[WTA] PC Cleaning, CPU and GPU Repaste

Checking around if you guys do CPU and GPU Repaste after certain usage duration. Bought my PC back in 2020 and started playing back some AAA games from pre-2020 era (Final Fantasy XV etc). I noticed that my GPU temperature hover around 80c even though I set the resolution to LOW and running 1080p. Wondering if the CPU and GPU paste is dried out and need to be replaced.
Spec:
AMD Ryzen 5 3600
RTX 2070 Super
16GB RAM

Do let me know if any shop you guys recommend to do PC Cleaning and Repaste job. The components price so high now so hopefully the cleaning job don't fry my PC during the process.

[WTA] Ways to increase Signal within House

Hi all, recently my residence faces internet downtime from Unifi. The downtime causes adults within the residence not able to work since we relies heavily on internet. We try to use mobile data inside the house but the data reception is really bad (Even though there is 4G, the connection is not stable).
So I'm thinking if there is anyway to increase the mobile signal within the house? I saw there are LTE Booster / Signal booster selling on Lazada/Shopee, wondering if they are reliable or safe to used?
The signal outside the house is quite good, good internet speed and 4G LTE signal. But once stepped into the house, then the signal will dropped quite badly.

[WTA] Root cause for Thermal Throttling

Hi all, recently my laptop seems to suffer from thermal heating issue. I was casual gaming previously without issue but notice FPS dropped badly for past few weeks.

I installed HWInfo and found the CPU is hovering around 90c even under light load (Normal youtube surfing with only 1 tab open)

I have done the following but the CPU temperature seems to be still high 90c under normal load.

1. Reformat whole laptop
2. Send laptop to shop for servicing (Fan cleaning and apply new thermal paste)

I have attached the HWInfo graph for reference while I'm surfing youtube with 1 tab open

The following is my laptop spec:
Thinkbook 15 Series
Intel i5-1135G7
16GM RAM
Intel Iris Xe Graphics

Also wondering could it be the fan is not working properly leading to heat issue. I did feel the fan is sucking in cold air from the vent but the keyboard side of the CPU location still feel hot.

Welcome any feedback on this

Wifi Switch - Bad Contact or Wire Too Hot

Hi all, I installed a Wifi Switch for my Solar Water Heater 2 years ago. The Solar Water Heater require 15A so I installed a 20A rated Wifi Switch. Everything is working fine until the ELCB start tripping recently and issue is caused by the Solar Water Heater. Found there is some spark/melting sign of the Load Contact.

We swapped to a regular 20A switch (Schneider brand) but the ELCB is still tripping due to the Solar Water Heater. Already called the technician to come in and check the Solar Water Heater for any possible ground leakage.

Now TS want to ask if anyone know if the switch is the sign of
a) Bad Contact (Maybe the Live wire did not install properly)
b) Load too high and the hot temp melt the plastic cover (Even though the switch is 20A rated)

Should I continue to get new Wifi Switch for the Water Heater or just resort to old Timer Switch, since we mainly turn on the Water Heater during 6AM-7AM and 6PM-7PM (No more hot water left period, recently a lot of rain)

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Any REAL Unlimited Broadband Wifi Available?

Hi all, currently my new house don't have Unifi available due to Full Port. They said they are laying new ports in the area but we think it might take a while. Currently we're looking for any broadband wifi plan which have following criteria:
1. REAL Unlimited Data Quota
2. Possible short contract or no contract at all

So far we found MaxisONE Go Wifi has the highest Data Quota (300GB/month, then throttle) and it don't have the contract bond if we didn't purchase the router?

I know the criteria are a bit over, but we have 5 members in the house and 4 are WFH adults. So the unlimited data quota is kinda important.

Thanks.

Any way to only allow Calls have Ringtone

Hi all, I owned a Huawei P30 and wonders if there's any option to only allow Calls have ringtone sound. Then the other notifications (Whatsapp, Telegram, FB etc) to only vibrate?

I saw few people mentioned "Do Not Disturb" but it cause notifications not to vibrate. Other mentions configure notification settings for each app which is quite a long job.

Anyone know solution on this?

Cable configuration for External HDD/SSD

Hi all, my sister owns a iMac Retina 4k and she want to upgrade the internal drive to SSD. However the upgrade cost is a bit high so I was thinking if there's any alternative for external drive.

So I came up with some configurations and need some opinions if that will work. Her current setup should have a Thunderbolt (USB Type-C) port and some USB 3.0 ports so,

Setup 1:
Buy internal SSD, get a casing and SATA to Type-C converter and connect to the Thunderbolt port (Is this possible? Can the Thunderbolt port used for file transfer?)

Setup 2:
Buy internal SSD, get a casing and SATA to USB 3.0 converter and use USB 3.0 port on the iMac

Setup 3:
Get an external SSD (wonder if there's any reliable brand on the market now) and use USB 3.0.

Some main concern here are reliability of the SSD and the transfer speed of the SSD since it's converted instead of directly connected to SATA. So hope I can get some feedback from you guys.

Source:

Hi all, my computer starts freezing in the morning then I have the memory issue buzzer beep when I restart. I suspect the dimm slots are spoiled and 2/4 of the dimm slots were spoiled last year. So now I think 3/4 of them are spoiled.

So if I were to use the existing setup for 1-2years, is it better for me to just buy the mobo or straight upgrade (new mobo+ram+cpu)?

Thanks.

The following is my spec:
Processor :Core i5 3570K (Haven't OC)
Mobo : Asrock Z77 Pro3
HDD : WD Blue 1TB
PSU : Seasonic S12 II 620W
RAM : Kingston 4GB DDR3-1333 x2
GC: GTX 750Ti
