WTA - minor renovation

Hi all - well here it goes - we have a town house and its about 20 years old. We live on the upper level. After much consideration and discussion (also small budget) we are thinking of doing the following things:

1. Existing grass area to be cemented
2. Relocate Main door
3. Relocate room doors and store
4. Plaster ceiling
5. Remove existing sliding door and grill (at the balcony)
6. Build a dry wall partition in room
7. Remove existing wall between kitchen and balcony
8. Wiring - plug points, light points, fan points, unifi, astro and network ports
9. cabinets in kitchen and bedroom
10. Roof Checking

For pictures/floor plan of the house, please refer to :

https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2942557&hl=

Location : Shah Alam Seksyen U9

Do let me know roughly how much the above will cost.

Thanks!!!

Reno Fully furnished Town House

Hi all,

Sometime next year we will be planning to renovate our town house. We live on the upper floor and the house consist of 2 and half floors. The house is fully furnished with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

1. What is the best way to renovate the house and at the same time make sure my furniture and stuffs are in GOOD condition? Do i rent another empty house and dump all my stuff there? Cost involve will be , rent and moving the stuff.. then moving the stuff back. That sounds like not a good idea.

Types of reno are , First floor, we will want to put plaster ceiling and down lights. There is a room and a store room on this floor. Im planning to make the room smaller and remove the store. So hacking will be done there. THis is to extend the HALL area. We might be removing the sliding door from the balcony area.

the 2nd floor ( half floor ) is the dining area , bathroom and kitchen. Here we will want to extend the kitchen, breaking the wall that is in between the washing area and the actual kitchen so we have a longer kitchen. Dining area will have plaster ceiling.

3rd floor has 2 rooms. Master with a toilet and another room. Im planning to remove the door of the master bedroom. Extend the master bedroom as the floor from the 2nd floor to the ceiling is very high, i can put another floor. So that's the reason why we want to extend. Ceiling the master and 2nd room will need new ceiling as the current one is quite old. The 2nd room will have an extension too because of the space. Might do some wall hacking to make into 2 rooms instead of one.

So there you have it - I have no idea what the cost is like though...

I need to know what will be the best way to keep all the furniture and stuff.

Thanks everyone !!!

I will start sharing some pics of how the house looks like. thanks again...

Car insurance claim - Trailer accident

Hello all,

Today my GL kena bang by a car lorry transportation- the lorry was transporting KIA's car. The fault was lorry's clearly as my mom could not move the car at all. It was a traffic light. Police statement has been given ( waiting for investigation outcome statement ). Gone to nissan service center to get assistance.

Little did i know, for any commercial cars - you can't claim their insurance to fix your car. You would have to be liable for the damage even if it is not your fault. Sales person at nissan, advised that there are 2 ways to fix the car. One is of course to use my own insurance, the ncd will go back to 0% next year. The other one is to pay first then claim from 3rd party. When claiming from 3rd party, it doesn't mean that i will get the whole amount that i paid for because the claim depends on the 3rd party company and not bounded to any contract. So what the system is telling is that, if i didnt do anything and a trailer comes by and knock into my car - i would have to bear the cost... is this rite guys??

So i called etiqa and ask them if there are any ways. One way mentioned is to use my own insurance then submit together with proof that it was not my fault ( police statement ). By doing this, i can keep my ncd at 55%. Is this right?

My GL so kesian now, but it has happened. I just need it fixed. cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

Replacement from Dell

FEEDBACKS NEEDED!!!!!!!! THANKS IN ADVANCE

Hi All,

I would like to get feedbacks from those who has had replacement computers from DELL in the year 2010. I have a studio 1458 and had reported an issue ( HEAT ISSUE ). They had sent a tech out to fix the issue but he caused more problems ( now the computer can't even turn on). Tech's second visit also didn't fix the issue cause of wrong part. Now Dell has granted a new replacement unit for me but after going through reviews and forums, i find my self in the middle ( to go for replacement or to refund ).

The studio, cost me 3349 and the new replacement unit ( XPS 14 one of the latest XPS model, quotation given ) cost 3064 ( price obtained from Dell website). Which means that i will lose RM200. Is this normal for a replacement? I know it was stated in the email that Dell will replace something equivalent or better and the dell XPS 14 is the correct replacement except that it cost much cheaper than what I've paid for.

Has anyone gone through the same scenario? What happen? Is refund the best option.

one more thing i would like to add, if let say i ask Dell to upgrade, to dell XPS 15 ( price will still be the same just the size and a sub woofer ) can this happen? I need to know from those who got replacement from DELL before.

Thanks all and Happy new year!
