etp.pemandu.gov.my mystery

I'm overseas and I started to use opendns and noticed a lot of activity each day to the etp.pemandu.gov.my site despite the fact that no one in my house visits this site and I have secured wifi.

The website looks genuine but a bit of research reveals the following:

1) the cname for etp.pemandu.gov.my is actually 250323682.r.worldcdn.net
2) depending on where in the world you are 250323682.r.worldcdn.net resolves to addresses in small shared hosting data centers.
3) the mail MX record for pemandu.gov.my is some hosted exchange service (mail.global.frontbridge.com). This seems to be very unusual for a gov't agency.

So it would appear that a content delivery network is in use for this website. Why this seemingly unimportant website would need a content delivery network for world-wide reach is a mystery. Especially considering that I'm seeing a lot of yet to be determined activity from computers in my house to this site.

Any ideas?
ethics and real estate agents/brokers

I am selling my house directly without a selling agent. I get buyers agents calling wishing to have their client see my house. In almost all cases the agent has not even bothered to see the outside or inside of my house before booking a viewing with their client. With their client they make it appear as if they have done lots of work to find the property when in fact they simply called me out of the newspaper. The buyers agents are almost always highlighting the good things about my property and I have yet to see them indicate any negative thing about my property to their client. It would seem that these agents are so eager to close a deal and collect some commission that they are only representing their clients interest in the extent that they are making arrangements.

The majority of interest in my property has been through buyers agents so I cannot even conceive of any benefit that having an agent work for me would do since it seems that all the buyer agents are in fact working perhaps more to my interests! What benefit if any could I expect if I were to have a selling agent?

Are the majority of agents out-there representing buyers actually registered? Do they have to pass an ethics exam? Is there a code-of-conduct that agents must follow with respect to how they represent their clients?

how to sell used household stuff

I am moving overseas and wish to sell most of my furniture, appliances, electronics, everything. In other countries, auction houses exist that can come into a house, business and cart everything away and sell all at auctions. They of course collect a commission and therefore have motivation to get the highest price.

Is anyone aware of such business in Malaysia?

Does anyone have any suggestion how to sell lots of stuff (I have about two months left) and get a reasonable price? I have tried Lowyat.net garage sales but unfortunatley the majority of offers are just ridiculous (e.g. RM50 for a refrigerator that is in perfect condition that I bought for >2000 RM!).

Thanks.

reading lists

One of the best books for software developers has been updated. Code Complete2 was just released http://www.cc2e.com and can be found on p2p networks already! The author Steve McConnell suggests the following reading list for software developers. I haven't read a few of the books on this list but the rest are pretty good books and should be part of any developers permanent library.

http://www.construx.com/professionaldev/in...s/sampledev.php

level 10
Code Complete 2, Steve McConnell
Programming Pearls 2nd Edition, Jon Bentley
Applying UML & Patterns 2nd Ed, Craig Larman
Conceptual Blockbusting, James Adams
Software Creativity, Robert Glass
Rapid Development, Steve McConnell
Software Project Survival Guide, Steve McConnell
UML Distilled, Martin Fowler et all

level 11
Writing Solid Code, Steve Maquire
Software Implementation, Michael Marcotty
More Programming Pearls, John Bentley
The Art of Software Testing, Glenford Myers
Mastering the Requirements Process, Robertson and Robertson
Software Requirements, Karl Wiegers
"Manager's Handbook for Software Development", NASA Goddard Space Flight Center
Antipatterns and Patterns in Software Configuration Management, William Brown et all

level 12
Design Patterns, Erich Gamma et all
Object Oriented Software Construction, Bertrand Meyer
Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Grady Booch
Software Architecture in Practice, Bass et all
"Software Measurement Guidebook", NASA Goddard Space Flight Center
