only tried to charge it today, but its not working. the orange light (which i believe is the charge light) blinks only once and then goes off.
the battery is now completely drained.

if i switch the electrical outlet on and off i get one blink, so i guess the charger is getting the power.

any explanations?

EDIT:
the charger is rated 110V.

original xbox titles regional free on X 360

today i received ninja gaiden (PAL) for the original xbox.
i had heard that ninja gaiden and halo 2 are region free and and playable on all xbox 360s, whatever the region.

but i cant play NG on my NTSC/J box.. it says the disc is from another region.

so i was wondering if PAL xbox games do not work at all on NTSC xbox 360 systems?

disc read error

i got gears of war!

but now with the disc there are sometimes disc read errors.. and i was wondering if this was just a disc prob or disc read errors mean something wrong with system.

because disc looks very clean, and the next time it is played, the error doesnt come up.

i also got a brief red ring of light once..

are these games still up for sale (even second hand or exchange)?

hi.

i've been planning to get an xbox360 from malaysia this month. but due to unforseen (well, a little bit) circumstances i ended up giving the order for a guy to purchase the system from Singapore today. A shop called Vision, thats all i know.

i asked (in writing) for a Asian Premium Xbox360 (modified: i'm sorry fellow forum posters, but i have my reasons) and the price was something close to US$ 500.

on the phone with a guy from the shop, i did ask for details, but it was not very helpful. I managed to understand that he was giving everything (three controllers? some games??) but it was not very clear, what exactly.

this forum has been pretty helpful to me in deciding in getting what from where, so im asking the members if the price quoted is appropriate? and are there modified consoles available in singapore for that price? If i get the premium console and it turns out to be not modified, i would still be happy.

so any thoughts? anything i should know? the package would be arriving via a sea route within 15 days.
