mITX spec, looking for ideas

Hey guys,

Thinking of setting up a new Ivy Bridge machine. I already have the following parts:

Core i7 3770K
Intel 520 Series SSD
4 * 2GB Crucial DDR3-1600

Parts that are confirmed for this rig, or on the way:

-Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe
-Bitfenix Prodigy

I was originally looking at a uATX rig but then I saw the Bitfenix Prodigy, so I decided to go mITX. I tentatively have these parts in mind:

-GTX 670 (No interest in OC models for this. Also, any variant that takes advantage of the short PCB to use a short heatsink as well would be a plus).
-Noctua NH-D14 or equivalent
-A modular PSU that fits the Prodigy (if any)

Any recommendations for parts? Or other suggestions?

Basically looking for suggestions on some PC parts for an upcoming rig. Budget is around 4K, slightly flexible.

Requirements:
-No full tower or mid tower cases, going with micro ATX for size reasons
-5 audio channels supported on mobo
-USB3 ports on case from internal USB3 headers on mobo
-Graphics card is good enough to play Metro 2033 in 1920*1200 smoothly, relatively great power consumption for its performance
-CPU cooling is great for overclocks even in a room without air conditioning
-No need for RAM, monitor, speakers, mouse or keyboard (have all these already)
-SSD or another fast hard drive for OS and games
-tax claimable, so everything in a single receipt

This guy is a known Apple fanboy who takes every free time not talking Apple stuff to look for some random anti-Android article and troll people with it in the Android forum. I recommend LYN bans his account from posting in the Android forum. This kind of trolling is not fit for any forum other than Kopitiam.

This chap isn't like the other iOS posters on the Android forum who at least can keep things civil and don't come in spoiling for a fight. At best, banning his posting ability from the Android forum should deter other users from returning fire in the Apple Byte forum.

OEM DRM and motherboards

OK, here's the situation. I just reinstalled Windows 7 Pro x64 OEM on my pc to replace the old trial version of Ultimate. Just after that my mobo starts getting weird issues with my RAM and throws a hissy fit whenever I have 4 sticks installed. I understand that OEM copies of Windows are tied to the motherboard, if I RMA my motherboard and get the same mobo model as a replacement, would it work straight away? Never handled these as I've was using retail xp prior to this.

Windows Phone Event @ Pyramid Complain Thread

Update: The phones were given out yesterday for those who filled in the complaint forms. If anybody who sent in those forms did not receive any calls as to where to get the phone at the discounted price, kindly PM me.

This is for whosoever who went for the first come first serve HTC Touch 2 sale at Sunway Pyramid today.

For the uninformed, HTC and Windows Mobile is having a promotional offer for the HTC Touch2 at Pyramid this weekend, and the first 65 in the queue grabs it.

Here are the specific issues:

1) Blatant lying and stupidity of the organizer

The organizer, Mr. Yap (orange shirt guy there right now) told the early birds last night that he will enforce the following policies:
- The phone is available on a first come first serve basis;
- The phones will be available for purchase at 10 a.m.;
- Interested purchasers are only allowed to queue outside Lagoon entrance, bottom floor in front of a specific automatic door.

The problems:
- No measurement was taken to ensure first come first serve is actually enforced. There was no queue list recorded, interested people had no queue to line up at so they have to bunch around the door, and he tried to justify his lack of queue list along the lines of "I don't believe in queue lists" and "I didn't ask you guys to wait here from last night". The issue is, this is a publicized event the whole weekend at Pyramid, surely a lot of people would know of the offer? That will mean many anticipating the crowd will turn up extra early to ensure they get the phone. The organizer clearly lacks common sense when it comes to this. Because there was zero FCFS enforcement, the crowd became a push and shove contest, and many who waited since Saturday evening could not obtain the phones as they lost their place to latecomers who turned up in the morning.
- The purchase time was at 9 a.m.
- A crowd was formed inside Pyramid itself to jump the early birds at ~7 a.m. The security guards and organizer did not chase them to join the queue until constant shouting and waving from the early crowd to get them to order them out. Even then, they allowed them to wait outside the other automatic door which will allow them to jump past the early birds, until constant complaints forced the guards and organiser to order them to rejoin the initial crowd.

2) Ill-preparedness
- There was no queue nor enforcement of the organizer's pledge of first come first serve, so there was no queue. When there is no queue what guarantees you a place in the first 65? Pushing your way in front.
- The guards did not pull out the front people one by one to enter, rather, just opening a gap so that a random number of people can surge in. You know the result: see the above point.
- When the crowd surged inside Pyramid too quickly for the guards to handle, the guards and cops started pulling out random people to dump at the back of the queue. These included many of those early to wait. Also, this allowed many latecomers who pushed their way through to also become part of the first 65, as some of the early birds also got pulled out to the back of the queue.
- This is not the first day such a problem occurred. There was also a FCFS draw yesterday, and besides the organizer can take points from the "free hard drive with subscription" event at PC Fair.

Why did I start this thread?
The organizer did pass around sheets of paper for aggrieved customers to make their complaints, but he failed to guarantee that the affected early birds will be given the chance to buy their phones at the offer price, or that the complaints will be addressed in future events or read by HTC, Microsoft and/or Pyramid. Because of this lack of guarantee, I intend to gather all affected consumers to an easy source to send their complaints out to Microsoft, HTC and Sunway Pyramid.

Looking for full hd monitor

I'm looking for a 1080p monitor.

My requirements:
I'll be using it for movies and games. So, I want fast response times (means probably no S-PVA monitors) but pretty accurate colours and such.
HDMI/DisplayPort not necessary although that's a plus.
I don't really care about aspect ratio.
Size does not matter although 23-24" is preferred.

It would help if you can list prices/review links or compare it with similar models as to why your recommendation is better.

Hardware for Micro ATX system

A friend of mine's interested in building an AMD based Micro ATX rig. Max budget RM4000. Needs keyboard, mouse, speakers and monitor. He also wants a quad core as well. I don't really know much on what cases and boards to buy for Micro ATX, so I need some input.

Also, for rare stuff that you recommend, please list where to get those parts.

Edit: He'd prefer AMD. If you recommend Phenom 2 dual or triple cores also, make sure the board can unlock cores.
