iPOD touch wifi help

Hi,

I'm not sure if this has been asked or not, but i'd like some advice on my problem.
Got an iPOD touch recently and trying to connect to wifi......i've found lot of networks in various places and its not locked but somehow i cant surf web or go online, youtube or whatever.

I need some help on how to get it going.....
i have yet to register my iPOD fyi....(not sure if it really affects).
