suggest me budget pc for basic purpose

Hi all,

Looking for a budget pc for general day to day work and karaoke purpose only (playing video data of standard quality, nothing full HD 1080p video) preferably under 1k (the lower the better).

Mainly looking to use as standalone karaoke unit only. casing and size is priority. preferably small casing using m-atx mobo since m-itx mobo is so freaking expensive lol. sound card if the mobo on board audio is poor quality

below is some of the component that might work from my research, need your advice sifu!

Intel Dual core 645
Asrock H61M (for the hdmi?)
2 gb ram 1333
DVD rw (slim or not depend on casing)
1TB or 2TB HD wd green preferably
Casing CM 120 advance
PSU?
sound card?
already have the screen/mouse/keyboard/speaker.

appreciate all the help. I know sandy bridge is kinda old news, but i guess for the budget and my purpose, it fits. any suggestion? will be visiting lowyat soon:)

PS I am going to hook-up karaoke amp and speaker to this pc, and connect the video output to an lcd tv, so an hdmi video output would really help.

hi everyone!

after finalizing my choices, here is my future rig gonna be like. please comment
still need some suggestion on casing psu fitting since i am still going back and forth with itx or m-atx build for my htpc rig and some occassionaly gaming (games include sims 3, dota 2 on moderate to high quality)

for m-atx

i3 3220 or i5 3470 or i5 3570
Asus H77M pro or GIGABYTE H77m d3h for m-atx
Asus HD 7750 (rm 299 at c-zone) or Sapphire HD 7750 ultimate (rm 365)
sg 09 or gd05 or gd06
please recommend psu that will fit the casing and meet my needs, im thinking i would need at least 400-500w
hard disk would be 2tb wd green or blue or seagate.
lite-on dvd-rw worth rm60
kingston value ram 4gbx2 or 8gb?

for itx build

i3 3220 as any higher might be too hot for smaller casing?
GIGABYTE H77N-WIFI itx
Asus HD 7750 or Sapphire HD 7750 ultimate (will the casing fit this card?)
bitfenix prodigy or ft03 mini for itx or any of the m-atx casing since they will fit the itx board too right?
hard disk would be 2tb wd green or blue or seagate (the casing will fit this right?
please recommend psu that will fit the casing and meet my needs, im thinking i would need at least 400-500w
lite-on dvd-rw 24x
kingston value ram 4gbx2 or 8gb?

budget rm 2k minimum, can go up a few hundreds if needed (especially on m-itx and ssd). i am tempted to get ssd but do u think it will be necessary?

really appreciate your kind advise. already discarding amd option since i want a discrete GC. appreciate if possible to stay with the above spec option for CPU, GPU and MoBo unless u got a very good reason not to. thanks!
Need suggestion on my new HTPC setup

as of now, after doing some research i have come out with below;

Intel i3 3225 (intel HD4000) or maybe i5 3470
GIGABYTE GA-H77N WiFi itx
MSI HD7750 1GB DDR5 (maybe 2gb variant)
WD Blue 2TB
Gskill 4GB ddr3-1600 (maybe x2)
Interested to get sg09 perhaps, but need suggestion what psu will fit in and wheter i need different cooler or just using the stock cooler.
with discrete graphic added, i really doubt i'd take on amd apu, as i think it wont be enough to just use the igp for my gaming needs.

budget - 1.5k-2k. (i am a bit flexible though, but i do think 2k should be more than enough right?)

definitely need suggestion on the casing, psu, and all the above. (any website where i can browse all the pics of casing? too many choices in the price list lol)

like i said, the main purpose would be HTPC with some moderate gaming. optical out on the Mobo would be an advantage if i ever need to connect to my home theater system. so do the extra hdmi output, since i will be connecting to at least 2 monitor, otherwise i guess i can live with using cable convertor lol

Also, do i need to get discrete sound card if i were to connect it to a karaoke system?

thanks.

need advice on new casual rig

Hi everyone.

My laptop just recently dies. so im currently looking to either buy a new laptop or build a desktop instead and save money.

occasiionaly playing light games like sims 3, cities xl and dota 2, but mostly use it for surfing and watching HD movies and series. would really like a suggestion on good and efficient graphic card (doesnt have to be high end) that have at least 2 hdmi out, since i'll be using one to connect to a lcd tv, and one to a 23 inch monitor for surfing and gaming. also need a mobo with good sound card that can connect to my altec lansing 5.1 speaker. i might be using this pc to set up a karaoke system as well, so a good sound card will come in handy since i will be connecting my pc to the karaoke amplifier. do you think i would be better of with a dedicated sound card instead?

Need pretty much everything you put in the casing, no need for screen, keyboard+mouse, speaker etc.

do you guys think i can get these features within 1.5k? money isnt really a big thing, just dont want to overspend if i can get what i want for cheap:P

ps; I already have a dedicated gaming rig at home. this rig will purely be a substitute to my laptop.

Iphone 4. Maxis vs digi plan (fair comparison)

maxis 24	digi 24	maxis 12 + digi 12
Iphone price 1790 2490	1990
Plan 2400 1392	1896
total 4190 3882	3886
minutes diff** 0 478.8	239.4
total 4190	4360.8	4125.4
promo (MNP) 0 -100 0
total 4190	4260.8	4125.4

*done on Iphone 4 32GB. for 24-month period
** minutes difference is 133 minutes per month, for 24 month, with a charge of RM0.15/min.

just a fair comparison which take into consideration of the minutes difference offered by maxis, and what will digi customer have to pay in order to get the same amount of minutes.

I am not sure about the third scenarios though, hopefully anyone can confirm if we can switch to digi iphone 4 plan without buying iphone 4 from digi.

Any comments is appreciated.
