Error Sending End of Post Message to ME (Dell)

Im sorry if I post this on the wrong section.
Im currently facing this problem:

My Dell Inspiron N4010, windows 7-64bit home premium, will boot up and stall with a prompt in the upper left part of the screen for close to a minute, and then show "Error sending End Of Post message to ME". It will then proceed to boot correctly, but then I have problems with shutting it down. When I shut it down, it won't shut down completely. When I try and restart it instead, it will get to the same point and not turn off completely, nor will it restart. The problem is that it seems to be working as it's doing this and begins to overheat. I can hold the start button down for 4 seconds and it will turn off(forced shut down).

I know I can google up, and I have tried. I dont understand the computing language at all. In fact, I dont understand a thing even when I manage to get to the right website.

If you happen to know what is happening to my laptop, please summarize the step I need to take to solve the problem. Or provide me with the suggestions on what to do such as system restore, reformat windows and so forth. For your information, Im just a normal accounting student with no computing background.
Therefore, I only use my laptop for simple functions such as running certain common softwares, going online and downloading files. There is nothing complicated I did to my laptop earlier. The problem when my laptop doesnt boot and shut down as it used to do started on October 22, 2012(3 days ago) in which Im certain that I did nothing strange to the laptop, because I was extremely busy for my studies during that period. But before that which was at the beginning of October, my laptop happened to boot with a loud 'beep' sound (I cant remember whether there was any black screen providing 3 option, if yes, I must have chosen 'restart windows normally'), then when the windows ran, the time and date were reset to 2010(I guess that was the date the laptop was manufactured). This problem happened a multiple of times later. But it was relatively easy solved because all I did was changing the date and time to 2012. Then things 'seemed' to be solved. I am not sure whether this incident is related to the ''Error Sending End of Post Message to ME (Dell)'' but that is the moment when I started to detect the telltale sign of the error happening today.

Im in need of help so desperately. Im away from home, without car at the moment and unfamiliar with the places around.
I hope I atleast get an idea of what is happening before sending my laptop for repair. I have not much knowledge on laptop.
I had much experience on sending my laptop for repair and ended up the person asking me what should he do to help me.
All I know is that, I do not back up files, and do not understand the side effects of system restore.....
So, I wish to know something before I got shocked again being told to reformat the laptop.
I do not anticipate the person to reformat my laptop just because I cannot answer why my laptop is happening this way and that formatting solves most problem.

I hope someone by any chance see this post will make a reply. Please leave however little information you know, it will be extremely useful for me.
Again, please answer them in a simpler manner. I wont be able to understand many specific terms as I found from google.

(If it happens to be a repeated post, please do not remove the post right away. Kindly redirect me to the main post by providing me with the link or something. I am not familiar with this forum yet)

A thousand thanks for your help.
