Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Mobo Display port problem

Few days ago my modem was burned and my mobo display port is not working after a lightning strike (no display at all if using mobo display port, rgb or dvi same thing happen). I put in an old gpu and everything went back to normal. So my question is whether I can deduce that the lightning strike had broken my mobo's display section (before that i was using my cpu 3570k intel hd 4000 driver)? I mean now my cpu works fine and the only problem after the strike is that the mobo's display port is not working and my old gpu is somewhat problematic, so since I'm getting a new gpu anyway, does getting a new gpu solve the problem?

Cannot launch games with intel graphics 4000

I just bought new mobo Z77X-D3H with i5-3570k. Was using this with radeon HD5770 gpu but now I want to test games with the i5 built-in intel 4000. However, when i remove the radeon HD5770 and connect my monitor to the mobo dvi port, windows aero doesn't work and games like Dota 2 and maple story cannnot be launched. Is there any driver i need to install?

Mixing Mobo and Gpu from different brands

I always wonder if there are any side effect or any effect if we mix Mobo and Gpu from different brands in a build. I am planning to get Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Mobo but I the Asus GTX670 seems to be a better deal than the gigabyte one. So I want to know whether I can mix Mobo and Gpu from different brands with no issues whatsoever.

It would be nice to have an answer, especially from those who have experience in building a rig mixing Mobo and Gpu from different brand.

I have a N620 installed on a lga775 Q6600 currently. I am planning to upgrade to LGA1155 ivy bridge setup. I want to ask if anyone ever tried this N620 and LGA1155 combination? Just want to make sure my HSF fits.

Do I need a higher end MOBO

Hi all, I am new here and I have a question to ask.

I'm doing my component research to build a new gaming pc and I've decided to go for the latest ivy bridge CPU (most likely i5 3570k), coupled with asus P8Z77-V-LK/P8Z77-V-LX. I have seen many other builds and a lot of them uses higher end MOBO like the Asus Sabertooth or Maximus Formula. I am aiming for either radeon 7870 or nvidia 670 for my gpu. So my question is what is the advantage of getting a higher end MOBO like the Sabertooth since all the essentials or covered in a mid range MOBO like the P8Z77-V-LK (I mean if I am not really particular about extra features like built-in wifi/bluetooth or more USB /PCI-E ports)?

Additional information:
I am planning to get CM912 case and Corsair HX750 PSU. Also 2x 4gb 1333 corsair ram as well as. I already have a CM N620 HSF, Samsung SATA 1TB hdd that I assume I will be still using for my new build (maybe will add another SSD and upgrade to CM V6/V6GT in the future). I am looking to overclock my cpu and also my gpu.

So if any of you guys would provide advice for me regarding my MOBO choice I would be thankful. Suggestion for MOBO from other brands would also be welcomed (I am looking at Gigabyte Z77X-D3H as well).
