My Flash shmup: The Last Canopy

Hi everyone, long time no see!
It's been a while since I've gone to the last DS meetup (the last one was in Hertz Sunway, I think)
Been really busy making games

I have posted a similar topic at Gamer's Hideout, but I want you guys to know as well,
since I'm part of this community

I have created my very own Flash shmup called The Last Canopy. It was for the Jayis Casual Game Design Competition centered around the theme "upgrade". You start off with lousy firepower, so you have to absorb the enemy's attack and throw it back at them!

If you still haven't tried the game, I encourage you to do so, and play the other entries as well. The link to play is at the end of this post.

And now the competition is open for voting! To assure a genuine vote, you need to donate at least 1 US dollar via Paypal/Credit Card. Votes are counted by number of people, not amount of donation. The proceeds will go to me, in which I'll make cooler and more creative games in the future

The election has just ended, and now a new one begins! Vote for The Last Canopy!

Here's the link (to the game and to the vote button): http://jayisgames.com/cgdc5/?gameID=5

Thanks!

The Last Canopy

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I've been here, being busy and all.

Maybe a few of you would remember me, as I was the creator of Ballistic Wars, a third place entry in the previous Jayis Casual Game Design Competition (CGDC) #4.

And now I've created another game, this time a shmup, called The Last Canopy. It's an entry for the new CGDC5 which focuses on the theme "upgrade". In this game, you control a fairy that has lousy firepower at first, so you absorb attack power from the enemy and give it back to them!

You can play the game here: The Last Canopy

I hope you can tell me your feedback here or via the comment form there, and spread the word about it! Also play the other games there while you're at it.

Thanks for your time. Long live independent gaming!

I've posted this in Gamer's Hideout and Console Couch, but since I announced my game here, I wanna tell you Nintendo LYNers as well

My game, Ballistic Wars has been placed third in the international Jayis Games Casual Game Design Competition #4! I'm also thrilled that the third place belongs to the only Asian entry in the 48 games submitted

To those who have played the game, thank you. To those who voted, super thank you, because the game was also the second most voted entry! I won't stop here, of course. A sponsor is interested in our game, so the game will be developed further into a sequel.
Ballistic Wars: my game design entry

Hi Nintendo LYNettes! Remember me? I just woke up from the dead!

Anyway, I've submitted a game for an international game design competition, and it recently became the finalist for the final judgement and audience voting! I'm especially proud because it's the only Malaysian entry AND the only Asian entry! The rest come from US, UK, Australia and Europe.

I regretted that I didn't post about it earlier here, because the game would feel familiar for Nintendo gamers! I was deeply inspired by Advance Wars and snooker in general. Of course, seeing that the theme of the competition is "ball physics", the game does have its own identity and concept.

Anyway, I've already posted about it in the Console Couch channel, but I was worried that you all didn't take notice. Here's the link:

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/536909

You can also check my personal and company blog. Please try my game, and if you like it, vote for me! Voting ends this Sunday.

It's nice to see everyone again! Hope to catch up with old times, because I just bought a new DS to replace my old lost one

ahbonk
personal: http://www.ahbonk.net
company: http://www.easyonlygames.com

Ballistic Wars: Jayis CGDC4 competition

Hi Lowyat.NET Consolers!

Man I miss this place. Used to hang out here a lot (remember me, Nintendo forumers?), until I got seriously busy like mad

Anyway, I've posted this same exact announcement in Gamer's Hideout, but I would like to extend my reach to console players as well. Any gamer's input is important to me

------------------------------------------------------------------------

You might have heard of this international casual game site before: Jayis Games. Recently they held the Casual Game Design Competition #4 where game designers submit their flash games revolving around the chosen theme: ball physics. Sponsors of this competition include Sierra Online and famous flash game portals like ArcadeTown and Armor Games.

I have submitted my game a few weeks ago. I'm proud to say that my entry is the only Malaysian entry. In fact, it's the only Asian entry haha. The other contenders come from the US, UK, Australia and some parts of Europe. Almost 50 entries in all.

The good news is, my game has been chosen as one of the finalists in the running for the main prizes as well as audience voting! However, to ensure that the audience vote is genuine, you can only vote by donating funds via paypal, in which the money will go to the game creator.

Bottom line, I would like you all to try out my game. It's called Ballistic Wars, a simple strategy game that mixes the theme of war strategy and pool. You can leave comments on the game page itself (68 comments so far! ). Btw, most of the comments were made based on the previous version of the game. The current game in the entry is the polished version.

If you like it (and you have a little money), please vote for my game! Check out the Jayis Games website tomorrow or later today to find out more on how audience voting works.

In advance, thanks for playing!

Jayis Games website (where announcements are made): http://www.jayisgames.com
Ballistic Wars page (to comment on my game): http://jayisgames.com/archives/2007/10/cgd...listic_wars.php

ahbonk
personal: http://www.ahbonk.net
company: http://www.easyonlygames.com

The current game in the entry is the polished version.

If you like it (and you have a little money), please vote for my game! Check out the Jayis Games website tomorrow or later today to find out more on how audience voting works.

In advance, thanks for playing!

Jayis Games website (where announcements are made): http://www.jayisgames.com
Ballistic Wars page (to comment on my game): http://jayisgames.com/archives/2007/10/cgd...listic_wars.php

ahbonk
personal: http://www.ahbonk.net
company: http://www.easyonlygames.com

Mainstream, anyone?

Hey hardcore and mainstream gamers alike!

You know that within the domain of those who can access entertainment, almost everyone watches movies but less than half the planet plays digital games. Why is that? Less focus on mainstream gaming mechanics, that's why!

I have just opened a blog to discuss these issues, though I only have 2 posts up. Here's the link:

minna.no.game

Would appreciate comments from you guys, since you guys range from the incredibly hardcore (you know the exact splash damage caused by a shotgun) to the incredibly mainstream ("urm, at least i play bejewelled!").

Thanx!

ahbonk
personal: http://www.ahbonk.net
game.design: http://www.minnanogame.net

How to burn multiple episodes automatically

Hi people, I need some help in finding the right software.

I only have a CD burner (don't recommend me a DVD burner pls, I've got my reasons ). I find it quite tedious to burn a whole anime season CD by CD, with each CD i have to look for the episode files and click on Burn on each try.

Is there a software where I can specify a list of files IN ORDER, then the software will determine how many files can fit in a CD, then will automatically ask for another CD for the next batch of files?

Thanks in advance.

ahbonk
http://www.ahbonk.net
http://www.if.net.my

Greetings from Kyoto!

Hi everyone...

I've been travelling in Japan for 6 days now... in Kyoto now. I had a chance to go into the Kyoto arcade. I will be going to Tokyo in 5 days time, but I couldn't wait to check out the arcade here first. It was almost closing time, but I had a small chance to take some pics.

Later tonight, I'll try to take more pics.
