BBK lifespan

Hi guys

I'm trying to figure out about how long do we need until the rotors need to be swapped with new ones.
Currently am having the K-Sport 4-pot BBK with 330mm rotors

I heard that the generally the rotor's lifespan is up to 3 years, or simply put until you the grooves are as flat as the base disc itself.

For somebody who doesn't do track day (not yet hehe), does this extend to more years of usage or still have to get a replacement after 3 years? My car est weight is around 1.4 tonnes so yeah, brake is critical.

I worry it is something like a computer, made to kaput after it's good interval

Hi Guys

Sorry for another typical topic but this has really issue is really giving me headache.
I've eyeing for a replacement car but at the same time, I would like to drive it daily but also understand what grieve could it be for me.

I have a daily driven TD Ford Focus, which is very-very zippy & handles brilliantly, so I would want a similar experience on my next choice.
But it will be driven by a lady driver, so I should get another car for myself to handle.

Before you give advice, below a few things to consider;

a) FC -- I know nuts about the consumption these cars are giving
b) maintenance (EVO has few more items in concern ? AYC)
c) prices in comparison on parts & maintenance
d) car price not an issue, have found those are all around RM100k & below only.
e) only manual transmission

I have friends which owns each of those but still can't make up my mind.
Hopefully can get advice from those which have owned or current owners

Proton Putra Roof

Hi guys,

Just doing inquiry here if anyone knows or have seen Proton Putra roof stored in any halfcut shop... or know anyone who is selling it.
My friend's Putra roof just got busted along with the windscreen when the Carbon Fiber hood's clip got loose few days back.
Unfortunately the roof's damage is beyond repair.

Anyone knows where can find & probably estimated price?
If have location only also most appreciated already, my friend can go ask the price to the shopkeeper.

Checking the fuel pressure

Hi all,

just need to inquire how to check the proper fuel pressure from the fuel railing?

AFAIK, if we clip the fuel railing rubber hose, the rpm wil drop because lack of fuel being delivered to the intake manifold. As for my car, it doesn't drop, instead it runs faster.

how do I check? is there any fuel pressure checker? I think many workshop doesn't have such gadget.

Would like to know if anyone experienced the improvement over stock config for exhaust modification using Hot Bits products?
Was thinking it might be a good upgrade over my stock 4G93P exhaust setup.
But looking through the dyno chart is somekind of not enough.

How many times do you check & redo the alignment?
just checking how fellow forummers are paying attention to this maintenance...

me personally oni do twice per year if no rigorous driving (I fairly doubt that statement )

for those doing more than above, can you state is there any particular reason for doing so?
FYI, having optimum alignment & balance can contribute to few aspects:
1. better top speed
2. better mileage
3. better acceleration

*better in this context could be slight or very slight

I'm trying to gather some information on dyno types & workshops that provide dyno services in Malaysia... (actually was referring those in KL) but any extra information is always welcomed.
I was thinking to dyno my car (still quite the stock mode) before I mod engine parts, just some ref to begin with so that can keep up properly on the enhancements.
Any cheap & good dyno exercise in / around KL (or other states oso can) ?

pls redirect me if thread already exist... I tried to search but not much similar of info gathered. I'm driving 4G93P btw.

Verifying DMI Pool data hangs the PC?

Hi guys,

A week back I was away for work until I found out the HD is possibly 'kaput' due to unexplained reason by my younger sister.

HD details:
2 PATA HDs: 40GBs music HD on IDE1 primary socket 1 & 250GBs OS, stuff bla bla bla on slave socket 2.

Anyway, I tried to boot up the PC again, BSOD all the way with message
UNABLE TO MOUNT HARDWARE (or sounds like that) after it loads the last driver (happens the same even when tried booting in safe mode).

So 2nd step tried is swap the HD to primary socket it stalls on the Verifying DMI Pool Data ..... seems like unable to verify the DMI Pool data? Left the PC trying to verify for 20 mins & gave up on verifying

3rd attempt to boot up is using the startup disk but still facing problem when verifying DMI Pool data....

So far haven't tried on other PC coz got oni 1 PC at home & hv limited time to visit friend's house to try on their PC.

Could we fix this error or HD's hardware is already kaboom?
I'm worrying for the sake of my family & friends' images archived since last year (and yeah... some documents)

I'm looking to replace this stuff, used to hold our backseat in place on the chassis:

and this his how our backseats hook look like down beneath:

the other day I had an emergency where my fuel pump need to be replaced, and backseat was necessary to be disassembled. the friggin mech broke the bracket :

supposed he's too darn lazy to pull the black latch to release the hook from the bracket.

now the chassis:

causing the backseat to be bit shaky. now how to sit if @ss can sit still??

where can I get the bracket???

Dismantle Gear Knob

I'm going to change the gearknob, but when I turn the lower part of the knob (the part looks like neck of the knob), it won't open (tightly screwed?)
crap... my gearknob made of steel, so when kena panas... freaking hot I always slip when changing gears due to the "hotness".

Screeching sound

hi guys,

I'm driving putra & whenever I on air-cond got this mild screeching sound...
if higher RPM (or even maintaining it) this screech gets obvious but has intervals with jerks as if power hilang... but very sudden & short while like 1 sec oni?
before air-cond gas was replaced & compressor + alternator belts were also replaced...
before replacing was ok...
is it because of the compressor belt too tight?
or could it even be the bearing or the compressor oil?

Mirage / Putra digital aircond

Hi guys,

I'm querying about the digital aircond system, thought of going to changing from analog to digital.

Since the dashboard is proton's, we got no motors for the vent like digital ones from mitsu, could it be used?

also, the dashboard's wiring should be ok right since putra has 1.8 wiring and the digital aircond is from a 1.6?

Network adapter hilang

hi guys,

need help to rectify this problem with my pc's LAN.
actually i left the pc to download & go to work yesterday.
i was informed by my younger sister that there was blackout in the area so the pc had an unproper shutdown.
so after came back can't access window, got BSOD and rectified with winxp CD.

after dat managed to access my comp, and there was message:
"system recovered from serious error", but i can't seem to find my network adapter on any of these:

WinXP Network Diagnostic

I'm using a gigabyte motherboard & on-board LAN.
From the BIOS menu the on-board LAN option is only Auto or off, so i use Auto.

i don't really think formatting will solve the problem, but do correct me if i'm wrong.
and I'd like to have some ideas to try before resorting to buy new LAN or format.
