Car Got Hit. What to do next?

Car driven by bf was hit from the back.
Bumper spolit.
D*ckhead driver refused to pay, challenged us to report to police and just drove off.

Would like to get some advice what to do next as we have never in this situation before.
Need to report to police for insurance claim?

Update:
For the benefits of some readers who want to know what we did, here's the chronology of event:

1. car got hit from the back. the other driver just cabut after refusing to pay. but managed to take pics of the number plate and the car.

2. went to police station to report the accident straight away. Described what happened in the report, retold the story to the assigned investigation officer, send the car to balai photographer for him to take pic, got a copy of certified police report, paid some amount for that report (can't remember how much). all these were done within 3 hours.

3. drove the car to car company customer service. they advised to use own insurance claims as police investigation result will take a long time. NCD/ NCP will be affected. i don't really understand this NCD thingy. leave it to BF to handle...lol.

4. sent car for insurance claim assessment and inspection. that took a day. then they took about 2 weeks to finalise report. called me and bf for details too.

5. last week, company car customer service called to ask us to bring the car. they will sent it to workshop for repair. It's been a week since we sent it. hopefully tomorrow the car will be ready and can take back.

i started working abt 5 years ago and now wish to buy a house.
take home salary is abt RM2000-2500.
i dont know much abt buying a property but do try to do some readings

would like to ask for advice from sifu sifu here...
based on my take home salary, which area in klang valley is afforable?
i plan to get a landed house, rent it out for awhile, then i move in.

i often check iproperty, a bit sad to see landed houses are really expensive
really think i cant afford one

pls help. thanks
