To Upgrade or Not To Upgrade

Hi guys, I need some advice.

Recently came across a memory upgrade promotion, 1x4GB at RM100.

I have mainly two questions:
1. Is it a fair price?
2. How much improvement will I get? I mainly do some light gaming, but
I like to minimize stuff and alt tab btw them. Another thing is my performance
monitor shows RAM frequently at about 50-60% utilization when idle.
3. Given the age of my laptop (2 years old), is there a point if
it might just die on me not long after this?

These are my laptop specs:
Model: HP Pavilion DM4
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Video card: ATI HD 5450
Processor: core-i5 520m
RAM: 4GB
Disk Space: 500GB
Warranty: 3 years (Laptop is 2 yrs old so 1 year left)

I've looked around the net, but theres lots of conflicting opinions.
Some people said it helps but some said the improvement will be
so small that its not worth it.

What do you all think?

Notebook Reliability?

will be buying a laptop soon, choices include Acer, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo and Toshiba. I know that Acer is the best value for money specs wise, but the general opinion is that its build quality is low and will usually break down after 2-3 yrs and customer service is bad too. i'm not so clear on the other brands. can anyone enlighten me as to which is the most sturdy and reliable brand?
