UPDATE: Sorry peeps! After another attempt at reformatting and clean install of Windows, it seems that the problem is actually with my monitor not my motherboard. Sorry, pretty clueless about these IT-related stuff hence sorry for not providing enough info!

Case closed.. gonna look into getting a new monitor maybe. Thanks by the way!

PILN 2014 JPA Scholarship

Hi peeps.

I've been waiting PILN 2014 news from JPA since last year, hoping to apply this year just in time to fly to Australia in July to further my studies. In the mean time, I've been applying for various scholarships throughout this year and it seems like this is my last available option to study overseas.. and it's already May.

According to this statement, PILN supposed to commence in 2014, for non-bursary holders who completed SPM in 2011 and performed well in pre-university/foundation/etc. Unfortunately I completed SPM in 2012 and completed AUSMAT last November. Do you think I am eligible for this, if it does commence this year? (Logically, it should be available for SPM 2012 leavers too right..? :S)

So does anyone have news regarding this? From other forums, various students in my position have called JPA and most of the officers have no idea at all, some insist to continue waiting, while some just shove them away stating that they only have program khas for engineering students (Korea, Japan, Germany, France) which is currently going on, and NO OTHER scholarships available overseas. Can't wait sudah lah! they better live up to their word!

Bachelor of Business (Marketing)

Hi. I'm interested in doing a degree in business, major in marketing. I'm a 2012 SPM Leaver. After thoroughly discussing with my parents, checking out colleges and unis, I have shortlisted down to 2 left, Sunway and Taylor's.

If I'm going to Taylor's, I'm gonna do foundation in business. As for Sunway, it's gonna be foundation in arts. Environment-wise, I prefer Taylor's, and both the prices are quite similar so my parents are fine with either and left me to decide the rest.

The thing is, what I'm looking at is the quality of the cert. Sunway offers business degree programmes under Victoria University (VU) as well as Sunway business programmes validated by Lancaster University. Taylor's business degree is dual awarded by Taylor's themselves as well as University of the West of England (UWE). After much research, I have come to conclude that VU isn't as good compared to other prestigious unis, while Lancaster is very well-known without doubt. Thing is, transportation is siding sunway, so I'm wondering if it's worth the trouble to study at Taylor's even though I prefer it more. I have done lots of research but couldn't find much about UWE. I have only come across a comparison between University of Bristol, and UWE and it seems UWE was a polytechnic uni prior to 1992 and then they started to introduce academic programmes.

So, UWE, VU, or Lancaster? Sorry, I'm just trying to think ahead and do not want to make a mistake.. :/

[WTA] Multimedia Design or Business Course

Hello. I've just sat for my SPM this year and I'm terrified of 2013, because at this time I've still yet to make up my mind and decide what course I want to take.

I have down listed all the courses available based on my interests, and I'm down to 2.
Multimedia Design and Business (Marketing).

First and foremost, I am a science stream student and I regret heading science stream. I only did so because I had no idea what I wanna do for my future, and still am confused. These 2 courses are art-based. Correct me if I'm wrong, so basically I studied science subjects for no particular reason. ;/ I also took up Accounts as an extra sub. Thought of being the hardworking student. I did do well in Accounts, but I just have no interest there though my parents desire me to be an Accountant for the $$$.

My interest in multimedia design is because I spend almost 5 hours or more on the computer every single day ever since I was seven. I like watching people draw 3D animations, and I like digital abstract art. I play a lot of games, so I do spend a lot of time browsing through fan art. I've always wanted to learn how to draw and portrait images in various colors like that on the computer. I fancy making signatures/siggies on game forums. I've also spent time photoshop-ing and re-coloring pixel art for games. I own a blog, so I change and edit my website with different themes once in awhile. Ok, basically I like digital art. The thing is, I do not have talent in drawing art. I always did bad in art class, and I can't draw nicely like other people and always envied them. Sometimes I could get a B+ or an A- in art classes with the help of 'highlighting' and 'outlining' with a black marker though -.-.

As for business, marketing just intrigues me. It's sort of the non-risky course to take as it is safe, and business in general offers a lot of job opportunities. I've used to dream to be a marketing manager. What I'm afraid is that would this course be boring?

I just can't decide between the two, through continuous evaluation and listening to people's opinions, I'm always 50-50 on these 2 courses and I can't decide.

My interest in multimedia design is a lot, but what I'm afraid is what if I can't perform well? Since my artistic talent is very low, how would I know I would do well in art that got to do with the multimedia? I don't want to waste money on a course I cannot do well in, which would result in a change in course and waste of money. My aunt did say 'You go to the college, and that's where you learn and find out.'

Are there no other ways to take a 'peek' into what I can learn in multimedia design, what they do for a living and stuff like that? I'm pretty sure about business, but I just don't know whether to take the risk. I did my research by going to fairs, but have yet to talk to college consultants. I will do that next week.

Please share your opinion and help me out..
If you studied multimedia design, or business. Could you tell me about what you learn, and what is the career path ahead as to what you do in your every day life?
