Family Abuse

Hi there, I'm entirely not sure where this thread would belong to, but please hear me out. If an appropriate forum is available, please move it there.

I have a friend whom I've been best buddies with, but her family has a case of abuse by the father, especially things related to finance. (I'm not too comfortable with disclosing his actions)
She and her family don't want to do anything about it, the mother is afraid of the father's grandparents well-being as they aren't very physically stable - to bring up divorce or anything else would be a shock to them.

I as a friend can't stand it, because my friend has a brilliant mind and only needs money for university.
Is there any way I can seek free legal help on this or report it to someone? Would there be anyone that me and my friend could talk to?

Quake Live server rental

I've been itching to play something fast paced for a while now and took a look at Quake Live.
Apparently there were a few servers in Singapore but they got taken down.
Are there any providers that host Quake Live in Malaysia/Singapore that are up for rental?

As the topic suggests, I need some help in selecting some parts for a friend.
With reference to this guide, I've decided with the following items under RM2000 give or take a few hundred.

I am only looking for main CPU parts, I am not factoring in peripherals like speakers, monitor, mouse etc. Every other part not listed is being recycled from another computer.
He's wanting to get it put together within this week or the next.

My friend's looking for a replacement computer after his notebook's on the verge of death due to various physical damage.
He wants to play current-gen games but also wants a rig that will last him a few years. He's not aiming to play all his games on maxed out graphics, but he won't mind the extra eye candy. In other words, he's looking for 'the most bang for buck' parts.

Unable to only restart computer

My computer is unable to restart. After Windows closes everything off and 'shuts down' the screen turns blank and the monitor goes into power-saving mode. (Indicating that there is no output) It doesn't go into booting up from there.

I've recently reformatted my C drive for a fresh copy of Windows 7 due to the amount of clutter I had prior to it and I wanted to start anew. My previous OS was Windows 7 as well and I've had this problem since then but I can't remember what change I did to cause this problem as I barely restart/shutdown my computer or switch it off for long periods of time.

Computer specs:
Intel Core2 Q9505 @2.83ghz (400FSB with 8.5x ~ 3.4ghz)
4096GB RAM at 800mhz (Running 64bit version of Windows 7)
Gigabyte Nvidia GTX260 (192 stream processors edition)
Motherboard: Gigabyte EP45-UD3L

Is there any other information I should be providing?

I don't really know why I started my own Team Fortress 2 server. Back in early December last year I got fed up of Starhub's 25 second respawn timer. I saw other independant servers too but they had their own rules. I wanted my own server where I could vent off my egocentric pride upon others and somehow be the center of attention. It was a vanilla server that catered to the idea of 'no rules - no bullshit'. I wanted it to be another Agentcy that died a few years ago. I wanted to revive that spirited community that I could talk to after a long day of work/studying. I did a few wrong things however.

The server being named "24/7 Admin Abuse" gave people I gave adminship to the excuse to excessively mess around. This meant constantly annoying players by disrupting the game in a very unfair way - to a point where you can't play properly. I know a lot of people complained about this and I didn't do much about it as the admins were my close friends. After two months of uptime, I think I've learnt my lesson on how to bring back the community that died off two years ago.

Server usage is very expensive. Sure, I've made off with a few donations before - but it's simply not enough for the upkeep of the server. Even if I had paypal/maybank up, people still wouldn't want to donate because of a few reasons.

1)I don't have a credit card.
Maybank cash deposits are anonymous and can be done without any credentials needed.

2)Too much admin abuse.
I'll keep my dogs on a leash.

3)Why should I pay when there are other servers around?
True. Starhub, Eclub, and the dozen other Asian instantrespawn2fort4eva will still be around. But make a request and I will surely consider it for you and the community's entertainment. Even the smallest of donations will keep the server up. If people simply don't like Team Fortress 2 in general - I'll discontinue it and look for people who are willing to contribute to a Crysis 2 server. (SDK and mapping tools, anyone?)

Used to play this back in 2007 on Australian servers. It didn't have good ping compensation even for hitscan weapons like the Source engine does, so 100 ping was hard to play with. But it was fun as hell to play. Best of all, it's FREE TO DOWNLOAD AND PLAY Basically there are two gamemodes:

1) Escort a tank.
Similar to TF2's payload, you help a tank go through various obstacles by destroying barricades and staying close to it. Infantry can get onto the MG as well.

2) Blow up shit.
One team attacks to blow up objectives, one team defends.

And on some maps, both of the objectives are mixed together, giving diversity in gameplay.

I was wondering if people are interested in the game - I was thinking of ditching my TF2 server for this if donations do not go well. People have asked me - why make a server when Starhub, Eclub and a bunch of other servers are already up? Frankly other than instaspawn and the egoistic admin abuse, they don't see a difference and neither do I. Hoped I sparked some interest in some of you in wanting to play this gem of a game.

When we have a considerable amount of people interested, we could try doing a listen server to play the game in all its glory. Then move on to collecting money for a proper server.

The series deals with issues such as transsexuality, gender identity, and the beginning of puberty. Shimura was originally going to write the story about a girl in high school who wants to be a boy, but she realized that a boy who wants to become a girl before entering into puberty would have a lot of worries related to growing up, and changed the story to fit this model. Wandering Son was selected as a recommended work by the awards jury of the tenth Japan Media Arts Festival in 2006. The series has been lauded for its use of gender reversal as the core of the story, though the emotional realism of the young characters has been called into question.

Tl;dr it's an anime that touches on transexuality in minors and I enjoyed the first episode.

In my personal opinion, I think it's just a gimmicky device with a lot of marketing and hype - as with all Razer products.

Cyanogen worth giving up HTC Sense?

So I've done the mandatory rituals of rooting and S-off and I want to delve deeper into other ROMs.
But I've read up that HTC sense and the services such as Facebook/Twitter linking doesn't work on Cyanogen or non HTC Roms.
There are some aftermarket HTC Roms such as Core Cell and Android Revolution but Cyanogen's looks the most promising to me.

If I were to switch over to Cyanogen's ROM, is there any app that has both facebook and twitter in one like the Friend Stream?

Valve released a 100mb update today and apparently our tiny baby local Steam servers are slow on uploading the update to the server.

The most laid back server in Singapore and Malaysia. Alltalk is enabled for shits and giggles accompanied by no respawn timers so that you get back into the action faster! Combined with admins that regularly abuse their own powers to sate their massive pants-on-head retarded egos, the server creates an atmosphere of a great community.

Disregard that, I suck a million penises. Apparently a lot of people didn't like instant spawn as is unfair on certain maps.

Killing Floor server rental?

Hi, I'm looking for a server provider that hosts Killing Floor. It runs on a modified version of the Unreal Engine 2 so I guess any provider that hosts anything related to the UE2, it should work with Killing Floor.
