Gigibit NIC slow upload on 1.0Gbps, ok on 100Mbps

Hello,

I hope this is the correct section.

I have a PC with an onboard Realtek 8168 PCIe Gigabit connected to a D-Link 655 Gigabit router.

Here's the odd situation: when speed/duplex is set to 100Mbps, my upload speed using www.Speedtest.net is fine (~3.0 Mbps). However, when I switched it over to 1.0Gbps, it goes down all the way to 0.06 Mbps. Download speed is generally unaffected.

I can't tell which is the likely culprit!

Onboard NIC faulty/underpowered?
Faulty cable (highly doubt, I've tried 5+)?
Or is it a matter of settings? I turned off QoS and WISH on the router, but it didn't do much.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

-Nick

Using 2 routers (1 Gigabit+wifi, the other not)

Hi,

My current home network is routed through a Gigabit wifi router (Router #1), using an SDSL as my Internet link. I recently signed up for 2nd line, a dialup-ADSL, and purchased a Linksys RV042 VPN 10/100 router (Router #2), which has a load balancing feature that will allow me to use both lines concurrently. It however, has no Wi-Fi.

So, I'm thinking I'll wire both my Internet lines into Router #2 to utilize the load balancing feature, then connect Router #2 to Router #1 (my existing home network). Is that possible? And more importantly, how do I set it up so that my local network will still benefit from the Gigabit speed AND wifi of Router #1?

I've read somewhere about making sure both routers don't have conflicting IP addresses, and to switch off the DHCP for one, but I don't know on which

router I should be making the changes on.

Thanks in advance for the help!

-Nick
