IDF says it killed Hamas economy minister

The Israel Defense Forces says it killed Hamas’s minister of economy and another senior member of Hamas’s politburo in drone strikes in the Gaza Strip last night.

The military says the first, Jawad Abu Shamala, managed the terror group’s funds, “and earmarked funds for financing and directing terror in and and outside the Gaza Strip.”

The second, Zakariya Abu Moammar, was the head of the terror group’s internal relations, the IDF says.

“He was a senior Hamas decision-maker and coordinator between terror groups in the Gaza Strip.”

The IDF says he was a confidant to Hamas’s Gaza chief, Yahya Sinwar, and part of the terror group’s “senior forum, involved in the organization’s decision-making and the planning of numerous terror activities against the State of Israel.”

Hamas official says group is open to discussions

Oct 9 (Reuters) - A senior Hamas official said the group is open to discussions over a possible truce with Israel, having "achieved its targets."

Moussa Abu Marzouk told Al Jazeera in a phone interview that Hamas was open to "something of that sort" and "all political dialogues" when asked whether the Islamist group is willing to discuss a possible ceasefire.

Study of depression trends (204 countries)

This study aims to estimate the global, regional, and national burden of depressive disorders in 204 countries and territories from 1990 to 2019. All data were obtained from the 2019 Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study. Age-period-cohort (APC) modeling was conducted to disentangle age, period, and birth cohort effects on depression incidence. We compared these estimates across regions classified based on their socio-demographic index (SDI). The Estimated Annual Percentage Change (EAPC) was calculated for each of the 204 countries and territories to identify the top five countries with increased depression incidence (Spain, Mexico, Malaysia, the United States of America, and Uruguay) and the top five countries with decreased depression incidence (Singapore, Estonia, Cuba, Maldives, and Sri Lanka). The results from APC analysis indicate that although depression incidence has decreased globally, the incidence rate in high SDI regions is still increasing, especially in the younger generations. Findings suggest that currently some populations are in need of receiving more psychological support (i.e., individuals born after 1950s in high SDI regions; males in middle SDI regions). Forthcoming studies could corroborate our findings using individual-level data which may guide future prevention and intervention of depression in high-risk populations or regions.

WHILE trawling through comments in response to Zahid Hamidi‘s Nobel fantasy, we came across this local novel with a gem of a title: Suamiku Tak Romantik Tapi Autistik.

Proposed by Facebook user Shanuja Chandran in a suggested reading list to help Zahid gauge the standard of local literature, Farisha Imani‘s breakout hit from 2012 is simply unbelievable. But don’t say that to its reader base on Goodreads — 90% liked the novel.

In Suamiku Tak Romantik Tapi Autistik, Nura Alia falls in love with Syed Azmi, who eventually attempts to rape her. In her revenge against Syed Azmi, she gets the job as a caretaker to Syed Azmi’s autistic brother, Boboy.

Boboy is depicted as “tak cukup seringgit” throughout much of the book, but he saves Alia from being raped by this other guy named Syam. As a result, Boboy is caught in a compromising situation with Alia and they kena tangkap basah.

Alia and Boboy are forced to marry. Eventually, Boboy confesses it was all an act: he pretended to be autistic for the past seven years to the dismay of his poor parents.

A quick read through all twenty-seven of its user reviews reveal highly-positive comments in regards to Farisha Imani’s writing.

Some readers were ecstatic.

He is also good at forging documents to dupe authorities into believing he is either single or divorced.

His current and former wives, however, have got wise to his game and have rallied under a common Facebook account to gather more evidence to drag him to court, Metro Ahad said in a front-page report.

Twenty-four-year-old Naimah Ismail (not her real name) said she was married to the man for just four days before he walked out on her.

She is now seeking a fasakh (annulment of a marriage on valid grounds, such as negligence) from the man.

“I cannot say more as this case will be mentioned in court soon. I hope he can come to the syariah court to settle this,” she said, unsure if she was wife number 10 or 11.

Naemah said she came to know about the man's polygamous nature when a woman, claiming to share her husband, told her he has six other wives not counting at least four others he had divorced.

A woman, who gave her name only as Rajana, said she found out her husband had more than four wives through the social website that was opened by the other disgruntled wives.

“We will be lodging a police report against him so that the authorities can investigate how he could have seven wives at one time and be married 11 times,” said Rajana.

“Asasnya adalah apabila hubungan dengan Allah rosak, maka semuanya akan meruntuh. Teknologi itu tidak salah, tetapi orang yang menyalah gunakan teknologi untuk tujuan terpesong,” katanya.

What's the fastest public transport combination to get to Jalan Kuchai Lama from Subang?
I did some research and so far seems like from Subang -> Kelana Jaya LRT/Asia Jaya LRT -> Sri Petaling LRT -> U71 -> Kuchai Lama seems to be the fastest way. Any better suggestion? Thanks in advance!
