PSA: Unauthorized Credit Card transaction

Recently i was just doing a periodic check on my credit card transactions and identified one transaction which i don't recognize. The amount was RM98 to bootcampmind.com. No sms notification received for this transaction.

Website also look very sus, looks like a front for scamming.

So, immediately i contacted my bank to report the unauthorized transaction and cancel the card. Now need to wait for new card to be issued and need to update whatever autodebit i had before.
In terms of credit card info stored by merchants, so far i saved the credit card info with Steam, Shopee, TnG. Boost, Grab.

So just a reminder to everyone, do check your credit card transactions from time to time, even before the monthly statement is issued.

The recorded message goes something like this (Male voice):

"Hello, panggilan dari Pos Malaysia. Anda ada dokumen penting yang tidak dituntut. Hari ini dokumen akan dipulangkan ke .....(can't make out the word). Untuk bercakap dengan pegawai perkhidmatan pelanggan kami, sila tekan 9. Terima kasih".

Sounds very fishy. Anyone else got the call?

HDD not detected

Hi all,

I was playing a game and when I reached the autosave point, I received an error saying game unable to save.
After exiting the game, I found that the HDD where Steam is installed went missing.
I decided to turn off my PC, try to check the HDD connections and try restarting PC.

Found out that my HDD is not turning on at all. Seems like it died during my gaming session. Is my HDD truly dead? (It's a 9 years old HDD by the way)
Any how to repair and retrieve the data? Can't do much on my side since HDD is not powering up.

Sleep instead of shut down

Hi all,

I got a weird issue on my desktop PC.
Sometimes if I leave it on overnight, when I want to shut down (via shutdown option in windows start button) my PC instead of shutting down it will sleep instead.

So in order to properly shutdown my pc, I will choose restart instead and after windows reloads I can shutdown like normal; which is a slight annoyance.

Issue only occurs if I leave my pc on overnight/long hours. So far I haven't figure out what is the exact number of hours before this problem triggers. General usage over a few hours this problem doesn't occur.

Any idea what is wrong? Running Windows 10 on SSD. CPU is Intel i5 6600, mobo is Gigabyte H170 Gaming 3.

Update 9 Dec 2016: Issue does not occur anymore after I disabled Hibernate via Admin Commmand Prompt : powercfg -h off.

Delivery of Vacant Possession

First time house buyer here, I received a letter from my developer on delivery of vacant possession. Based on SPA i suppose to get the keys last June 2015.

Date of VP is 8 January 2016.( I only received letter a week later, 14 Jan 2016 I think?)

Stated in the letter is to bring along the following within 21 days.

1. Bank draft/cash for amount XXX from purchaser (me).
2. Bank draft/cash for amount YYYYY due from financier
3. Identity cards.

Also mentioned in the letter, if i should for whatsoever reason fail to comply with the above requirement, i shall be seemed to have taken delivery of the said property upon expiration of the aforesaid period and thereafter, developer shall not be held liable for any loss or damage to the said property and/or the fixture and fittings therein.

I called developer on the matter, they mentioned still waiting for my financier to release payment (item 2), once done they will call me up to bring cash (item 1) and IC to collect keys.
Now it's already 28 January 2016, called them again said payment still not released, maybe can collect after Chinese New Year.

Kindly advise what should I do.
21 days generally is calendar days or working days?
Still can claim for late delivery after this 21 days?
Such a letter is standard or something fishy?

Audigy 2 ZS vs Mobo built in

I have an old (about 10 years old I think) PCI SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS soundcard which is till working fine. Just wondering does it make sense to plug it into current motherboards. Specifically Gigabyte H170 Gaming 3. Is the built-in sound better? I'm assuming it is.
