Intel finds Sandy Bridge chipset design flaw

A problem requiring a "silicon fix" is bad news in the chipset business, and sadly that's what Intel is announcing. Its new Intel 6 Series chipset, Cougar Point, has been found to have a flaw, something to do with the SATA controller. Intel is indicating that the ports can "degrade over time," leading to poor i/o performance down the road. All shipments have been stopped and a fix has been implemented for new deliveries, but it sounds like recalls will be starting soon for those with this ticking time bomb silicon within. It isn't a critical problem right now, though, so if you own a Sandy Bridge Core i5 or Core i7 system keep computing with confidence while looking for a recall notice, but it is bad news for Intel's bottom line: the company is advising a $300 million hit to revenue.

OMG!!!!

Will this effect those who have already bought sandy bridge laptops? And if it does, does that mean they will be recalled? Will this also affect upcoming laptops like the ASUS N53SN's release date?

Are the major manufacturers going to be producing Sandy Bridge laptops soon? I really need a new laptop with a good GPU but then I heard that Sandy Bridge is going to be released.

Do you think I should wait? The main reason I think I should wait is because Sandy Bridge laptops have great battery life.

Hey... I'm going to be Form 4 next year and I'm going for science stream. I'm seriously freaking out. My memorisation skills are terrible although my Math is pretty good .

Does anyone know of good Mnemonic Techniques used in Sejarah or Bio? I would also like to know memorization techniques that you use.

I need help in finding a good C++ book for beginners. I did my research and found this book, C++ Primer Plus (5th Edition) by Stephen Prata. It looks like a good book but I can't find a book store that sells it. Can anyone tell me of a good book on C++ thats available in major bookshops in Malaysia?

Please give recommendations. I'm 15 so please recommend one thats easy to understand. Thanks.

Laptop that can match Dell XPS 15

Does anyone know of a laptop that can match the Dell XPS 15 in terms of specs and pricing?

I'm thinking about buying it, but after seeing the design, . I don't care about the brand, as long as it matches the XPS 15 in terms of specs and pricing and has a nice design (e.g. the studio xps). Any input is appreciated .

Edit: Must have a decent graphics card. Preferably has a full keyboard (has numpad) and 15.6" screen (nothing bigger than that please).
