It’s out in the open now – in MalaysiaToday, Malaysiakini, and Malaysian Insider, this is the content of the email that has been circulating and the string of sms-es inside:

Did Najib Tun Razak interfered in the Altantuya case and tried to help his friend Razak Baginda escape the gallows? Read the article and sms-es inside and YOU decide.

The following text message correspondence is between YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, and Dato’ Shafee Abdullah, a Malaysian lawyer who initially represented Abdul Razak Abdullah Baginda who is on trial for abeting the murder of Mongolian national, Altantuya Shaariibuu.

While it does not answer lingering questions about Najib’s alleged past relations with Altantuya, the text messages show clearly Najib’s active intereference in the case very early on.

The messages highlight Najib’s willingness to speak with both members of the Attorney General’s Chambers and Inspector General of Police about the case, something that suggests an abuse of executive power.

What is particularly revealing and troubling is that the counsel, Shafee, keeps asking Najib for details indicating some political intervention that may have influenced the case.

This observation is strengthened by Najib’s message to Shafee on 16 November 2006: “Pls do not say anything to the press today. i will explain later. RB will have to face a tentative charge but all is not lost.”

This message raises a lot of questions about Najib’s role in this case. Why did he mention “tentative” charge and that “all is not lost” for RB (Razak Baginda)? How would Najib know this before Razak was charged? Is there already a deal in place that will see Razak aquitted? These are important questions which will have ramifications not just on this case but far beyond.

The text messages were transmitted between Najib’s personal mobile phone (+6012 2143177) and Shafee’s mobile phone (+6012 3257052).

Those who seek the truth should challenge Najib and Shafee to deny that this correspondence took place between them. Perhaps a record of the messages still resides in the server of the relevant telecommunications company.

The truth is buried somewhere. Those who know what truly happened hope that the truth has been buried deep with Altantuya. But the funny thing is, the truth always finds its way into the hands of those who fight for justice – sometimes in the most mysterious circumstances.

Dato Seri, I was at ghkl ccu 4th floor.RB was admitted due to lung infection:mild pneumonia and asthmatic.This was the pain he was suffering in the chest and unexplained coughing for months.He is under an able physician Dato Dr Jeyaindran Sinnadurai(head of Dept of Medicine)Its good he is resting there than in the lockup.Dna was done to eliminate that he was at scene of crime(paternity can be ruled out as well).Need to see Dato Seri on some concerns. It is clear that the Police will ask for extention t’row.I will resist strongly in view of the fact that the last few days investigation on RB have completed investigations that require RB’s presence in custody.Secondly, from yesterday the Police has done nothing much with him except to do the dna.Thirdly, I am concerned with the Police carelessness yesterday in allowing the 3 other suspects to be freely mixing and therefore tainting their subsequent stmnts as they could be ‘group coached’.But it also show Police no longer need to isolate the suspects.Even RB was handcuffed to the C/I. Baru-baru ini saya telah dihampiri oleh seorang individu untuk membeli sebuah peralatan, yang mana ia juga dimiliki oleh kerajaan. Alat buatan Israel ini digunakan untuk pengintipan serta mengumpul data.

Teknologi ini juga telah digunapakai sebelum pilihanraya untuk membantu dalam perang siber.

Beberapa orang pegawai kerajaan telah berjumpa dengan saya dengan menyatakan bahawa SPRM, Unit Khas, SKMM dan Pejabat Perdana Menteri turut menggunakan peralatan ini. Bila ia berkaitan dengan keselamatan negara, saya berpendapat ia adalah sesuatu yang sangat berharga. Namun, peralatan ini tidak patut diseleweng oleh mana mana pihak untuk kepentingan sendiri.

Saya tahu ia digunapakai oleh kerajaan dahulu, tetapi tidak sepatutnya berlaku di zaman Malaysia Baru - tiada tempat untuk pengamalan sebegini kini.

Adalah sangat tidak baik apabila ada pegawai yang telah menyampaikan pesan bahawa saya dan Ayahanda saya, DYMM Sultan Johor sedang diperhatikan. Ramai juga "cybertroopers" diletakkan pada halaman JDT serta laman peribadi kami seperti Official Sultan Ibrahim dan HRH Crown Prince of Johor atas perasaan kurang senang oleh beberapa pihak atasan.

Ya, saya memang vokal tetapi ianya lahir dari rasa kasih sayang dan tanggungjawab saya kepada negeri Johor serta rakyatnya.

Saya tidak akan berdiam diri jika ada beberapa parti yang ingin mengambil kesempatan memecahbelahkan perpaduan Bangsa Johor yang unik ini.

Biar saya jelaskan sekali lagi bahawa saya tidak mempunyai apa-apa masalah dengan kerajaan. Johor sentiasa menyokong penuh kerajaan yang memerintah. Dengan itu, kami akan menyokong segala keputusan yang betul. Namun kami juga tidak akan berdiam diri apabila berlaku keputusan yang salah.

Akhir kata, satu-satunya perkara yang rakyat mahukan adalah kerajaan mengutamakan kemajuan, bukannya bertelagah di dalam negara. Saya berdoa semoga kerajaan menepati janji janji kepada rakyat. Allah Peliharakan Sultan.

I was recently approached by an individual to purchase a device, which the government also has in its possession. This device is Israeli-made and is used to spy on people and gather intel.

This technology was also used pre-election help in terms of cyber warfare.

A few government officials came to me saying that the MACC, Special Branch, MCMC, and the Prime Minister's Office have been using it. When it comes to National Security, I think it is something we need, but these same devices should not be used by individuals for personal gain.

I know the former government used this, but this is supposed to be Malaysia Baru – it is no place for such practices any longer.

It is not nice when officials come to me saying that my father, the Sultan of Johor, and I are being monitored. And that there are cybertroopers planted on JDT and our personal pages such as the Official Sultan Ibrahim and HRH Crown Prince of Johor page, waiting in case there is something that does not go down well with certain higher ups.

Yes, I am vocal and that it simply because I care for Johor and its people.
I will not stand still if there are certain parties trying to take advantage of the people of Johor or break this unique unity we have.

Let me be clear, I have nothing against the goverment. Johor has always had the policy of supporting the rulling government. That said, we will give our support when the right things are done. Yet we will not be silent when wrongs are being committed.

Last but not least, the only thing people want to see is the government prioritising progress, not having squabbles within the country. I pray that the government can fulfill its promises to the people. Allah Peliharakan Sultan.
