Macbook Air i7 (2013) or Macbook Air i5 (2016)?

Hi guys,

Im looking at getting a second hand MacBook Air and i currently have two options;

a mid 2013 MacBook Air 13-inch. 1.7GHz Core i7, 4GB RAM, 128GB HD (2nd hand)

or

the latest MacBook Air 13 inch 1.6GHz Core i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB HD for about RM1300 more (brand new in box).

Im mostly going to be using it for typing and researching but i would like to possibly run Civ 6 if the option is available to me. What will the difference in performance be between the two? Is it worth spending more money for the newer machine.??

PLEASE HELP.!!

iPhoto Help

Hi guys; so ive inherited a MBP from someone after my old MBP died on me and i want to figure out how to move (copy/backup/transfer) the photos currently in the MBP before i restore it using Time Machine. Thing is, i know i can just copy it to an ext HD then once ive restored the MBP using Time Machine, just drag the photos back into the restored iPhoto, but im concerned that i may lose the "Events" details. Since the photos go as far back as 2005, i really dont want to go over them and create new Events.

Any ideas as to how i can move the photos into an ext HD whilst keeping the Events breakdown intact..?

Much appreciated.!

My external hard disk fell.... :( (Mac/Apple)

So, my cousin was transferring some files over to her laptop from my external Hard Disk when she decided to move and dragging the Hard Disk off the table and on to the floor..It was a rather sickening sound....

On first inspection, it seems that most of my video files (i use it to keep my "archived" tv series') are fine, plays and transfers just fine..Obviously there were several files that seem to be doomed, not transferring due to "corrupted data"..

So my question is this, i know that some of the files will be affected and are just basically doomed, but is there anyway to find out how badly the Hard Disk has been affected by the fall, in terms of bad sectors and the like...What are the chances that the majority of the Hard Disk will still be usable and how big is the ruined portion...? Will a reformat help with identifying bad sectors and or fixing them..?

And as i have stated in the title, this is a Mac thing..i use a Mac and the Hard Disk is Mac formatted so only Mac based solutions please..

Thanks!

External Drives for Mac & PC

Dear Mac gurus,

2 Problem Situations that i need help with...
1. I currently have an External Hard Disk that has been formatted to be used on my Mac, but i was wondering if there was a way to be able to access the Hard Disk (and its files) on a PC without reformatting, and thus losing all my files on there now....

2. Assuming the above situation is a gone case, if i was to get a new Hard Disk, can that then be formatted to be used by both a Mac and Windows...?

And by use, i dont mean to partition it to the different formats..but actually as one, for the same files to be accessed by the different platforms....

Thanks!

Hey guys..i dont know if this topic will get me in trouble or anything, but im gonna ask it anyway...A long while back, I was watching an un-original DVD in my macbook when it locked up..I had to take it to a service centre, who after taking the guilty DVD out and charging me for it, told me that the macbooks cant play fakes..So my two questions are this..

1) is that true..?

2) if it is, is there anyway i can get around this "security feature" or maybe even just rip the DVD fast and store it into my HD..?

If this is a trouble topic of discussion, then please just delete it and we shall never speak of it again. General things like iCal but most importantly, be able to update the Address Book between the two devices..Ive tried using a Motorola E398 with the iSync, but it didnt work as well as id have liked..

It really doesnt matter if the phone is a new model or old, as long as its cheap im good.

Also, the Apple site (Apple iSync Devices) does list out a whole bunch of devices, but i was wondering if anyone has any specific preferences..Leaning towards the Nokia 6111 for the moment..

Any thoughts.....?

Thanks.
