CAR LOAN

According to Kia Salesman last week, he submitted my documents for car loan to 3 different banks:

- Hong Leong > OK but need guarantor
- Maybank > OK but need guarantor
- Ambank > OK no need guarantor but Ambank will need to do a site visit first to verify the existence of the company that I work for

So, my questions:
1) The loan is RM131K loan / 9 year and my net salary is RM7K, my only responsibility at this moment only for house rental which is RM700/mth and I don't have any other loan except CIMB credit card. But why I do still need to provide a guarantor?
2) How can I verify whether Hong Leong and Maybank really need a guarantor? Can I call them directly? The Salesman desperately want me to apply the loan only with Ambank. Do they get higher commission with Ambank?
3) Is it true Ambank now go for site visit to do some checking?
4) My preference goes to CIMB, can I apply a car loan directly from CIMB instead?

How to Filter String

Hi fella,

This is for my own use. After spent almost 3 days still can't find any solution and almost giving up.

I have .txt file with some random data like below :

blalalalalallalala....
name:test1
blalallalaladkadjaskdjaldjsalkdjsalkdjaskld
ipaddr:192.168.1.1
name:test2
jhasdjksahdjsahdjksadha
ipaddr:172.20.1.1

I don't have any problem to view the file using Flexgrid, richtextbox or whatsoever. The problem is how can I filter the whole file, grab, cut unwanted string and view only the string that I want :

name:test1
name:test2
or
ipaddr:192.168.1.1
ipaddr:172.20.1.1

Once I managed to filter or remove unncessary strings from the .txt file, I will going to view it via Listbox, flexgrid or listbox.

Hope someone here can give me an idea..

P2V Linux -> ESX 3.5

Hi there,

I indeed need some advice & opinion from you all.

Scenario :
Recently I have been assigned to do Linux P2V for SUSE & REDHAT OS. Since Vmware only support P2V for Microsoft Network services using their converter tool, I'm planning to do:

1) Fresh installation, then rsync between the Physical & Virtual server. Or
2) Create NEW Virtual Machine in ESX, run it with live-cd, create partition exactly the same with Physical server, copy everything to Virtual Machine then reconfigure bootloader (Customer Advice).

Current Environment:
Redhat - SAMBA, DHCP, Cache
SUSE - Mail Server

Questions:
1) Which one is the best method to do the P2V(not pure P2V) with minimum downtime, troubleshooting?
2) Is there any other method you all can suggest for Linux P2V?
3) Any opinion on which area I need to take care, concern during the process such as network speed during rsync, kernel panic & etc?

P/S : I did researched everything regarding Linux P2V before.

Linux kernel SMP - Dual processor

I'll perform new SLES10 SMP installation on 2x IBM System-X Servers by next month. So, this is the case. The server itself suppose to be dual processor. Unfortunately, I hav to install SLES10 with single processor first because of some political issue on my client site.

My question :
- is it OK to add the second processor later on?
- any issue after that? such as hang or SLES10 might have difficulty to detect another processor?

Additional :
Both production servers will perform as a cluster for groupwise. As per advised by NOVELL, it's OK to perform installation with single processor subject the kernel must be with SMP support. But yes! I feel doubt about it...

Sendmail Problem!

My sendmail server having a problem to receive mail from lowyat.net with error code as below :
"reject=451 4.1.8 Domain of sender address [B]new-topic@bounces.lowyat.net does not resolve"[/B]

The weird thing is, I can receive some email from mail2.lowyat.net.

I dig both domain & found bounces.lowyat.net do not have an authority entries as mail2.lowyat.net.

Clustering - Heartbeat

I'm building another linux distro but this time only for cluster purposes(iFolder).

Ingredients :
2x nodes + Linux OS running on vmware
Heartbeat 2.0.8 linux-ha.org

- Heartbeat Installation on both nodes looks OK. No dependencies problem.
- Running heartbeat with same configuration on both nodes, but without any cluster resources - OK!
- Both nodes can heartbeat each others.

My question is, what d next step I need to take to create cluster resources? Example cluster resource for apache or NFS file sharing. BTW, Documentation from heartbeat a bit confusing for newbie like me. Some doc ask to create cib.xml while others refer to ha.cf.

Really appreciate if some can give me some hints / url

DNS Master & Slave

I did a testing on feature "allow-notify" / "notify yes" on my /etc/named.conf file (primary & secondary server). But every time I did some changes on master zone file with serial no. increased, It's failed to notify my slave server.

FYI, I'm using :
DNS : BIND 9 &
Primary : redhat
Secondary : SuSE

Steps taken after changed master zone file :
$ rndc reload zone
$ rndc status - no error

My Question are:
- do we need a special command to notify slave?
- do we need a additional applications to notify slave?
- or what a proper steps I should take to notify slave server after I did some changes on master zone file?

I'm kinda new with Bind & really appreciate if you all can guide me.

Superstack 3com Switch Problem

Problem details
First occurence of problem: Last month
Problem frequency: Every month & now every weeks
Problem description:

Network down, all users attach to the switch can't have network connection (LAN / WAN). After reboot the switch within 12-18 hours, switch hav a problem again.

I try cascade connection to another switch but the problem stil happen. Changed to another single switch butsame spec also same....

any idea? Help plz

nvm, problem solved.

Problem caused by port 15 & 33. During switch down/unpingable, both port (15 & 33) LED still blinking while others not. Temporary solution, disconnect both connections & switch's up now..

Xterm terminal customization

Hi,

Currently, I'm creating a distro for my customer & it's based on slax. Everything now working as per their request including act as linux router, quota support, Postfix mailserver, webserver, openssh, vsftpd, slim, light & easy to use. But I'm having a problem on xterm terminal.

Before user login into xfce4 desktop manager, In the console state "root@noGuiX:~#". But, after login into desktop manager, xterm use "bash-3.1#" instead "root@noGuiX:~#". How can I change it from "bash-3.1#" to "root@noGuiX:~#". or "user@noGuiX:~#".

I did google, yahoo, linux tips & trick everyday. Unfortunately, till now I can't find any solution yet.

Anyone of you got any information, opinion bout this company? Mind to share with me? Currently, I'm working at HP as Unix Engineer which we all know less tecnical and relaxing. Zen offer me good salary, training & benefit but I need some information before I make any decission.

Webserver Apache & Monkey

Hi all,

As per attachment, I try to host different domain on different webserver for testing purposes (noob) :

1) Webserver1 - Apache - domain1.com --> /etc/hosts ---> Slax
2) Webserver2 - Monkey - domain2.com --> /etc/hosts ---> DSL Linux

- Both domain/website can be view internally/LAN w/out prob.
- Externally, out site visitors can view domain1(webserver1 - apache) w/out prob.

Problem
- When out site visitors try to view my domain2(webserver2 - Monkey), they will go to domain1/website1(webserver1 - Apache)

Could someone guide me how to make it's working separately(domain1 & domain2). Is it bcoz of "iptables" or anything?....
