Break-in gang busted with arrest of three family members

KUALA BERANG: The police have solved seven housebreaking cases in the Hulu Terengganu district with the arrests of a family of three, who are suspected members of the “Fahmi Gang”.

Hulu Terengganu district police chief DSP Mohd Adli Mat Daud said all the suspects were nabbed in two separate raids in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur and Kampung Temala in Marang on Saturday (June 4) and Sunday (June 5).

He said two of the suspects who were husband and wife were detained at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur after they had just closed a deal on the sale of jewellery with an agent there.

"The married couple, aged 38 and 28 respectively, managed car wash and beauty salon businesses.

"The 28-year-old main suspect who was detained at his house in Kampung Temala is the younger brother of the woman suspect,” DSP Mohd Adli told a press conference at the Hulu Terengganu district police headquarters Monday (June 6).

He said following the arrest, the police seized jewellery, mobile phones and cash. All the seizures are estimated to be worth RM100,000.

He said checks found that the main suspect had three priors for drug related offences and had just been released from prison last January.

The suspects have been remanded for four days from Saturday to assist in police investigations into the cases. - Bernama

today i factory reset my old phone, motorola C plus ....
after i do factory reset n download those google play update ....
then suddenly i cannot enter back to the "setting" again....
the word "setting keep stopping, closed app" pop up ...
i reboot the phone many time n uninstall those update but still cannot go to the setting ....
what happened to my phone ? and how can i solved this problem ? ... thanks....

on wed i go to maybank to check bank balance that time not feeling very well, blur blur key in 3 time wrong pin number ...
so just now i check again, i think maybank already block the card, they ask my go to the nearest maybank to ask ...
so the problem is, this is not my maybank atm card but is my brother card n he already migrate ..
the atm he give to me to pay some expense for him in malaysia like syabas, cukai tanah, cukai pintu ....
so what are the procedure to get back the card ?? .......thanks..

1MDB probe to wrap up by year end

KUALA LUMPUR: Investigations into the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal are expected to wrap up by year end.

Those with knowledge of the multipronged investigation said the remaining 40 per cent of the probe involved information and evidence in no fewer than five countries.

This part of the investigation has seen officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the federal police’s Commercial Crime Investigation Department liaising with their counterparts in the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation, Luxembourg, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the Middle East and Singapore.

Investigators, sources said, were working to find evidence to build a case.

“This includes illicit transactions carried out between 2011 and 2014.

“This is not a Hollywood movie. It is a complex probe and the investigators are determined to build a strong case and cover all areas.

Seorang daripada pelanggan yang ditemui menyatakan rasa terkejut sebaik mengetahui perkara itu kerana dia difahamkan bahawa SST hanya dikenakan kepada pihak pengilang dan bukan peniaga.

"Saya difahamkan SST dikenakan kepada pihak pengilang dan tidak menjangkakan menu di kedai makanan juga akan dikenakan cukai.

"Kami sekeluarga bersarapan pagi di sini sempena cuti sekolah dan harga yang dikenakan berbeza ketika kadar Cukai Barangan dan Perkhidmatan (GST) pada kadar kosong peratus," katanya.

The Sales and Services Tax, or better known as the SST will take effect in Malaysia starting 1st September 2018. This replaces the current Goods and Services Tax which was zero-rated since June 2018.

So what happens to mobile prepaid services in Malaysia? We’ve checked with the local telcos and basically, you’ll get slightly less credit for all reloads or top ups effective 1st September 2018. In short, a RM10 top up will only give you RM9.43 of credit. To cushion the blow, most telcos are throwing a little bit of extra freebies for every new top up.

Before 1st September, if you top up RM10, you’ll get RM10 of credit. This will change starting tomorrow as all prepaid reloads are subject to 6% deduction. If you’re wondering why RM0.57 was deducted instead of RM0.60 for a RM10 top up, it’s because the reload is inclusive of both credit and 6% SST (6% of RM9.43 is RM0.57).

'Under Najib, many became thieves': PM Dr Mahathir

ALOR STAR: Your days are numbered.

This was the message delivered by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today to those from the previous administration who had broken the law with impunity.

Dr Mahathir said that there was so much rot in the government, brought on by his predecessor and one-time protégé Datuk Seri Najib Razak, that everyone under him “became a thief.”

“When Najib became a thief, everyone under him became a thief.

“Government officers made RM200,000 a month. Where did (the money) come from? It was all stolen money.

“(And) some government officers were given RM300 million for projects – but pocketed RM100 million.

“Those who (committed these crimes) will have their comeuppance. Malaysia has its laws,” said the Bersatu chairman at the Jelajah Malaysia Baru event here.

Also in attendance was Deputy Prime Minister and outgoing PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail; Defence Minister and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu; and Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.

"Najib stole money and gave to people (so often) that it was almost like (regular) income for them. They could go for free haj and they didn’t even have to (work for it).

"People ask us if we will still give them money. Yes, we could – if you allow us to steal," said Dr Mahathir, in an allusion to his desire to discontinue the BR1M programme.

A news portal had earlier quoted the prime minister as saying that 7.2 million BR1M recipients are in for a shocker, as Putrajaya plans to slowly reduce the payouts before ending them altogether.

The portal also quoted Dr Mahathir as blaming the Najib administration for "spoiling" the people; and that the rakyat should stop depending on the government and believing that they are entitled to money without doing any work.

According to the portal, Dr Mahathir said that the Malaysian government wants to create more jobs, businesses and educational opportunities.

Among other things, loans would be given to those keen on going into entrepreneurship or business, he said.

"During my visit to China, I found that we can learn much from them. They were once upon a time more backward than us, but now they are leading. Some, like Jack Ma, can make billions in a day.

"But what is important to the government is not just the (general) economy, but the people’s economy. We want to raise the income of Malaysians so that they can get rich, and we as a nation can become rich by taxing them.

"If people are poor, the government also becomes poor, because we would need to come up with measures to raise their livelihoods," he said, in an apparent dig at Najib’s administration which reported high Gross Domestic Product figures amidst skyrocketing costs of goods. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd

The Buddha Speaks the Ullambana Sutra

Thus I have heard, at one time, the Buddha dwelt at Shravasti in the Garden of the Benefactor of Orphans and the Solitary. Mahamaudgalyayana had just obtained the six penetrations and wished to cross over his father and mother to repay their kindness for raising him. Thus, using his Way Eye, he regarded the world and saw that his deceased mother had been born among the hungry ghosts. Having neither food nor drink, she was but skin and bones.

Mahamaudgalyayana felt deep pity and sadness, filled a bowl with food, and went to provide for his mother. She got the bowl, screened it with her left hand, and with her right hand made a fist of food. But before it entered her mouth, it turned into burning coals which could not be eaten. Mahamaudgalyayana called out and wept sorrowfully, and hastened to return to the Buddha to set forth all of this.

The Buddha said, "Your mother's offenses are deep and firmly rooted. You alone do not have enough power. Although your filial sounds move heaven and earth, the heaven spirits, the earth spirits, twisted demons, and those outside the way, Brahmans, and the Four Heavenly King Gods are also without sufficient strength. The awesome spiritual power of the assembled Sangha of the ten directions is necessary for liberation to be attained. I shall now speak a Dharma of rescue which causes all those in difficulty to leave worry and suffering, and to eradicate obstacles from offenses.

"The Buddha told Maudgalyayana, "The fifteenth day of the seventh month is the Pravarana Day for the assembled Sangha of the ten directions. For the sake of fathers and mothers of seven generations past, as well as for fathers and mothers of the present who are in distress, you should prepare an offering of clean basins full of hundreds of flavors and the five fruits, and other offerings of incense, oil, lamps, candles, beds, and bedding, all the best of the world, to the greatly virtuous assembled Sangha of the ten directions.

"On that day, all the holy assembly, whether in the mountains practicing dhyana samadhi, or obtaining the four fruits of the Way, or walking beneath trees, or using the independence of the six penetrations to teach and transform Sound Hearers and Those Enlightened to Conditions, or provisionally manifesting as Bhikshus when in fact they are Great Bodhisattvas on the Tenth Ground--all complete with pure precepts and ocean-like virtue of the holy Way--should gather in a great assembly and all of like mind receive the Pravarana food.

"If one thus makes offerings to these Pravarana Sanghans, one's present father and mother, parents of seven generations past, as well as the six kinds of close relatives will escape from the three paths of suffering, and at that time attain release. Their clothing and food will spontaneously appear. If the parents are still alive, they will have wealth and blessings for a hundred years. Parents of seven generations past will be born in the heavens. Transformationally born, they will independently enter the celestial flower light, and experience limitless bliss."

At that time the Buddha commanded the assembled Sangha of the ten directions to recite mantras and vows for the sake of the donor's family, for parents of seven generations. After practicing dhyana concentration, the Sangha accepted the food. When they first received the basin, they placed it before the Buddha in the stupa. When the assembled Sangha had finished the mantras and vows they received the food.

At that time the Bhikshu Maudgalyayana and the assembly of Great Bodhisattvas were all extremely delighted and the sorrowful sound of Maudgalyayana's crying ceased. At that time Maudgalyayana's mother obtained liberation from one kalpa of suffering as a hungry ghost. Maudgalyayana addressed the Buddha and said, "This disciple's parents have received the power of the merit and virtue of the Triple Jewel, because of the awesome spiritual power of the assembled Sangha. If in the future the Buddha's disciples practice filiality by offerings up the Ullambana basins, will they be able to cross over their present fathers and mothers as well us those of seven generations past?"

The Buddha replied "Good indeed! I am happy you asked that question. I just wanted to speak about that and now you have also asked about it. Good man, if Bhikshus, Bhikshunis, kings, crown princes, great ministers, great officials, cabinet members, the hundred ministers, and the tens of thousands of citizens wish to practice compassionate filial conduct, for the sake of the parents who bore them, as well as for the sake of fathers and mothers of seven lives past, on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, the day of the Buddha's Delight, the day of the Sangha's Pravarana, they all should place hundreds of flavors of foods in the Ullambana basins, and offer them to the Pravarana Sangha of the ten directions. They should vow to cause the length of their present fathers' and mothers' lives to reach a hundred years without illnesses, without sufferings, afflictions, or worries, and also vow to cause seven generations of fathers and mothers to leave the sufferings of the hungry ghosts, to be born among humans and gods, and to have blessings and bliss without limit."

The Buddha told all the good men and good women, "Those disciples of the Buddha who cultivate filial conduct should in thought after thought, constantly recall their present fathers and mothers when making offerings, as well as the fathers and mothers of seven lives past, and for their sakes perform the offering of the Ullambana basin to the Buddha and the Sangha and thus repay the loving kindness of the parents who raised and nourished them."

At that time the Bhikshu Maudgalyayana and the four-fold assembly of disciples, hearing what the Buddha said, practiced it with delight.

JAKARTA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he expect authorities to arrest former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak soon, over the alleged embezzlement of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) funds. The prime minister, during a two-day official visit here, said the people has been calling for Najib to be brought to court for his alleged role in the scandal and investigators are still working to compile evidence on the case. “Many have been asking why no action has been taken after so long but instead he was given treatment as a former premier.

"I think (it will happen) soon. "(Investigators) Have to ensure (of) Najib, his wife (Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor) or Jho Low's (businessman Low Taek Jho) involvement (in the scandal)... collecting strong evidence so that it will not be countered by Najib's lawyers," he said. He added that at the same time, the government has also been urged to re-open several cases from the previous administration, including the murder of Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu. Over 500 massage parlours offering illicit sex

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 505 massage parlours offering illicit sex had been raided between January and May, said Federal Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd.

He said during the operations at the premises, women from different countries were arrested for prostitution, namely, Thailand (434 people), Vietnam (285), Indonesia (153), China (142) and the Philippines (34).

He said others arrested were from Cambodia (17), Myanmar (11), Laos (eight), Bangladesh (three), and Uganda (three).

Wan Ahmad Najmuddin said the operations were focused on Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Perak.

“Based on the raids, we learned that Thai women contribute to the highest number of arrests. Generally, prostitution and abuse of tourist visa here are still under control,” he said.

He said aggressive approach by the police and the Immigration Department had shown positive results.

“Actions taken in accordance to the Prevention of Crime Act (Poca) 1959, as well as the Anti-trafficking in Persons and Anti-smuggling of Migrants Act (Atipsom) had helped to curb the illegal activity,” he said. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd

As funding dries up, Umno cybertroopers fade away or switch sides

THEY used to earn tens of thousands a month, with some pulling in several million ringgit to slander Pakatan Harapan and trumpet the virtues of Barisan Nasional.

But on May 9‎, the gravy train stopped.‎

Now, the keyboards of the legion of cybertroopers who were on Umno’s payroll are largely untouched, after their political paymasters were thrown out of Putrajaya.

It is learnt that a number of these online activists were paid by the Special Affairs Department (Jasa) under the Prime Minister’s Office. Jasa has since been disbanded by the PH government.

Others were paid by businessmen connected to Najib Razak or other Umno leaders.

With their “masters” on the ropes, some of these armchair warriors are now attempting to cosy up to PH.

“Now, our coordinators have all gone missing. There has been no word from the headquarters since GE14. Some have gone to PH, some (of us), we were just freelancers during the elections,” one Umno online activist, who requested anonymity, told The Malaysian Insight.

“But, there are still some who are being paid by their divisions or branches, or by a senior leader with deep pockets.”

Ever since social media became a powerful medium of information, Umno has aggressively gone out to court an army of cybertroopers.

In 2012, the party formally organised these online activists under its information technology bureau and new media unit. The bureau was headed by Pontian MP Ahmad Maslan. BN deputy strategic communications director Eric See-To also oversaw the social media operatives.

Another big name tied to the online activists was Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, who was on Jasa’s panel of experts.

The cybertroopers' mission was to explain BN’s policies, counter PH's criticism and wage psychological warfare through the internet.

On November 4, Umno’s IT bureau held its biggest rally of cybertroopers at the Putra World Trade Centre, which attracted more than 3,500 people.

Although the party has never acknowledged paying these online activists, it is an open secret that they were amply compensated.

One cybertrooper said they were grouped into informal teams with coordinators who determined the issues or trends they wrote about, which were decided by senior Umno leaders.

The activist said they were paid according to a scale set by the IT bureau.

“Umno cybertroopers have gotten tens, and even hundreds, of thousands,” said former party blogger Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah, also known as Ratu Naga, in an interview with Sinar Harian.

“There are some who received millions. One received RM3 million for a project related to the elections,” said Syarul Ema Rena, who switched to PH in 2014.

The payment depended on each activist’s specialty, with bloggers and website owners paid a different amount than a social media provocateur.

Now that the cash flow has stopped, Umno’s online mercenaries are giving up whatever territory they managed to carve out when the gravy train was going full steam ahead. – June 11, 2018.
