[WTA/WTB] MSI vs Lenovo for Decent Gaming Laptop?

Hi Guys,

Recently my old PC (R.I.P.) decided to conk out after like five(?) years? I figure it's the HDD but I decided I'll just get a laptop to replace it instead. Reason for getting laptop is that I want the mobility, even though obviously a desktop would make more sense if I intend to use it for gaming.

Lately I've been getting back into games more and been playing stuff like Borderlands 2, Torchlight 2, Dota 2 and want to give more of the newer games out there a try, but couldn't due to my previous PC not being able to take it.

So basically I've been looking at gaming laptops and my budget is around RM3k-3.5k... the lower the better but I don't want to compromise too much on quality. I intend to mainly use it for games and programs like Adobe Ps/AI/Lightroom, movies, music and browsing.

So far recommendations have narrowed down the choices to either Lenovo's IdeaPad Y510P or MSi's GE60-20C.
My knowledge in computers is really crappy so I have no idea which would be the better buy and value for money, so need some help on this...also am really unfamiliar with both brands of laptops ><

Lenovo's IdeaPad Y510P at RM2,999
Intel Core i7 4700MQ (2.4GHz)
Windows 8
NVIDIA GeForce GT750M Graphics 2GB
1TB HDD, 8GB RAM
15.6" HD Anti-Glare LED Display
Super-multi DL DVD Writer
JBL Designed Speakers

OR

MSi's GE60-20C at RM3,099
Intel Core i5-4200M Processor (2.5GHz Turbo Boost up to 3.1 GHz, 3MB cache)
Windows 8
NVIDIA GeForce GT750M 2GB GDDR5
15.6" Full HD Anti-Glare LED backlit (1920x1080)
8GB DDR3 RAM / 750GB HDD (7200rppm)
Super Multi DVDRW
Steelseries Keyboard (non backlight)
Killer Gaming Lan
AW-NB114H Combo (b/g/n) + BT4.0
2 years Warranty with 1st Year International Warranty

(the above taken from their own brochures/product guide given at the recent Digital Lifestyle event at KLCC)

Feedback much appreciated! ^^

Rig for Gaming/Heavy Graphics Use

Hi, I'd like to ask if any of you could help suggest where and what kind of specs i should get for a desktop PC and accessories as well included, in the range of RM2-3k? I'm not too familiar with the kind of prices or the places to go to as I am quite new in KL. The only place I know is Lowyat but there are many shops there as well, I'd like to know which ones are reliable and provide the best prices and service as well. whether I decide to get the rig or not, it would be very nice to know where the best shops to go to are.

I intend to use the rig mainly for heavy graphics editing with multiple programs open as well as the occasional game; I am a somewhat casual gamer and would be inclined to play games like SCII if the fancy takes me so I would need something that might be able to play that. Programs I might use would be Autodesk 3D Max so if the com and give a decent rendering speed it would be an added plus.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

List of recommended shops:
Viewnet @ Lowyat
