Information Systems Engineering

Hi everyone.

I'm thinking of taking Information Systems Engineering in UTAR. I understand that this course is in the Kampar campus. As I'm based in KL, I really don't know much about small town life.

Anyone is open to reply to this post. You don't have to be a UTARian; anyone will do. I just want info, that's all.

IMO, ISE is not really common. Different websites give different definitions for ISE, so I'm a tad bit worried the course will not turn out to be what I've expected.
But for me, in conclusion, ISE is about having business and IT knowledge, and applying it in the real world. Technically, an ISE graduate will be able to work in both the business and IT field. (please correct me if I'm wrong)

Thus, I would like to know:
1) How are the lecturers and facilities
2) Are there many people taking this course
3) What jobs can I find after graduating
4) Is there really any "engineering" in this course? (I see mostly programming subjects in the course structure)
5) What subjects are most prominent in this course (programming, maths, business???)
6) Range for fresh grad salary
7) Easy to find job
8) Kampar life
9) What to expect from this course

Please share your experiences, knowledge, views and opinions to help me understand more about ISE. Thanks

Computer Science

I'm thinking of going into Computer Science in my degree, probably in UTAR since it costs less than RM 50000 and is only 3 yrs. I'm actually still lost, don't know what course to study. After going through a few reviews on Computer Science in youtube, it seems like there's lots of programming involved, and that with CS degree, you can almost go into any field that you want.

My questions:
What is computer science all about, especially in Malaysia? (Since the vids I've watched are frm US)

What do you actually study in CS (esp in Malaysia)?

Do you use computers often in this course (eg. lectures, assignments, and maybe tests)?

Anyone studying CS in UTAR? How's the lecturers, subjects, assignments, etc...

What jobs can I apply for if I go into CS??

How much is the average salary? (Not that I'm going into CS for money, but I need to at least have some assurance that my future income can provide me food, shelter etc)

Can I get a bright future in CS, especially in Malaysia?

I like computer, I like Maths (probably because I can score Maths in my exams compared to other subs like Bio and Chem), I like puzzles (but not crazy over them), I like to come up with ideas (although most of the time they are lame that others put it aside), and I like to do something with my hands (eg. fiddle with something spoiled, beading, baking, cooking, playing instruments - but I'm not particularly good in any of them, just do such activities during my free time) - Is CS for me? OR should I consider other courses? If so, what other courses I should look into?

I was told that I should look into Graphic Design (designing) as well, but I don't like drawing, or rather I'm bad at drawing.

Pls give me your opinions and views. TQ

MUET - Compulsory?

Is MUET compulsory?? I'm planning to study in foundation UTAR, but my friend, who's currently studying in foundation in UTAR, told me that you have to take the exam separately, cause it's not in the course. Is it really compulsory or if I take the foundation course in UTAR, I'm exempted?? I'm blurr...

here's the link that says need to take MUET's before graduation. Does that mean if I don't take MUET's I can't graduate?? http://www.utar.edu.my/deas/file/noticeMUET2012.pdf
