Pros and Cons of specific programming language

Hi guys I was wondering if you can help on my literature review.
I am expected to do compare and contrast for some programming language in the market, e.g. Vb.net, C++, C#.

I can get those advantages and disadvantages, but most of them are from blog or forums. which in my campus point of view the source has a low credibility and foolishly my campus doesn't allow citation or reference from webopedia, therefore I am expected to find it from another source or from expert review.

The problem is I couldn't find any product in market in which saying its benefit and it's disadvantages.
Therefore if anyone of you found/know any site which cloud help me. please share it with me. Thanks!

Get query error msg

Hi, I am a newbie in Codeigniter. I am wondering if I could get some help over here.

I wanted to get error msg from my query.
Let's say I don't have a table named "test" yet I query it.

Therefore I expect it to return error msg kind of what php do with their mysql_error function.
E.g. 1146: Table 'kossu.nonexistenttable' doesn't exist

however since codeigniter is multi-db framework I am hoping to be able to get it from all the database platforms, not mysql only.

Please tell me if any functions to get the error message in codeigniter.
Thanks in advance.

I did my homework my doing several research before I actually ask here.
I found out codeigniter has $this->db->_error_message(); function, however it doesn't give any result for query error.

If I am not mistaken it could only work for error in DB connection not query.

Please codeigniter sifu, help me.
I did research about calling non native function of codeigniter http://codeigniter.com/user_guide/database...l_function.html. Should I giving up my hope and use this instead?

Dying. because of Flex

I'm currently having a problem where I couldn't get expected character set in my client (Flex 4) where I believe my backend(PHp) has returned the expected result.

however when retrieved by Flex things just changed into some gigos.

What should I changed in flex??

AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G vs AF-S 50mm f/1.4G

I have D3100 body, and pretty much falling in love with it.
D3100 is a DX model with no focus motor build in the body itself.

Currently I only have kit lens which is 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6G and I am thinking to buy a prime lens for my daily use.

In fact I am confuse on what lens should I buy.
either AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G or AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G
I read on the reviews. Both are giving an amazing and stunning picture as the result. but I am curious on which one should I go for.

Since AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G prince is 2.3X of AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G price, I need a strong justification on choosing AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G.

I will use the lens for portrait.
and I heard from my friend that AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G lens will eventually become 52mm on my D3100 body, is it true??
Is there is any 3rd party recommended lens to substitute this two lenses? of course affordable as well.

any advantage or disadvantage on choosing one over the other lens??

Please help me on this decision making NIKON sifus.
