I bet you guys have seen Ashley Khoo in large billboards in and around Klang Valley for the past couple of months. She's just getting ubiquitous. She's been featured as the Ambassador for the Yes, I Can campaign. Great, albeit pretty personal stuffs revealed in her writing.

"Being There" photo exhibition in Pelita Hati

Hi all,

Just found out there'll be a photo exhibition titled "Being There" in Pelita Hati Gallery, Bangsar.

The exhibition runs from 15th June to 30th June. It will be in support of the World Hepatitis Day. As part of this Malaysia campaign, there'll be free hepatitis screening made available to the public, amongst many other events.

A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the prints will be channeled to the World Hepatitis Day fund. It's for a good charitable cause.

The official launch of the exhibition is on this Sunday 19th June at 4pm.

Yes, I Can RM 10,000 Challenge

Hello everyone,

I would like to share about a contest currently ongoing (deadline Dec 15, 2010) offering a prize of RM10,000. All you need to do is come up with a proposal on the usage of contraception in prevention of unplanned pregnancy. This Yes, I Can campaign came at the right time, in view of the rising cases of baby dumping and abandoned babies.

The Yes, I Can campaign calls for the empowerment of women in making the right informed choices about their sexual health and the contraceptive methods available. It advocates the usage of contraception in preventing unplanned/unwanted pregnancy.

This is both an educational and creative approach, capitalising on the power of the internet to help spread the good news. I suppose we all could do our part right? Come up with a great proposal (check out the Terms and conditions in there), make a video of yourself and your concepts/ideas..whatever it is that you can think of. Let's not be shy. In addition to being able to stand a chance to win RM 10,000, you also get to learn a lot of the different contraception methods available.

I know this is a sensitive topic, esp when it comes to sexual awareness and education but hey, don't you think it's about time we have a decent sex education in Malaysia. I'm sure everyone will have something to say or criticise. but as they do, the world moves on. You might also want to make an online pledge in the website...hopefully we could gather enough "voice" to get the NGOs up to speed to doing something good.

The contest calls for either an individual or group submission.

Hopefully this thread created could be used to discuss this. Any interested parties who would like to collaborate, do let me know.
