Q: What do you think of the "ladder theory"?

Many people believe in the so-called "ladder theory" or the "friend zone" that supposedly exists in women's thinking. According to the theory, once a guy is placed by a girl on the "friend ladder" or the "friend zone", he will never be able to be more than friends with the said girl. Some have even claimed that if you are, say, "good friends" with the girl for months or years or anything along those lines, you aren't ever getting her. I'm wondering what your opinions are about that. Strongly believe? Maybe? Dunno? Not at all?

Tomorrow if I feel like it I may want to share my own recent story which, I believe, highly relates to this "ladder theory", and no, it does not have a sad ending.

newbie guitar question

Guys, I would like to know if any of you have experience removing and installing guitar nuts before. I've googled a few links but I would still appreciate tips from people with experience here. I read that carpenter glue is the most ideal for the new nut, but is there any good alternative? Super glue cap gajah or something? Thanks in advance!

Problem with opening Flash .exe file

Hello LYN forumers,

I have an old .exe Flash file (is there any specific name for it?) in my laptop. It was created by a friend way before this laptop was even manufactured, during the days of Windows XP and single core processors. Now I'm trying to view the file again but it doesn't seem to work the way it used to in my old desktop. Is this a Vista-related problem? Any solutions for me to be able to open this file? I tried downloading a software called Advanced Flash Player v1.1 to try to convert it to .swf but that doesn't work either. It says "Your selected exe file is not a valid Standard Projector File".

Any help will be very much appreciated, thanks.

kinda curious. girls and boys welcome to answer

When a girl says something like: "We are still young, girlfriending and boyfriending are just terms anyways"

i.e.

When a girl basically says she doesn't really wanna care about all those things until after studies are done with and all... do they really mean it most of the time? I'm quite a skeptic because I've already met a few others who say those things and end up finding boyfriends in uni or earlier anyway, so... yeah, I don't really believe those words. Or am I interpreting it wrong?

Oh and fyi I also don't really care about all these things, life's full of better things to do right now. But I'm curious.

Answer away

help - Laptop no sound

Basically I was using my laptop to play music for an event today, but I forgot to support the weight of the audio lead (which was connected to the headphones port) properly. Basically, my laptop's audio ports (headphones and mic) are now bent and my laptop doesn't have any audio unless i straighten those ports. Is there any way to fix this thing, like by disabling those ports so that the laptop will just play sounds normally?

Any of you know where this hotel called Guest House is? I know it's somewhere in Bukit Bintang "near Lot 10". One of my friends will be in KL for 3 days 2 nights and she'll be staying there. Any of you can guide me on how to get there by driving? How about by monorail?

Driver banned after driving 10 mph on highway

LONDON (Reuters) - A woman banned from driving for seven days after traveling at speeds of less than 10mph on the motorway told Reuters on Friday: "that road's my nemesis." Stephanie Cole, 58, of Fishponds, Bristol, straddled the hard shoulder and inside lane as she dawdled along a stretch of the M32 near her home last August.

In the back window of the car was a sign which said: "I don't do fast, please overtake."

Cole admitted driving without reasonable consideration at North Avon Magistrates' Court on Friday and was told she would have to take another test at the end of the ban.

"I didn't intend getting onto the motorway, but all of a sudden I found myself on it and I could not get off," she told Reuters after the hearing.

"I just panicked. I hate that particular stretch of road and I avoid it normally. It is my nemesis."

Cole had been traveling from her home to a stationer's when she was arrested in her Perodua Kenari mini people-carrier.

"I thought "thank God" when I saw the blue flashing lights," she said. "I thought they could help and I asked them if they could drive me home."

Cole, who has multiple sclerosis, said she depends on her car for getting around.

"I will try and retake the test," she said.

"I will have to do my best when driving, and hope it is better than it was."

(Editing by Steve Addison)

The first thing about the news item that reminded me of Malaysia is extremely slow drivers, except that the Malaysian ones are usually too stupid to go to the left lane despite being so slow. As if their parents owned the entire highway.

But really, of all cars... haha, coincidence.

[WTA] Mazda Astina, Ford Laser, Wira 1.6

Any of you sifus here know more details of the cars I listed above, or any alternatives to them? Particularly on maintenance and availability of spare parts.

I'll be overseas for studies starting on February, and since my dad is selling off his car soon, I'll have no car to drive around when I come back to Malaysia. I'm thinking of saving money and also earning money during my free time overseas, hopefully enough to get one of those cars that I listed.

I know it's kinda stupid to buy a car here when I'll be spending most of my time overseas. But I also have another relative looking to get a car with that kinda budget too (he's a fan of the Astina), so he may be able to take care and use it when I'm away. And maintenance will be on him too.

I know that the old Mazdas and Fords are inter-related, which also includes the way they both have rarer spare parts than Toyota, Honda or Nissan. Are they that much more expensive to maintain? If I want a low-maintenance budget, I can always opt for a 1994-1995 Wira 1.6 manual which seem to fit in that budget (from motortrader.com.my anyway). Any common complaints/problems about that particular type of Wira? I know the auto one has lots of gearbox problems, but I don't mind manual at all, heck I prefer it.

[WTA] 1986 Mitsubishi Galant (Super Touring)

Hello there FnF ppl.

My uncle has an old Mitsubishi Galant 1.8M that he may be selling next year since he's upgrading to a better car.

At the same time, my dad is considering selling his MPV next year (since it won't be needed anymore), and getting an affordable 2nd hand car for his use. While it's not very likely he'll decide to get the Galant (which is 2 years older than me ) , my dad is very curious on what kind of mods can be done to it. Specifically the engine.

So, do any of you guys know? Is it possible to transplant a 4G93 or a 4G63 into it? No need turbo la, just a more powerful, modern engine also enough already, fuel price is rising T_T .

On a side note I LOVE driving that car despite its age. It still handles well and has good ride comfort, not to mention spaciousness. Can't say much about power but the torque is good enough .

Help needed: Can't retrieve or create account

I just got my new copy of BF2 Complete Collection yesterday and finished installing everything up to Armored Fury and V1.4. However, I can't seem to create a new account using my email address because the game says the email address has already been used. So I went to EA Games and got my old account name and password for that address, then tried again. But now BF2 says that "the uniquenick is incorrect." So what am I supposed to do now?

btw I posted this on Tech Support but seeing how slow that thread moves, I think posting here would be better.

help needed: network adapter disables itself!

I'm using a Dell Inspiron bought in June 2007. It's Wifi adapter seems to be having a problem with my home router. My router is a Netgear WGR 614 while my modem is a Billion... I forgot. I'll check it out later if you guys need the info.

The problem is that the network adapter seems to disable itself after about 20 minutes of being connected to my home network, sometimes even disabling as I start up the laptop. If it can last more than an hour, however, it usually enabled the entire day.

When the disabling problem occurs, the Wifi light on my laptop switches off. Even if I switch off and on the Wifi switch again, it wouldn't restore it. Oh, and when this occurs I get "Limited Connectivity" instead of "Access: Local and Internet" .

Funny thing is that this only happens with my home router. I've tried other wireless networks and this problem never occured. My friend who has an Inspiron 1420 with Vista also experienced this exact same problem when he was at my house the other day.

I've called Dell Customer Service and even got redirected to Netgear Customer Service after discussing for a while. Currently suspect it's something to do with my router's settings conflicting with Vista, but I have no idea what. Any of you know this problem?
