Is there any active recreational club that is into track & field athletic events especially in sprinting (100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and so on), where people share the know-how in training and have friendly competition among members?

Pacesetters Club used to organized sprinting event but not anymore. They are more focus on their long distance running.

Internship not related to area of studies

Hey guys, i received an internship offer by Accenture and they offered me to do my intern in Technology IT related consultation. The problem is I'm a mechanical engineering student and I'm pretty sure I cant apply what i studied before.

But that is not the major problem because I'm willing to learn and explore in new things. The only obstacle right now is my university. Since I have to prepare a report, presentation also gonna face a visiting lecturer, im not sure how to face all that. Tried finding the industrial training coordinator but shes missing for like few days already.

I will be having a working experience not related to my field. Not sure how this gonna affect my future employment.

Any comments to help me decide?

Internship

Hey guys, the reason of opening this thread is to clear my doubts on this internship programme. Yes, I'm currently searching for companies to do my internship as a Mechanical Engineering student and I went to a couple of interviews for the past two weeks.

My question is why do companies would want to hire us? Is it because they want to train us, hoping that we will return to them in the future or just kind enough to provide us with the real world working experience?

I just came back from an interview with a MNC company which do engineering consultancy services. The interview was quite relaxing but some of the questions gave me a hard time. Before the interview ends, the interviewer told me to tell my friends whoever interested in this M&E field to apply immediately which makes me wonder why they are searching for more interns.

Before this was an oil and gas company. Yes, this 1 is freaking tough. I doubt they simply want to hire as they have multiple stages of interview just to select 1 or 2 students to be their interns.

Next is an optic fibre company in Ipoh which is looking for like 15 to 20 interns per period. The selection process is simple, 1 phone interview for 20mins and you are hired! What do they ask? Introduce yourself, whats your hobby, when can you start and etc(simple questions) and you got the job. What do the interns do? I dont know...paperwork maybe? Its just too easy to enter thats why i doubt i will be learning anything from them. 3 of my friends took the offer but still looking for others.

So whats the purpose guys? Some companies are like a tough nut to crack, some simply hire here and there.

Hey guys, my girlfriend is having balding problem on top of her head which i think due to genetic problem.

As you all know, hair is an important accessory to a girl. What should i do? I heard that those hair care centers are not that reliable. Who should i seek to get help for her? A dermatologist?

Uniten IMeche's Acceditation

I joined Uniten in 2008 and continue my degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2009. Currently doing my 3rd year degree. Yes most of us know that the expiry date for IMeche accreditation is end of this year and we heard rumours that Uniten is planning not to continue the accreditation due to the fact that its costing Uniten ALOT of money.

The thing that confusing me right now is, when i graduate in 2012, will my cert still recognize by IMeche?

''The Institution of Mechanical Engineers or widely known as iMechE has recently awarded UNITEN's BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering with full five years accreditation to cover the 2007 until 2011 student cohort intakes. Students who are awarded with an accredited BEng (Hons) will be required to complete an approval format of the further learning pursuant to the requirements of UK-SPEC. The BSc (Hons) fully meets the academic requirements for registrations as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng).''
