PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Razak's defence team argued that the prosecution failed to produce any evidence showing that the former prime minister had ever visited AmIslamic Bank to support four charges of abusing his position for gratification.

Najib's lawyer, Wan Azwan Aiman Wan Fakhruddin, told the High Court that the alleged offences were said to have taken place at the AmIslamic Bank Bhd branch on Jalan Raja Chulan.

He said the prosecution not only failed to prove that Najib had ever set foot in the bank, but also did not show that the former finance minister had exercised any influence there.

Wan Azwan said no witnesses were called to testify on the matter.

He made the submission when arguing why presiding judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah should acquit the former Pekan member of parliament in the trial involving 25 charges linked to the misappropriation of RM2.3 billion in 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) funds.

"Where is the evidence showing that Najib was ever at AmIslamic Bank to misuse his position in a way that could justify a conviction?

"The defence's objection to the charges is not that they lack dates, times or descriptions of the offence, but because each charge specifies multiple dates and locations, and lists several alleged wrongful acts.

"This, in fact, constitutes a multiple or duplicative charge, something that courts in this country have clearly held to be invalid and incurable," he said.

The lawyer also argued that the charges against Najib were defective, contained hidden duplications, and were allowed to proceed despite being vague and misleading.

He said that since there was no evidence showing Najib had ever been at the bank branch, the court should carefully review the charges to determine whether the prosecution had proven its case.

At this stage, the defence is urging the court to re-examine the four abuse of position charges brought under Section 23(1) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act.

He said while the defence agreed that a charge must specify the time, place and nature of the alleged offence, any charge containing multiple dates, locations and acts of misconduct should not be filed or maintained.

Citing the first charge as an example, Wan Azwan questioned how five dates, five actions, four locations and three official capacities could be merged into a single charge without being deemed duplicative.

He further submitted that there had been a miscarriage of justice when Sequerah ruled, at the close of the prosecution's case, that the charges were not overlapping or repetitive.

He contended that the decision was premature and hasty, as it was made before the court heard the defence's case.

The lawyer said Sequerah had invoked Section 422 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which allows defects in charges to be cured, and subsequently ruled that no prejudice had arisen.

"It is the court's legal duty to consider all evidence before determining whether the prosecution has proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.

"Failure to revisit this issue would confirm that the earlier decision was made prematurely, which by itself constitutes a miscarriage of justice," he added.

Najib faces four charges of misappropriating RM2.3 billion in 1MDB funds and 21 charges of money laundering.

The trial continues tomorrow.

Anwar: No nation is safe when racial hatred thrives

CYBERJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on Malaysians to reject attempts to incite racial hatred and not be swayed by those exploiting sensitive issues to divide national unity.

Speaking at a town hall during the launch of Multimedia University's (MMU) Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Engineering (FAIE), he reminded the audience that Malaysians must rise above destructive tendencies.

"Remember, we are anak Malaysia who should love our country.

"We must put an end to this destructive culture of corruption and racism, of inciting racial hatred, constant quarrelling, provoking and insulting religion or race.

"This is not education. Education should lead us towards good and transformation," he said.

He added that the country must be safeguarded against such elements, including bullying and abuse.

Anwar said that Malaysia is a nation of laws with a firm legal system, and that violations would be dealt with regardless of a person's status or background.

"This is a nation of laws with rules that must be respected. The National Unity Ministry exists because, to me, political stability is essential.

"This country must also learn from others. Nowhere in the world has racial or religious hatred ever brought safety or stability," he said at the Temu Anwar programme.

He was responding to a student's question on government efforts to strengthen unity and combat racism.

"No country can remain safe if voices of racial or religious hatred are allowed to flourish. We must be firm in ensuring no one fans such divisions," he said.

The prime minister also praised the maturity of today's youth in prioritising unity.

"My outlook is very hopeful when I see young people today being positive and mature in their views on unity. But we must also recognise there are still groups trying to incite and distort facts," he added.

Citing the death of student Zara Qairina Mahathir, Anwar again stressed that the government has never concealed facts or protected anyone.

"If it involves murder or bullying, I don't care whose child it is — if a crime has been committed, we will investigate and prosecute," he said.

Also present at the launch were Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

MMU's new FAIE will feature state-of-the-art laboratories to foster creativity and collaboration between students, researchers and industry partners, ensuring graduates remain competitive in the digital economy.

The faculty will introduce a new Bachelor of Science (Hons) (Applied AI) programme, a three-year full-time course beginning in July 2025.

Existing engineering programmes will also be enhanced with AI components to equip students with advanced technological skills. Applied AI covers technologies such as machine learning and automation to address real-world challenges, including smart healthcare, autonomous vehicles, intelligent farming and personalised digital assistants.

Brain drain: Doctors quit for better pay abroad

KUALA LUMPUR: Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said 12 medical officers had resigned to work abroad in 2024, representing 3.1 per cent of the 386 total resignations recorded for the year.

The minister said the main reason for the migration of doctors is competitive salaries in advanced countries, driven by stronger foreign exchange rates against the ringgit.

The outflow of skilled medical professionals is a long-standing issue in Malaysia's public health system.

Like many developing nations, Malaysia has struggled to retain talent due to factors like high-pressure working conditions.

This shortage of professionals has led to a reliance on contract staff and an increased workload on existing personnel.

Dzulkefly said the talent migration issue is not new and is also happening in other developing nations.

He was responding to Muhammad Fawwaz Mohamad Jan, the member of parliament for Permatang Pauh, regarding the ministry's actions to address the problem of young doctors moving abroad because of work pressure and an unfair contract system.

The minister said the Health Ministry cannot prevent medical officers from seeking employment in the private sector or overseas.

He added that efforts are being made to retain doctors, including the appointment of 13,552 contract medical officers to permanent positions since 2023.

Dzulkefly said the ministry is making an average of over 4,000 permanent appointments annually in cooperation with central agencies.

He added that medical officers under grade UD9 receive a competitive starting salary of RM5,380, the highest among public service schemes, with an annual increment of RM225.

Other incentives include a locum allowance of RM80 per hour, an on-call duty allowance ranging from RM80 to RM220 per night, and an elective surgery allowance of RM80 per hour.

The minister also said there are career advancement opportunities through time-based promotions from grade UD9 to grade UD14 within 12 years and opportunities for lateral entry into grade UD10 for contract medical officers who are made permanent.

Dzulkefly said the ministry has also expanded training opportunities, with 600 slots annually under the ministry-sponsored "Parallel Pathway" specialist training programme across 14 specialties starting in 2025, a significant increase from just 52 slots in 2022.

KUALA LUMPUR: A member of parliament has called on the government to address the poor conditions of detention centres and prisons, as it compromises the health and welfare of inmates.

While debating the 2023 Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) report in the Dewan Rakyat today, Teresa Kok (PH–Seputeh) said inadequate infrastructure also placed an undue burden on enforcement officers responsible for managing detainees.

"I was deeply disheartened to learn that, to this day, six prisons are still using the bucket system.

"The continued reliance on such an outdated sanitation method poses serious health risks to both inmates and prison staff," she said.

Kok said that the report also highlighted extremely dilapidated and unsafe conditions at the police lockups in Miri and Papar.

"Overcrowding in prisons and detention centres further contributes to the spread of health issues such as scabies, tuberculosis, and other infectious diseases.

"This problem arises from the increasing number of criminal cases, both at the police investigation stage and during court proceedings," she said.

She urged the Home Ministry to take Suhakam's recommendation seriously and allocate sufficient funds to ensure hygiene supplies were consistently provided to inmates.

"The commission found that the majority of detainees in immigration detention depots are not consistently given basic hygiene items such as soap, toothpaste, and toothbrushes.

"Instead, these items are only available if purchased using money provided by family members during visits," she said.

Kok also questioned why the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) continues to be denied access to immigration depots for the purpose of verifying individuals' refugee status.

"Among the reasons cited were concerns over the release of refugees with criminal records, the use of counterfeit refugee cards, and the UNHCR's role in managing refugees in Malaysia.

"I therefore urge the Immigration Department to grant UNHCR access to immigration depots to properly carry out status verification and determination processes.

"This is essential to ensure that those who are recognised refugees or asylum seekers are not arbitrarily detained by the authorities," she said.

PM: Consensus, strong institutional support key to reform success

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed the government's commitment to reforms, but said meaningful change cannot be achieved overnight without consensus and strong institutional backing.

Responding to criticisms over the pace of reform, Anwar said efforts must be grounded in political reality, particularly in a coalition government that does not command a simple majority.

"I'm doing the best I can, but we have to move with wisdom.

"Some people are impatient, but if you push too fast, you risk being thrown out tomorrow.

"Do we have the resources? The necessary support? Can we convince the ruling and professional elites that this mission is one shared by all?

"Where do we start? Can we carry out massive reform in one, two, or even three years? I don't know, but what I do know is that there's no turning back

"What matters is that we keep moving forward, month by month, year by year," he said in his keynote address at the launch of the Centre of Excellence for Research and Innovation in Islamic Economies (i-RISE) here today.

Anwar's remarks came days after PKR backbencher Wong Chen said he would take a two-week break to reflect on his political future.

The Subang MP had also voiced concern that the government could reach the end of its term with little to show in terms of institutional reforms.

Anwar, who is also finance minister, said reform is a collective effort that requires broad support, and urged critics not to ignore the complex realities of coalition politics.

"For those who are impatient and want things done quickly, they are often blind to the facts.

"Keadilan (PKR) holds 31 seats in parliament.

"Pakatan Harapan as a whole has 82.

"That's not even a simple majority.

"We are working in a coalition, and we are fortunate that Umno and Barisan Nasional have become one of the key pillars supporting the reform agenda.

"But nothing can be taken for granted. Negotiation, discussion, and engagement are essential."

He said that achieving consensus with coalition partners such as Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is critical for implementing key policies, and stressed that while the pace may vary, the direction remains clear.

"I say all these things because they are relevant. If we don't secure consensus with key partners, including GPS and GRS, then how do we support programmes like this?" he said.

65pct of degree holders in Malaysia earn below RM3k, study finds

KUALA LUMPUR: Over 65 per cent of degree holders in Malaysia earn less than RM3,000 a month, a figure sufficient only to cover basic necessities, with little room to save, invest, or move up the socioeconomic ladder.

In addition, more than 70 per cent of graduates are forced to work in semi-skilled or unskilled sectors.

These findings were presented in a study titled The 'Gaji Cukup Makan' Economy: When Higher Education Becomes an Economic Risk, conducted under the Malaysia Labour Market Insight Series.

Its author, Dr Mohd Yusof Saari, said the report revealed a deep structural crisis between higher education and employment, with tertiary education no longer guaranteeing wages that match qualifications and skill levels.

"This reveals the true state of graduate employability, which is often reported to be above 80 per cent.

"But the report highlights that these figures can be misleading, as they include all forms of employment without accounting for skill mismatches or wage levels.

"The reality is that 65 per cent of degree holders in this country earn a monthly salary of under RM3,000," he said in a statement today.

He also pointed to the widespread mismatch between academic qualifications and employment as a sign of declining returns on investment in higher education.

He said that although skill mismatch is not unique to Malaysia, and occurs even in developed countries, the situation is more pronounced here due to persistently low salaries.

"This offers no protection to those working in jobs that do not match their qualifications.

"In Malaysia, the mismatch leads to deeper economic vulnerability, limits upward mobility, and reduces the incentive to pursue higher education - especially among lower-income groups," he said.

Consequently, pursuing higher education is becoming increasingly risky from an economic standpoint, particularly for young people who must bear the rising cost of education without the assurance of commensurate salaries.

He said the growing disconnect between qualifications, job quality and career rewards is challenging the traditional belief that education guarantees better social mobility.

"The report identifies several key causes of this crisis, including sluggish wage growth, weaknesses in pre-employment preparation, and low demand for skilled labour from the private sector.

"These factors have resulted in a stagnant wage trajectory, where the income gap between graduates and non-graduates is minimal - especially during the early stages of their careers."

The author called for structural reforms, including the replacement of misleading employability indicators with measures that reflect actual skill matching.

Other proposals include the development of a long-term graduate outcome tracking system, the restructuring of industrial training and pre-employment pathways, the modernisation of industries, and the redesign of jobs to address deeply rooted structural issues.

"The government must also introduce wage guidelines as an advisory tool to address wage suppression.

"The report proposes a holistic policy framework that integrates education planning, labour market demand and wage outcomes - moving beyond fragmented policies towards a coherent, national, outcome-based strategy."

He added that the report provides a macro perspective on structural challenges in Malaysia's graduate labour market, offering a comprehensive diagnosis of wage stagnation, skills mismatch, and inefficiencies in the education-to-employment pathway.

In addition to identifying critical policy gaps, the report also called for further research to transform these findings into targeted, high-impact reforms.

"Such follow-up is crucial in designing appropriate policy interventions, tailored to the realities faced by graduates across various sectors, demographics and education tracks.

"When graduate salaries are barely distinguishable from those of non-graduates, investing in higher education is no longer a guaranteed path to social mobility, it has become an economic risk," he said.

The Gaji Cukup Makan report was developed by the Centre for Future Labour Market Research (EU-Era) under Future Studies Berhad (The Future).

The Future is dedicated to leading the transformation of Malaysia's economy and labour market through evidence-based research, aimed at informing policymakers, industry players and the public on the implications of this ongoing transformation.

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Razak's gruelling seven-year corruption trial over the misappropriation of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) funds has exacted a heavy toll on all involved—including the court.

This was evident when presiding judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah, visibly frustrated as the defence failed to propose alternative dates to replace several vacated trial days.

Najib's lead counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah at the outset of today's trial said he was unable to propose alternative dates as he had numerous other cases to attend to.

The senior lawyer said he had attempted to accommodate several dates but was unable to do so as his schedule was packed, and other courts were unwilling to postpone their respective hearings.

This led to an exchange of words between the lawyer and the judge, with Shafee defending his packed schedule while Sequerah pressed for greater cooperation to expedite the trial.

Sequerah: But this trial has dragged on for too long... There must be light at the end of the tunnel. We're approaching seven years now.

Shafee: Yes... but that's due to the nature of this case. You've never seen anything like it before, whether in practice or on the bench.

Sequerah: The trial keeps prolonging.

Shafee: But not at the expense of my health.

Sequerah: No, of course. But just secure more trial dates.

Shafee: Trust me, we've tried. But my schedule is packed.

Sequerah: All I'm asking for is cooperation from all parties. I'm not asking for the impossible.

Shafee: We'd like to at least close the case before I take my yearly break—but it all depends on the circumstances.

After the morning break, all parties proceeded into Sequerah's chambers to finalise the trial dates.

Najib faces four charges of using his position to obtain RM2.3 billion in bribes from 1MDB funds and 21 charges of money laundering involving the same amount.

Allowances for MPs can go up to RM40,000 per month, PMO explains

KUALA LUMPUR: A member of Parliament (MP) is entitled to a fixed allowance of RM25,700 monthly, as well as other allowances and claims depending on their eligibility, according to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

In a statement today, the PMO clarified the matter following allegations by certain parties, including the opposition MPs, that their monthly income is so low to the extent of having to go into debt to live their lives.

According to the statement, the allowances and claims that the MPs are entitled to for official duties in the country are as follows:

Parliamentary session allowance: RM400 per day

(Public Accounts Committee (PAC)/Select Committee) meeting allowance: RM300 per day (outside Parliamentary sessions)

PAC member meeting allowance: RM250 per day (during Parliamentary sessions)

Official briefing allowance: RM300 per day

Daily living allowance: RM100 per day (paid based on attendance in Parliament or official trip exceeding 32km from their residence)

Travel claims: For self-driving, public or land transport

Accommodation claims: Hotel, lodging and laundry service

For official duties overseas, the allowances and claims that the MPs are entitled to are:

Meal allowance: RM340 per night

Daily living allowance: RM170 per day

Accommodation claim: Hotel and laundry service

Transportation expenses claim: Land and air transport

Currency exchange losses claim

25 per cent tip allowance based on meal allowance

"When combined, the total income of an MP can reach RM30,000 to RM40,000 per month like previously said by the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim)," the statement read.

It said the prime minister also advised all MPs to manage their finances wisely and to always prioritise the interests of the people, particularly low-income groups who are in much greater need of assistance.

Yesterday, Anwar rapped the opposition MPs for exploiting the issue to gain public attention, with some even claiming that they were financially burdened and in debt, despite earning up to RM40,000 per month.

He also stressed that allocations for all parliamentary constituencies, including those held by the opposition, were still channelled to the people regardless of political affiliation.

Singapore warns 'Kopi Penumbuk' contains erectile dysfunction drug

SINGAPORE: "Kopi Penumbuk", a coffee product from Malaysia has been detected to contain Tadalafil, a potent prescription medicine used to treat erectile dysfunction that should only be administered under medical supervision, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said.

The agency has advised consumers against purchasing or consuming the product, which is marketed on local e-commerce platforms as a coffee product with claims of male sexual enhancement effects.

"SFA has worked with various online e-commerce platforms to remove listings of the product and issued warnings to the respective sellers to refrain from selling the product with immediate effect," it said in a statement on Monday.

SFA said that inappropriate use of Tadalafil is dangerous and can increase the risk of serious adverse effects, including heart attack, stroke, headache, migraine, irregular heart rate, and priapism.

It can also pose serious risks to certain individuals, including those with heart-related problems.

"They can cause potentially life-threatening low blood pressure in those who are on heart medications, especially those containing nitrates," the agency said.

The sale of unsafe food is not permitted under Section 15 of Singapore's Sale of Food Act.

If found guilty, individuals face a fine not exceeding S$5,000 (RM16,503), and in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, a fine not exceeding S$10,000 (RM33,006) or imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months, or both. – BERNAMA

Man found dead with bound neck and legs in Treasury office

KUALA LUMPUR: A 45-year-old man was found dead in a Treasury building office earlier today, police confirmed.

City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said Putrajaya police received a report regarding the incident via the MERS 999 emergency line at 10.56am.

"The report was made by a member of the public who discovered the man lying unconscious in the office.

"Following the alert, a team from the Putrajaya police headquarters was dispatched to the scene," he said in a statement.

Rusdi said initial investigations found the deceased lying on the office floor with his neck and legs bound using cable ties and that no elements of foul play were detected.

As such, he said the case has been classified as a Sudden Death Report (SDR).

He added that the man is a Customs Tribunal Officer.

He added that the victim's body has been sent to the Putrajaya Hospital Forensic and Pathology Department for a post-mortem examination.

The public has been advised not to speculate on the case and those with relevant information should come forward and contact the city police hotline at 03-21159999, the Putrajaya police hotline at 03-88862222, or the nearest police station.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Real Estate and Housing Developers' Association (REHDA) Malaysia today said having a full block or two for Madani housing in projects, instead of a set percentage, will increase free market prices for those illegible for affordable housing.

Rehda president Datuk Ir Ho Hon Sang said state governments already require developers to build affordable housing, with varying requirements across different states.

"In Kuala Lumpur for example, developers need to provide 20 per cent Madani housing for developments above five acres, reaffirmed in the Garis Panduan Perancangan Residensi Madani Kuala Lumpur launched by the Minister of Federal Territories."

"The selling prices of these units range between RM150,000 to RM200,000 and the sizes are set at 700 square feet (sq ft), 750 sq ft and 800 sq ft," he said.

Ho said developers have no choice but to opt using the cross-subsidy method in order to fulfil the affordable housing requirement, essentially raising the price of free market housing to keep the price of affordable housing low, below the cost of construction.

"The suggested requirement, whereby a full block or two need to be made into Madani housing instead of a set percentage, will naturally cause a further increase in the free market prices for those who are not eligible for affordable housing," Ho said.

This includes those in the M40 group whose income is higher than stated in the eligibility criteria for affordable housing.

Besides this, he also said that a more targeted solution to address the issue of affordable housing is needed given the current supply and demand mismatch.

The latest report from the National Property Information Centre (Napic) revealed that 28.6 percent of completed but unsold residential properties in Malaysia for the first quarter of 2024 were priced below RM300,000, underscoring the issue of unsold affordable housing.

"We are committed to provide affordable housing, but the focus should be on the right location, as some areas require more affordable housing units, while some require less due to the weak demand in those areas."

"There should be a more targeted solution rather than a one shoe fits all approach to identifying the needs," he added.

Ho reiterated Rehda's call to establish a national affordable housing trust, where developers would contribute a percentage of their gross development value (GDV) to the fund.

"The committee of the trust – who could be a combination of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), the state authorities and even some Rehda representatives – can observe and analyse which part of the city or state has high demand for affordable housing."

"The affordable houses can be built strategically where the demand is but not a flat quota that is not market-driven and causing some areas to be underprovided and other areas over provided," he said.

Additionally, the association is urging other industry participants to contribute their efforts to help make home ownership more affordable for buyers.

"Other incentives, such as discounts in premium charges, development charges and in Improvement Service Funds (ISFs) will also go a long way to make housing more affordable for the rakyat," Ho said.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that all future housing projects must allocate one or two blocks for affordable Madani units to help lower-income groups own homes.

Uprooted tree crushes student to death

SIK: A Form Five student died after he was crushed by an uprooted tree in Kampung Charuk Sireh.

The victim Muhammad Assif Md Zahid, 17, was on his way to school when the tree fell on him.

Sik police chief Deputy Superintendent Abdull Razak Osman said the victim's mother learnt about the incident after being contacted by her husband at 7.44am.

He said the woman, a civil servant, was travelling from Felda Teloi Timur to her workplace in Sungai Petani.

"Her husband told her to turn back and informed her about the in incident.

"The couple then headed straight to Sik Hospital and was informed that their son has died," he said when contacted.

Razak said police have ruled out any foul play.

Police seek public help in locating missing teenage girl

KUALA LUMPUR: The Petaling Jaya district police received a report regarding a missing teenage girl.

Lin Yu Cheng, 14, was last seen at her home at Dataran Prima Condominium, Jalan PJU 1/42, here on May 25, at around 3:10pm.

She is 155 cm tall, weighs about 42 kg, has light yellowish skin, black hair, a flat nose, black eyes and thin lips.

Police officer's house burgled, suspects flee in Mercedes

KLANG: The house of a police officer was broken into at Taman Sri Andalas here.

South Klang police chief Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong said they received a report from the 36-year-old police officer who is attached to the Shah Alam police headquarters.

"The complainant lodged the report on Wednesday, claiming that at around 3pm, he was told by a neighbor that his house at Jalan Seri Damak 22, Taman Sri Andalas, Klang, was broken into.

"The complainant went home to check and found that some of his belongings were missing," he said in a statement today.

He said checks revealed the complainant left his house at around 7am to go to work.

"As soon as he got home, he found that the front grill had been pried open and the house was ransacked.

"He claims that three hand bags, one wallet, a mobile phone and RM100 cash was missing," he said, adding that all the items were estimated to be worth RM5,000.

Cha said CCTV footage from the area revealed that at around 2.20pm, the suspects had come to the house in a white Mercedes Benz C300 car with the number plate QT1200 which is believed to be fake.

"Both suspects alighted from the vehicle and gained entry into the house and left shortly after in the same vehicle.

"Police have opened investigations into the case under Section 457 of the Penal Code for house break-in and are now tracing the identities and whereabouts of both suspects," he said.

He urged anyone who has information on the case to contact the South Klang police at 03-3376 2222.

KUALA LUMPUR: A delivery rider has revealed difficulties in his work, having to deal with lewd messages from customers while on the job.

In a series of photos, TikTok by user @mifzz57 shared several "disturbing" screenshots of customers offering different modes of "payment" for their food delivery.

He said delivery riders faced such trials and expressed his frustration with these experiences, captioning the post with "What a fate."

In one of the screenshots, a customer allegedly offered to invite a delivery rider into their house, saying that they were staying alone at home.

In the comment section, netizens expressed shock over the situation, with some offering support.

User @Dong Chai said: "This is why I stopped working in the middle of the night."

@Nabilla Nur said it was heartbreaking to see riders facing such challenges.

"It's sad that even finding honest work is difficult for riders," she said.

Another user, @whosche, prayed for the delivery rider's health and safety.

"May the man continue to be healthy while seeking a livelihood. (May he be) protected from any calamities and always be under Allah's care."
