Confusion: Tyre & wheel alignment and balancing

helloes,

i went to a tyre shop to have my tyres swapped front and back and had them, or as the mechanic told me, tyres balanced.

the primary visit was to rectify the symptom of my car shaking between 110-120km/hr speeds. i was told my tyres were out of balance and most tyre repair shops would solve it.

however, i still notice my steering wheel pulls to the left slightly on free steering.

does this mean my wheel needs alignment?

thanks for your help in advance!
Please recommend cheapest AVR with Airplay

I presently use my PC with 2.1 Logitech speakers to watch shows and movies. I have a 38" LCD in the living room, but I hardly watch movies/tv shows there, as I don't have a speaker set up. I do occasionally watch news and documentary via Astro IPTV Byond.

I use iTunes a lot, so I'm hoping to look for a set up with Airplay capabilities, as I would like to Airplay music from my PC/iTunes (located in another room), and work in the living while music is playing on my new set up.

So, my options:

1. AVR with built-in Airplay; or

2. AVR without Airplay, but get an Apple TV/Airport Express.

Apart from the Astro B.yond PVR, and LCD, there is my ACRyan PlayOn Mini 2, an old Sony DVD Player, and an old basic JVC Hi-Fi with DVD playing capabilities.

So, I don't really need high end AVR, as I think I will use mainly to output sound from Astro and my ACRyan PlayOn Mini 2; so that's basically just 2 audio inputs to decode sound.

I have no separate speakers, so hence need to invest in those as well. In the immediate term usage, I would suffice with just a 2 left-right speaker set up, as playing Airplay music via iTunes from my PC is the main priority (since i rarely watch movies).

Therefore, I would appreciate if someone would recommend value AVR for me, and which of the 2 options I should go for.

Many thanks for your advice.

p/s The reasons why I prefer built-in Airplay function for the AVR, are:

1. I don't want excessive clutter and hardware - I prefer a minimalist set up.

2. While I use iTunes mainly for my music collection, I still prefer to play video via my ACRyan (versus a possible Apple TV option), as almost all of my videos are in MKV.

Good nyonya restaurant in the Klang Valley

anyone would be able to recommend any good nyonya restaurant in the Klang Valley?

i am not particularly fussy, however, with people giving hype to overrated eateries have left me really disappointed with ones in KL/PJ. my expectations would be take of at least decent standards to that in Melaka/Penang. often, my benchmark dish would be perut ikan, and i would find so far the ones i've tried in KL are watered down and only offer a fraction of actual perut ikan in the dish. some don't even have it on the menu...... sad
Problems setting up WDS/Wireless Bridging

Broadband provider
ISP/package: TM UniFi 5MB
Location: Ipoh

Personal equipment
Modem: TM HUAWEI HG655a Home Gateway BTU
Router: D-Link DIR-615 & TP-Link WR1043ND
Firewall used: Windows 7 built-in firewall

Problem details
Problem: Unable to set up Wireless Bridging/WDS between these 2 wireless routers even though, I've followed all the step by step instructions from the TP-Link website FAQ & user guide of the TP-Link router.

I bought a new TP-Link WR1043ND from Low Yat, and it already comes preinstalled with the UniFi firmware. While I'm aware many have successfully replace TM's D-Link router and are now using TP-Link as their main primary router, i've had way too many issues with the TP-Link particularly with Apple devices in the household. And upon testing and trying settings (b/g/n, bandwidth and channel variations) on both TM's D-Link and the new TP-Link WR1043ND wireless routers, I find that the D-Link offer's the best in terms of compatibility for 10 wireless devices and range.

Now, I would like to use the TP-Link to extend and connected a bunch of wired devices (temporarily connected wirelessly) in my study room.

Even after I applied the exact settings on my TP-Link as that of my D-Link, the TP-Link still doesn't show any internet connectivity.

These are the settings I applied similar to that of my D-Link:

1. Channel: 2
2. Mode: 11b/g/n mixed
3. Channel width: Auto
4. Max Tx Rate: 300Mbps
5. Enable WDS: Checked
6. Survey: Upon clicking, it could detect the D-Link router SSID and BSSID
7. Key type: WPA/WPA2
8. Password: Same as that as my D-Link

I read that to enable WDS, only the channel and SSID of both routers must be the same, the other settings do not matter.

I've tried disabling DHCP on the TP-Link, but every time I did, I am unable to access the admin/setup page via LAN any more.

Anyone has managed to bridge the D-Link to a TP-Link WR1043ND successfully?

Many thanks for your replies and help in advance!

Keep or sell old 1.6 1994 Civic for new Persona

hey there, need some advice lads,

i'm not working and now back in college, and currently driving an old 1994 manual 1.6 Civic with about 187000km mileage on it. the problem is, this car requires much maintenance and i wonder if the monthly costs is worth maintaining the car.

it gets regular servicing, however, due to constant motor oil leaks, constant flats, dead/damaged suspensions even though the mechanic keep changing it, constant air-con gas leaks (even though the air-con system has been changed/repaired a million times), persistent wheel balancing issues, high fuel consumption, poor noise insulation, noisy engine (drowns my music), no ABS/breaking issues on wet road surfaces, faulty central locking system, coolant/radiator leaks constantly (even though changed/repaired a million times), heavy gear stick shifting, etc etc etc

the list goes on.

especially the past 5 years, i think the maintenance costs already exceeded the cost to sell the car

as i'm not working, i was offered to get a brand new Myvi or Persona (read: not a high budget)

i'm wondering, coming from what i still consider a powerful engine and fast car, would i see a big change in performance going from my Civic to say a Persona?

also, i wonder, counting the potential problems people have voiced about their subpar, poor QC Persona, if it would still be a wiser choice to just get a new car.

thanks in advance!

my driving habits: i tend to speed, over take other slower cars in the city and on the highway. so while i appreciate the manual stick shift to give me extra throttle, i find the engine noise is drowning my music, which i enjoy a lot as well. also, city driving, manual is becoming a pain to use.
