Please help! Motherboard for Pentium 4

I am so confusing.. i asked computer shop around my place, they said mboard with g41 chipset does not support pentium 4 and they suggest mboard with g31 chipset!

I asked again somewhere, tell me the same! So, i bought a mboard with intel g31 chipset (msi g31tm-p31) for my old processor Pentium 4 3.06GHz 533MHz fsb. Now everything is in on desk and ready to assemble..

I checked from asrock & msi website.. their mboard with intel g41 chipset (with DDR3) can support pentium 4 as listed on their CPU support list page!
but pentium 4 is not in the list for both msi and asrock with g31 chipset!

Also i check, from asus website.. their mboard with intel g41 e.g. asus g41tm-m lx also listed some pentium 4 cpu's on their CPU support page!

I ask a friend.. he said, normally pentium 4 is supported by G31's and not by G41's. when i opening this thread, my system (pentium 4 with msi g31 motherboard) is already assembled! only not ready to gamble and switch it on..

So, what i need to do.. just swith it on to see either its working or what??
